18th Avenue Auto Center, located at 7519 18th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11214, is an auto repair station serving the local community with vehicle maintenance and repair services. The center can be reached at (718) 331-2929. While operating as an auto repair station, their services primarily revolve around diagnosing and fixing various automotive issues for a general range of vehicles.
The environment at 18th Avenue Auto Center, typical of an auto repair shop, would include a garage area equipped with tools, lifts, and diagnostic machinery necessary for vehicle servicing. There is likely a customer reception area where clients can interact with staff, discuss their car's problems, and handle payment. The specific ambiance or amenities within the waiting area are not detailed in the provided information. Located on 18th Avenue, the center is situated in a busy part of Brooklyn, offering accessibility to residents and businesses in the surrounding neighborhoods. Their operating hours are typically Monday to Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and they are closed on Sundays.
18th Avenue Auto Center, as an auto repair station, offers a range of services designed to address common vehicle maintenance and repair needs. Based on available information, their services include:
Exhaust System Repair: This includes addressing issues such as exhaust leaks, muffler repairs, and potentially full exhaust line replacements. A customer review specifically mentions seeking a weld for a small hole in the muffler and being offered options for full exhaust line replacement.
Tire Services: According to external information, they offer tire replacement and installation services. This typically includes mounting, balancing, and tire disposal. For new tire installations, they also offer TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) reset and often include roadside assistance with a minimum purchase of four tires.
General Vehicle Maintenance: While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, a typical auto repair station would handle routine services such as oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and basic inspections.
Diagnostics: They would perform diagnostic services to identify the root cause of vehicle problems, as is standard for an auto repair facility.
They appear to cater to passenger vehicles, light trucks, and SUVs/Crossovers, offering various tire brands for these vehicle types.
The features of 18th Avenue Auto Center, as gleaned from the provided customer feedback, paint a concerning picture. Instead of highlighting positive attributes, the reviews predominantly point to severe issues with customer experience and business practices.
Lack of Transparency and Honesty: A prominent feature, as described by a customer, is a significant discrepancy between quoted services and actual work performed. The customer was quoted for a full exhaust line replacement but only received a muffler change, yet was charged the higher agreed-upon price. This indicates a lack of transparency and potential dishonesty in their dealings.
Aggressive and Unprofessional Communication: Customer accounts describe aggressive behavior and yelling from staff members (specifically "Lenny" and "Alex"), escalating conflict rather than resolving issues. This suggests a highly unprofessional approach to customer service.
Coercive Practices: A severe allegation is that the shop effectively "held" the customer's keys and refused to return the car until the full, disputed payment was made. This constitutes a highly unethical and potentially illegal business practice.
Disregard for Original Parts and Safety Concerns: One review alleges that the shop replaces original parts with non-original ones and that this could lead to critical failures, such as brake failure. This is a very serious accusation that implies a significant risk to vehicle safety and integrity.
Destruction of Original Parts: The shop allegedly disposed of the original muffler without the customer's consent, despite the customer requesting its return. This demonstrates a disregard for customer property and preferences.
Misleading Pricing: Beyond the disputed service, an additional "processing fee" was added, further increasing the final bill beyond the already contentious agreed-upon price.
These features, as reported by customers, suggest a business model that prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction, transparency, and safety.
Given the extremely negative and specific nature of the customer reviews, direct promotional information for 18th Avenue Auto Center is not readily available through the provided data. Auto repair shops typically promote themselves through:
Service Specials: Discounts on common services like oil changes, brake inspections, or tire rotations.
Online Deals: Promotions advertised on their website or through third-party platforms.
Warranties on Repairs: Offering guarantees on parts and labor to instill customer confidence.
However, in this specific case, the strong negative feedback heavily overshadows any potential promotional efforts. The customer reviews act as a cautionary warning rather than an invitation for business. For any individual considering services from 18th Avenue Auto Center, it would be critical to contact them directly to inquire about specific services and pricing, and perhaps more importantly, to exercise extreme caution and fully understand all terms and conditions before authorizing any work, given the severe issues highlighted by previous customers. Due to the very serious nature of the allegations, prospective customers should proceed with significant awareness and due diligence.

liars, thieves, con artists.. do NOT bring your car here! the A of A & L, Alex is a liar and a lunatic. I brought my car to them because of an exhaust leak (small hole in the muffler that I asked him to weld) he said no problem but it may not work and it would be $150 of they successfully welded it, $250 to replace the muffler (if need be) and if I wanted the entire exhaust line minus the catalytic converter for $450. I told them I wouldn’t mind paying $450 to do the entire exhaust line And agreed to it. they called me and said the car was ready so I came in and went to go speak with the L of A & L Auto, Lenny. Lenny goes ok $450, so I went to look at the car and they only changed the muffler. I told him only muffler was supposed to be $250 and he automatically got aggressive. I asked him to call the guy I made the deal with and he started yelling at me through the phone calling me a liar. I told him they can have their new muffler and to give me mine with the hole back and he said they already got rid of it. They basically held my keys and wouldn’t give me my car back until I gave them the $450 which came out to $508 after tax and “processing“ fee. horrible experience at a terrible auto repair shop.

Scammers and very dangerous people !!! Be careful. Never leave your car with them to get it fixed. They'll take all the original parts off your car. And when you go on the road your brakes will fail !!!!

They give you one price for repair, and after taking car apart , giving you much higher price. I was told by them that to replace rear wheel barring it takes to remove rear axel, thats why the price is so High…. No one ever removed the axel, i was watching.. but i been charged full amount. On the next visit I asked them to replace front ball joints, they kept the car there for 2 days…. Charged me $540!!!!!! and put two different ball joints with rusted nut on one of them !!!!!! Different manufacturers, size and color (not even sure if they are new). When i asked why are they different, the answer was… thats what the store shipped. Do not recommend this place at all. Never again!!!
