American Van, Truck & Car, Custom Vehicle Center Since 1974 Introduce

Located at 15775 Telegraph Rd, Redford Township, MI 48239, USA, American Van, Truck & Car, Custom Vehicle Center Since 1974 presents itself as a long-standing establishment within the "Auto Repair Stations" platform category. However, based on customer feedback, its primary function appears to lean more towards a specialty retail store for vehicle accessories and parts, with a focus on custom solutions for vans, trucks, and cars, rather than comprehensive auto repair services typically associated with a full-service repair station. While they offer installation services for the products they sell, the core of their business seems to be in providing a wide selection of aftermarket enhancements and components.

The business has a history dating back to 1974, suggesting a long-standing presence in the Redford Township community. This longevity often implies a depth of experience and knowledge in the products they offer. Their focus on "Custom Vehicle Center" in their name indicates a specialization in vehicle customization, catering to owners who wish to personalize or upgrade their vans, trucks, and cars with various accessories and parts.

The environment of American Van, Truck & Car is not explicitly detailed in the provided information, but the customer reviews offer some insights. One customer mentioned finding "some one in the back doing some work," which suggests a workshop area alongside what would likely be a retail space for Browse products. The presence of a "sign on the door" indicating hours implies a traditional storefront setup. However, issues regarding operating hours and accessibility have been raised, with one customer encountering a locked door despite arriving during stated opening hours. This suggests potential inconsistencies in their operational schedule, which could impact a customer's ability to browse or make purchases without prior confirmation.

In terms of services and goods for sale, American Van, Truck & Car is noted for offering a "Great selection of accessories and parts for your truck." This aligns with their identity as a custom vehicle center. Customers can expect to find various enhancements for their vehicles, such as tonneau covers for trucks, as specifically mentioned in a review. While they sell parts and accessories, the information also indicates that they provide installation services for these products. This bundled offering of product sales and installation is a key aspect of their business model, aimed at providing a comprehensive solution for vehicle customization.

However, the customer experiences highlight some important considerations regarding their service and pricing. One customer's attempt to inquire about a product over the phone was met with a recording simply stating hours, leading to a wasted trip due to inaccurate opening times. This suggests a potential area for improvement in their customer communication channels, particularly regarding real-time updates on store availability.

A significant feature, and a point of contention for one customer, is the pricing structure for parts and installation. When inquiring about a tonneau cover, the customer was given a single price without being asked for specific vehicle details (model or bed size), which struck them as "odd." The explanation that the price was "so much higher" because "we install it" for what the customer perceived as a "10 minute install" and simply "paying for someone to tighten some screws" led to dissatisfaction. This indicates that while installation services are offered, customers might find the associated cost disproportionately high compared to the perceived effort, especially for relatively simple installations. This suggests that while the convenience of a combined purchase and installation might be appealing, customers are advised to carefully consider the value proposition, perhaps by comparing prices for parts and installation separately from other providers or considering DIY installation if capable.

Regarding promotional information, the provided data does not include any specific ongoing promotions or discounts. The business's longevity, "Since 1974," is a strong implicit promotional element, suggesting a long-standing reputation and experience in the custom vehicle market. However, the negative customer experiences regarding inconvenient hours and perceived high installation costs could counteract this positive historical impression. For local users, the primary draw appears to be the "Great selection of accessories and parts" for various vehicles. Potential customers interested in specific parts or custom work are encouraged to use their phone number, (313) 255-6226, or mobile number, +1 313-255-6226, to confirm current hours and pricing for both products and installation services to avoid potential inconveniences. The provided information highlights a business that excels in offering a wide range of specialized parts and accessories, but also underscores the importance of clear communication and competitive pricing for their installation services to ensure customer satisfaction.

After trying to call on the last few Saturday's to ask about a product and getting a recording that just stated the hours of operation period I decided to just go in. I got there at 12, which the recording and the sign on the door both said was the time they opened. Nope! Found a locked door, found some one in the back doing some work, he offered to call the owner, who stated he was just leaving his house and would be there in about a half an hour. I really don't have time to waste. I try to buy local, but this is why I will shop on line

Great selection of accessories and parts for your truck. Went in particularly for a tonneau cover for my new truck. Without asking me the model or size of my truck bed was told a price tag of 450$. I found this odd as you would think larger beds would have even slightly different pricing. When I asked why so much higher and genuinely inquiring what's the difference when ordering the same brand cover the service rep tells me that "we install it". Needless to say I can't justify paying double the price for a 10 minute install and the fact that someone else places the order. After that explanation and realizing I'm paying for someone to tighten some screws I said thank you and left.

Was in and out within a day. Quick service and quick turn around. If you are lucky enough to meet the owner Chuck, you won't be disappointed. 10 Stars if possible, will be back for all my customization needs.

Honestly was a bit disappointed this was my first experience with American van and truck took my truck up to have them install some running boards I purchased on line spent over an hour there with them trying to get the old ones off basically threw up their hands and said they couldn't do . I was like wow people been in business for many many years and nobody there knew how to take a set of running boards off. (Not rocket science) I was a bit myth to see a guy laying on a piece of cardboard trying to remove old running boards. I'm assuming they're good at something because how would you stay in business in a huge building for 40 years my one and only experience was very very disappointing. weird part was they sell the same running boards there.. maybe that was the problem didn't purchase from them.
