American Tire & Brake (Mobile Services) (Fee Estimates) Introduce

Located at 4501 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115, USA, American Tire & Brake (Mobile Services) (Fee Estimates) operates as an "Auto Repair Station" that provides a range of vehicle maintenance and repair services, with a particular emphasis on tire and brake solutions. The inclusion of "(Mobile Services)" and "(Fee Estimates)" in its name suggests a modern approach to customer convenience, offering the flexibility of on-site service and transparent upfront pricing, though the customer reviews focus primarily on the physical shop experience.

The facility itself, as described by a customer, "doesn't look like much" and lacks a comfortable waiting area. This suggests a no-frills, functional environment, where the focus is squarely on getting the job done efficiently rather than providing a plush customer experience. This can be a double-edged sword: while it might not appeal to those who value amenities, it often translates to lower overhead and potentially more competitive pricing, which is a significant factor for many car owners. The environment likely prioritizes workspace and equipment necessary for automotive repairs, indicating a practical, workshop-oriented setting.

American Tire & Brake offers core services related to its name: tire and brake repair and replacement. As one customer noted, they successfully handled a brake job, including rotors and pads, leaving the car "squeak free" and "solid." Beyond these, the shop also performs general automotive work, as evidenced by a customer's experience with a radiator replacement and later, heater issues. This indicates a broader capacity for mechanical repairs, not limited to just tires and brakes.

A significant aspect of this business, as highlighted by a key customer review, is a reported change in management. This point is crucial as it appears to have profoundly impacted the quality of service. Older reviews, as presented, painted a picture of "consistent sub-standard work and high prices," citing issues like poor brake installation (leaving protective paper on pads) and failing to follow instructions (not using distilled water for coolant). This prior negative experience led one customer to "finally give up" on the shop.

However, a more recent review presents a stark contrast, strongly suggesting that a management change has brought about a significant improvement. This customer, initially skeptical about taking their BMW for repairs anywhere but a certified BMW shop, was impressed by American Tire & Brake. They found the pricing to be "half the cost" of a BMW dealer or certified shop for brake replacement, and the job was "done within a few hours." This dramatic shift in customer experience points to a renewed commitment to quality and customer satisfaction under new leadership.

The manager, Israel, is specifically named and praised as a "straight shooter no nonsense guy" who is "honest and true" and "backs up his word." This focus on honesty and transparency in a notoriously challenging industry is a key feature that would attract local users. The willingness to take on complex jobs, such as luxury vehicle repairs, and execute them effectively at a competitive price is also a major selling point. The customer's decision to return for heater issues "without a second thought" is a powerful endorsement of the improved service and trust established with the new management.

Regarding promotional information, there are no explicit deals or advertising mentioned in the provided text. However, the most compelling promotional aspect is the stark contrast between the old and new management, as conveyed through customer testimonials. The positive review, highlighting significant cost savings, efficient service, and honest dealings under Israel's management, serves as a powerful form of word-of-mouth promotion. For local users, knowing that the shop is under new, reliable leadership and offers competitive pricing for quality work (even on high-end vehicles) would be a strong incentive to consider their services.

For potential customers, reaching out to American Tire & Brake is possible via phone at (619) 584-2999 or mobile phone at +1 619-584-2999. Given the significant impact of the reported management change, it would be prudent for new customers to inquire about this when contacting the shop to confirm the current operational philosophy aligns with the positive recent feedback. The "Fee Estimates" in the name also suggests that customers can expect clear pricing information upfront, which is a valuable service feature for budget-conscious individuals.

In conclusion, American Tire & Brake (Mobile Services) (Fee Estimates) offers a practical and cost-effective solution for automotive repairs in San Diego, particularly for tire and brake services. While the physical environment may be basic, the reported transformation under new management, led by Israel, emphasizes honesty, quality work, and competitive pricing. This shift makes it a compelling option for local users seeking reliable and affordable car care, moving beyond its past reputation to become a trusted local auto repair station.

Went to this store a number of years and finally gave up. The work was average at best, and most times I had to return to the store over an issue that cropped up due to their poor work. As an example, I once had new brakes mounted, and when I left the store there was a terrible grinding sound, like sandpaper on a chalk board. Had to return to the shop to find out the mechanic had not removed the protective paper/covering from the brake pads before mounting them. Also, they never followed instructions well there. I once had them do some non-brake work and they installed a new radiator, and as part of that I brought in two gallons of distilled water for them to use with the coolant mix. When I picked up the car the two gallons were still sitting on the front passenger seat, and when asked the answer was, "Whoops, we missed that." Sorry, consistent sub-standard work and high prices do not make a good shop. There are many other cheaper, better shops on Via Fabricante alone. To be fair, I understand this business is under new management, so I highly suggest that if you go to this shop then ask whether there has been a management change. If there has been a management change, then perhaps your experience will be better than mine.

I was very skeptical on taking my BMW for repairs anywhere but a certified BMW repair shop. With the economy the way it is and trying to be frugal with my finances I couldn't and really didn't want to spend the money a BMW dealer or a certified BMW repair shop would charge me for repairs. Trust and honesty is hard to come by in the car repair industry. My brakes were squeaking excessively and I knew it was time for new rotors and pads to be replaced.I took a chance with American Tire & Brake after driving by their shop. It doesn't look like much and there's no waiting area for your comfort, however, they charged me half the cost and had the job done within a few hours. My brakes are squeak free, they feel solid, rotors look clean, and I am very happy with their work. Especially the money I saved. Israel is the manager and is a straight shooter no nonsense guy. He'll back up his word and he may not smile too much but he's honest and true. I am now having heater issues and taking my car back to them without a second thought. If you're looking for quality work, want to save money, this is the place.

I was skeptical due to the cheap price, $250 for front brake pads and rotors when everyone else was $380. But I rolled the dice an lost. Brakes squeaked from day one. I understand that this sometime happens with new brakes as they stop squeezing once they're broken in, but 3.5 months later, still squeaks the same. When I returned to give them a second chance to fix their mistake, they refused to take me because they were too busy with other customers. They told me they can only take me in the early morning. After that they are too busy. They wouldn't even take an appointment. So basically, if you ever want work done by these guys, you have to drop your car off within their first two hours of business, otherwise you get turned away. Then why even post hours open til 5:00 when in all reality, they close at 10:00 am. Customers need mechanics who stand by their work, be eager to fix mistakes, and are willing to work around the customer's schedule because they understand that they are taking your car, the very thing you need to do anything. Their are plenty of other shops who are willing to work around your schedule, we are the one paying them after all, they should be available to receive our money when we are available to give it. They blew their chance. I'm going elsewhere to fix this and find a good long-term mechanic who understands customer service, and one who installs quality parts. In this busy world, we cannot afford to waste time on some crumby mechanics crumby schedule. If their not available to take my money, I'll find someone who is available to take my money in exchange for all around quality.

Others I've seen have given bad reviews, but they really helped me out to the utmost when I brought them a lemon used car I had bought. They knew I was Cash-strapped and worked with me on costs. Good place to have a used car evaluated PRIOR to purchase. Always super slammed with customers, which is a good sign for me. They can hook you up with used cars they know of too. Talk to Israel, my friend there, who may be the owner, or maybe just the manager, but he is a wise, older guy who b will help you assess what a budget conscious individual like myself should and should not do with an older car.

The front desk person Mark is a great guy and they saved me around $1100 over an estimate I got from another shop. I went in there to just get some tires, and mentioned I was going to have some other work done somewhere else. I got a quote from them just to compare prices, but never mentioned how much or any details work to be done, just the basics of what was to be fixed. Well, I was shocked how much they saved me over the other quote! They gave breakdown of what I actually needed versus what would be replaced but was still in good condition, which showed me how honest they were. Needless to say I got my car repaired there and it drove very smoothly afterwards, you could totally tell the difference and that they did a good job.
