Art's Collision & Auto Repair Introduce
Located at 15350 Telegraph Rd, Redford Township, MI 48239, USA, Art's Collision & Auto Repair is a local establishment operating within the broad category of "Auto Repair Stations." The business can be reached by phone at (313) 541-0100 or mobile at +1 313-541-0100. As an auto repair station, it aims to provide a range of services to vehicle owners in the Redford Township area, covering both collision-related needs and general automotive maintenance.
The environment of an auto repair shop like Art's Collision & Auto Repair is typically functional, designed to facilitate the repair and restoration of vehicles. While specific details about the waiting area or customer amenities at this particular location are not extensively detailed online, the general expectation is a space where customers can drop off and pick up their vehicles, and a workshop equipped with the necessary tools and bays for various types of auto work. Customer experiences, as reflected in reviews, can heavily influence the perceived environment. One review mentions a feeling of "family," suggesting a potentially welcoming atmosphere for some patrons. However, other reviews, particularly those detailing negative experiences, might imply an environment that, at times, struggles with communication or consistent quality control.
Regarding services and goods for sale, Art's Collision & Auto Repair, by its name, indicates a dual focus: collision repair and general auto repair. This means they would typically offer a variety of services relevant to vehicle maintenance and damage restoration. Based on the name and the nature of "Auto Repair Stations," their offerings would generally include:
Collision Repair: This would involve addressing damage resulting from vehicle accidents. Services here typically include body panel repair or replacement, frame straightening, dent removal, and addressing structural damage to restore the vehicle's integrity and appearance. The positive review noting "My car looked brand new" directly speaks to successful collision repair work.
Auto Paint Services: As a crucial component of collision repair, this would involve color matching, painting, and finishing to ensure newly repaired or replaced body parts seamlessly blend with the vehicle's original paintwork.
General Auto Repair and Maintenance: Beyond collision work, the "Auto Repair" part of their name suggests they handle more common mechanical issues. This could encompass services such as:
Suspension and Steering Repairs: The review mentioning "rear struts were replaced" indicates their capability in handling suspension components.
Engine Tune-ups and Ignition System Repairs: The repair request for "spark plugs" and a "coil" falls under this category, even if the customer's experience was negative.
Wiper System Repairs: The request for "wiper motor" and "linkage" indicates their involvement in repairing functional components like windshield wipers.
Parts Replacement: For both collision and mechanical repairs, the shop would source and install necessary new or used parts, such as struts, spark plugs, and wiper motors, as indicated by customer experiences.
It's important to note that the extent of services can vary, and while the intention is to provide comprehensive care, the quality of execution can differ, as suggested by the contrasting customer reviews.
The features of Art's Collision & Auto Repair, as perceived through customer feedback, present a mixed picture. On the positive side, features highlighted include:
Friendly Service: One customer explicitly stated, "Friendly service that made me feel like family," suggesting a personal and welcoming approach from the staff.
Collision Repair Expertise (for some): The positive review indicates a strong capability in restoring a vehicle's appearance after a collision, making it "look brand new."
However, other customer experiences bring to light potential areas of concern that can also be considered features of the service provided:
Inconsistent Quality Control/Testing: The review detailing post-repair stalling issues and the lack of a test drive suggests potential inconsistencies in quality assurance and thoroughness before vehicle handover.
Questionable Parts Sourcing: The customer's concern about a "junkyard" wiper motor suggests a policy of using used parts, which, while sometimes more affordable, can be a point of contention for customers expecting new components.
Improper Installation Practices: The mention of spark plugs being excessively tightened ("using a breaker bar to get them loose") points to potential issues with installation techniques that could damage parts or make future maintenance difficult.
Transparency Concerns: The customer's surprise at the use of junkyard parts and the additional charge for credit card processing, perceived as "not good business," indicates potential issues with transparent communication regarding costs and parts used.
Payment Surcharges: Charging an "extra $50 to cover his credit card costs" is a significant feature that directly impacts the final cost for customers choosing to pay by card, which can be perceived negatively.
Regarding promotional information, while no specific advertising campaigns or discount programs are detailed, the nature of a local auto repair business means that certain elements serve as informal promotions or key selling points:
Location: Being situated on Telegraph Rd, a main thoroughfare, provides visibility and easy access for local residents in Redford Township, acting as a direct promotional asset.
Word-of-Mouth: For small businesses, customer experiences, both positive and negative, significantly drive word-of-mouth promotion. A "five star" review can attract new customers, just as a negative one can deter them.
Dual Service Offering: The combination of "Collision & Auto Repair" allows them to appeal to a broader customer base, offering both accident-related fixes and general mechanical work, which can be promoted as a one-stop shop.
Personalized Service: The "feel like family" comment suggests an attempt at personalized customer interaction, which can be a strong draw for those seeking a less corporate experience.
Competitive Pricing (Implied): While not explicitly stated as a promotion, shops often aim to be competitive with pricing to attract customers, although the credit card surcharge might counteract this for some.
In summary, Art's Collision & Auto Repair in Redford Township, MI, presents itself as an "Auto Repair Station" offering both collision and general automotive repair services. While some customers have lauded their friendly service and effective collision work, other experiences highlight significant concerns regarding service quality, transparency in parts sourcing, installation practices, and additional charges. For local users considering their services, it would be prudent to discuss expectations regarding new versus used parts, warranty, and any potential surcharges upfront to ensure a clear understanding of the service and associated costs.

I took my Ford Expedition in On Tuesday, May 21, 2024. It just sat there for 2 days. Then they finally gave me a call and we agreed to remove and replace the rear struts, the spark plugs and the linkage for the wipers along with the Wiper Motor. So the rear struts were replaced which was the only thing that I believe was done right. They did not do a test drive because there was something wrong when I picked up my Expedition. I couldn't get my vehicle past 40 mph without stalling and at a red light I had to put it in neutral and tap on the gas to keep it running. I stopped at autozone to have my computer checked and it showed that my number three coil was messed up. So I had to buy a forty dollar coil after picking it up from the shop where it was supposed to be fixed. After that, it made me wonder about the spark plugs that were just replaced so I bought a Set of plugs and proceeded to change out the ones that I had them put in. They must have put the new ones in with an air tool because it took me using a breaker bar to get them loose without breaking them. I believe they put them on that tight on purpose because nobody puts them in that tight if they know anything about a car. And finally I called him about my wipers. And the wiper motor that would come with the linkage and he proceeded to tell me that he bought them from a junkyard. Why would I want a part from a junkyard? So I told them to keep the crap which I already paid for, that he got from the "JUNKYARD" and said enjoy the extra money, Cause you won't get no more out of me. So basically, it cost me $1500 for 2 rear struts and improperly replaced spark plugs and a ruined coil on their part and don't forget, I never got my wipers fixed because I was expecting a new part not a junkyard part. So I lost a week of work and a weekend that I had to fix and replace my spark plugs and Coil. I wish there was a spot for "0" stars. I DO NOT recommend this place. I will never go back. One more thing, he also made me pay an extra $50 to cover his credit card costs because I paid with a credit card because I don't walk around with $2000.00 in my pocket! And how is that "Good Business"???

Phenomenal job! My dad has been going to them for years but this was my first time visiting. They’re honest people who will not take advantage or overcharge you! Excellent quality and prompt service. 10/10 experience.

This guy knows his cars. Has a very busy business, that alone speaks millions. He owns a mechanic & body shop- he does it all. Very honest & clean work. So thankful i drove the distance based on 2 separate referrals. FYI: I had taken my car to 2 prior estimates (3-4 issues for $1300-$1700 they had said). I finally took it to Art's & only needed to fix 2 of the 3/4 things they told me for MUCH less than other estimates! He showed me under the car & pointed out the problem. Then he gave me the parts he replaced & the packaging/invoices to the new parts he put in. I was previously told i needed all 4 ball Joints replaced; but Art insisted that i can comfortably go another year with no worries. I referred my brother to him (who knows cars very well & use to work as a "mechanic"). My brother was very impressed with his knowledge, workmanship & prices. My brother also took his father-in-law's car in (after numerous estimates) & once again, Art was right on with the diagnosis & great pricing. He is pretty fast on the job. All 3 of our cars were fixed within 24-48 hours. Definitely our family's Mechanic moving forward. 100% worth getting an estimate from this place!
