Advance Auto Parts Introduce

Advance Auto Parts is a widely recognized and established "Auto Parts Store" that serves as a vital resource for both professional automotive repair shops (Pro customers) and individual do-it-yourself (DIY) enthusiasts. While categorized as an "Auto Repair Station" on some platforms due to its tangential services that aid in vehicle repair, its primary function is the retail of new automotive replacement parts, accessories, batteries, and maintenance items. This robust presence in the automotive aftermarket makes it a go-to destination for anyone looking to maintain, repair, or upgrade their domestic or imported car, van, SUV, or light and heavy-duty truck.

The environment at a typical Advance Auto Parts store is designed for accessibility and convenience, catering to a diverse customer base. Stores are generally well-lit, organized, and clean, making it easy for customers to navigate the aisles and locate specific parts. The layout often includes clearly marked sections for different vehicle systems like brakes, filters, fluids, ignition, and electrical components. There's usually a dedicated counter where customers can receive assistance from knowledgeable team members, look up parts, and process transactions. While it’s not a full-service repair shop with mechanic bays, the atmosphere is helpful and customer-service oriented, with staff often providing advice on part selection and basic installation tips. Many stores also offer comfortable waiting areas for those utilizing in-store services. Furthermore, Advance Auto Parts prioritizes environmental responsibility; their stores actively participate in recycling programs for used oil and batteries, contributing to a more sustainable automotive aftermarket. This commitment is reflected in their in-store practices, creating a responsible and clean environment for both customers and staff.

Advance Auto Parts offers a vast inventory of goods and a suite of complementary services. Their primary offering is an extensive selection of new automotive replacement parts and accessories. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Engine Components: Spark plugs, ignition coils, engine sensors, belts, hoses, and engine rebuild kits.
  • Brake System Parts: Brake pads, rotors, calipers, brake fluid, and brake hardware.
  • Filters: Oil filters, air filters, cabin air filters, and fuel filters for various applications.
  • Fluids and Chemicals: Motor oil (conventional, synthetic, blends), transmission fluid, coolant/antifreeze, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, and a wide range of automotive chemicals, additives, and cleaners.
  • Batteries: A comprehensive selection of car batteries, including their exclusive DieHard brand, with free battery testing and installation services. They also offer battery recycling programs.
  • Lighting and Electrical: Headlights, taillights, bulbs, fuses, alternators, starters, and wiring.
  • Steering and Suspension: Shocks, struts, control arms, tie rod ends, and wheel bearings.
  • Wiper Blades: A variety of wiper blade options, often with free installation services.
  • Tools and Equipment: A selection of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools (e.g., OBD-II scanners available for loan or purchase), jacks, and stands.
  • Appearance and Detailing: Car wash supplies, waxes, polishes, interior cleaners, and air fresheners.
  • Accessories: Floor mats, seat covers, phone mounts, and other vehicle enhancements.
Beyond just selling parts, Advance Auto Parts provides several valuable in-store services that greatly assist DIY customers and professionals. These often include free battery testing, free battery installation (for most vehicles), free wiper blade installation, and free check engine light scanning (where available and permitted by local laws). They also offer a loaner tool program, allowing customers to borrow specialized tools for various repairs by leaving a refundable deposit. This comprehensive range of products and supporting services positions Advance Auto Parts as a crucial partner for anyone performing vehicle maintenance or repairs.

Several features distinguish Advance Auto Parts in the automotive aftermarket. Firstly, their extensive inventory, both in-store and online, ensures a high likelihood of finding the right part for a specific vehicle, often including options for various brands (OEM, aftermarket, and private label like Carquest and DieHard). Their online platform also allows for convenient "Buy Online, Pick Up In Store" or "Same-Day Delivery" services, significantly enhancing customer convenience and speed of service. Secondly, the knowledgeable staff, referred to as "Team Members," are trained to assist customers in identifying the correct parts and can offer basic advice on installation, which is invaluable for DIYers. Thirdly, Advance Auto Parts' commitment to sustainability is a notable feature, particularly their battery and oil recycling programs, which encourage responsible disposal of hazardous materials. Fourthly, their various loyalty programs and promotional offerings (such as the Speed Perks rewards program) provide significant value and savings to regular customers. Lastly, their strategic partnerships, including serving professional installers, mean they stock a wider array of parts and possess a deeper understanding of the needs of the automotive repair industry, which indirectly benefits DIY customers through improved part availability and quality. The company's focus on continuously optimizing its retail footprint and investing in IT infrastructure further enhances parts availability and service speed, including initiatives like holding approximately 75,000 to 85,000 SKUs in larger stores to bring parts closer to customers.

Advance Auto Parts frequently offers a variety of promotional incentives to attract and retain customers, making quality auto parts and accessories more affordable. Common promotional information includes:

  • Online Discount Codes: Often providing a percentage off (e.g., 15% or 20% off) online orders, sometimes with minimum purchase requirements. These are frequently advertised on their website, through email subscriptions, or via coupon sites.
  • Speed Perks Rewards Program: This loyalty program allows customers to earn points on purchases, which can be redeemed for "Perks Bucks" ($5 for every 500 points, or higher for VIP/Elite members) and sometimes gas rewards at participating Shell stations. Members can also receive exclusive offers and early access to sales.
  • Seasonal Sales and Holiday Deals: Major sales events around holidays (e.g., Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Presidents' Day) or seasonal changes (e.g., "Spring" or "Winter" sales) offering discounts on a wide range of products.
  • Free Shipping: Often available for online orders above a certain threshold (e.g., $35), excluding certain items or regions.
  • In-Store Coupons: Physical coupons or digital coupons redeemable at checkout for specific discounts or product categories.
  • Bundled Deals: Promotions on purchasing multiple related items together, such as an oil and filter bundle.
  • Mail-in Rebates: Offered on select products, providing a return of funds after purchase.
  • Referral Programs: Incentives for customers who refer friends and family.
  • Free In-Store Services: As mentioned, complimentary battery testing, battery installation (on most vehicles), wiper blade installation, and check engine light scanning are ongoing "promotional" services that add significant value.
Customers are encouraged to sign up for their email list, download the Advance Auto Parts app (which often has app-exclusive benefits like stacking Perks Bucks for Elite members), and check their website or local circulars for the latest promotional offers to maximize savings on their auto parts and accessories.

Advance Auto Parts Customer Reviews

Left on hold for 10 minutes then they ignored my call back.I'm going elsewhere even if it costs me more. Parts are hit or miss, often bad attitudes and don't carry the lower grades when your in a jam so you pay crazy money for still junk parts. I payed almost $400 for an alternator, paid cash and have probably been in their computer for decades. They said I could return the core with just my phone number, which then turned into multiple trips back and forth to the store because they are incompetent and greedy. I payed cash, I expect my cash back when I bring a core back in your box when you have a record of me buying it. Without games. Bad attitudes and usually 3 employees watch one person answer phones and wait on customers. Waiting times aren't completely insane but they are definitely twice as long as they should be. Phone calls. They answer with please hold. There's no way 3 grown people can't handle a tiny line and a phone but they can't. Must be a corporate problem like you have to stay in the back, you have to stay at the register and you have to pretend to be doing something on the floor. While customers sit forever waiting in line or on the phone. It's typical auto part store stuff. Can't do it and if they can they want to do it wrong.

This one isn't that great anymore. I almost dread having to go in. I'd say work on customer service. The parts are easy to find though and pretty good.

Take your money and time elsewhere. This is the second time I had an issue with an online pickup at this location. Somehow with my order confirmation in hand and parts on the counter, I couldn't leave with my parts. I had to stand there and wait for 20-30 mins while the manager was trying to figure out a system issue with IT. I left and came back later hoping for a resolution but I was told to cancel the order and re-order. They should have immediately matched the price, let me walk out with what I needed and then I could cancel my order. Not that hard. I took my business down the street to Autozone.
