As a branded Sunoco station, it's part of a well-established network known for its commitment to providing quality fuel, including Top Tier gasoline. In a region like Central New York, where vehicle reliance is high, a convenient and efficient gas station is a critical component of daily life. This particular location aims to offer a straightforward experience, focusing on getting you fueled up quickly and providing a clean environment, both at the pumps and potentially within its convenience store (though one review notes the interior was not assessed). They understand that for many New Yorkers, a fast and reliable stop is key to managing busy schedules and keeping journeys on track.

As a standard Sunoco branded gas station, the location at 8199 Turin Rd in Rome is expected to offer a core set of services designed to meet the immediate needs of motorists. While a detailed list of every single item in their convenience store isn't publicly exhaustive, typical offerings would include:

  • Convenience Store: Most Sunoco stations include an attached convenience store. While the interior was not specifically reviewed, these stores generally offer:
    • Beverages: A selection of soft drinks, juices, energy drinks, and coffee.
    • Snacks and Packaged Foods: Chips, candies, pastries, and other grab-and-go items.
    • Tobacco Products: Often available in compliance with local regulations.

The Sunoco station at 8199 Turin Rd in Rome presents a mixed but important set of features and highlights that shape the customer experience.

  • Cleanliness and Pump Functionality: One customer review specifically highlights that "the place was being swept and kept clean outside and overall it was a very nice gas station." The same review noted that "many gas pumps available and the pumps and card readers worked well." This indicates a commitment to maintaining a functional and tidy exterior, which is crucial for a positive fueling experience.
  • Ample Pump Availability: The presence of "many gas pumps available" helps to minimize wait times, especially during peak hours, allowing for a quicker and more efficient stop.
  • Top Tier Fuel Quality: As a Sunoco station, it provides Top Tier gasoline, which is recognized by leading automotive manufacturers for its enhanced engine cleaning properties, contributing to better vehicle performance and longevity.
  • Participation in Loyalty Programs: The station's involvement with Sunoco Go Rewards and Price Chopper AdvantEdge Rewards offers opportunities for customers to save money on fuel, a significant highlight for budget-conscious New Yorkers.

However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised in one customer review regarding payment security. The review states, "Within the span of 6 months both mine and my boyfriends cards were compromised almost instantly after using them here. His card twice and mine once. I am 100% they are either careless with or sell your card info." This is a severe allegation that points to potential security vulnerabilities or malpractice. While this is a single customer's experience, it raises a significant red flag that prospective customers, especially those considering using credit or debit cards at the pump, should be aware of. It suggests a strong recommendation to "not stopping here unless you have cash" as a precautionary measure. This concern is a major drawback that directly impacts customer trust and security.

As a Sunoco branded gas station, the 8199 Turin Rd location in Rome participates in the broader promotions and loyalty programs offered by Sunoco, as well as potential partnerships with local grocery chains in New York. These programs are designed to provide savings and convenience for customers.

  • Sunoco Go Rewards Program: This mobile-based loyalty program allows customers to save on fuel purchases. By downloading the Sunoco app and linking a payment method, users can save a certain amount per gallon instantly when paying through the app. There are often additional limited-time offers, such as increased savings for linking a bank account (Sunoco Pay).
  • Sunoco Rewards Credit Card: Customers can apply for a Sunoco Rewards Credit Card, which typically offers ongoing discounts per gallon on fuel purchases at participating locations. This provides consistent savings for frequent users.
  • Grocery Rewards Partnerships: This specific Sunoco station participates in the Price Chopper AdvantEdge Rewards program. This allows customers to earn points on their grocery purchases at Price Chopper and Market 32 stores, which can then be redeemed for discounts on fuel at participating Sunoco stations like this one. This is a popular way for New Yorkers to maximize savings.
  • Seasonal Promotions: Sunoco may also offer seasonal or limited-time promotions on fuel or in-store products, which are typically advertised at the pump or within the store.

To take full advantage of these potential savings, customers are encouraged to sign up for the Sunoco Go Rewards program, consider the Sunoco Rewards Credit Card, and utilize their Price Chopper AdvantEdge Rewards when applicable. It is always wise to check for the most current promotions directly at the station or through the official Sunoco app. However, given the serious concerns about card security raised in a review, customers may wish to consider using cash for transactions, which would limit participation in certain card-based loyalty programs.

For residents and drivers in Rome, New York, the Sunoco station at 8199 Turin Rd presents a mix of compelling features and significant considerations. On one hand, its convenient location on Turin Road, combined with a clean exterior, well-functioning pumps, and participation in valuable loyalty programs like Sunoco Go Rewards and Price Chopper AdvantEdge Rewards, makes it an attractive option for regular fueling and convenience. The presence of Top Tier fuel is also a notable benefit for vehicle maintenance.

These concerns about payment security suggest that while the station offers practical amenities, there may be risks associated with certain transaction methods. For those prioritizing card security, using cash for transactions at this location would be a prudent measure, though this limits access to some card-based loyalty benefits. I use this gas station often because I live nearby. I highly suggest not stopping here unless you have cash. Within the span of 6 months both mine and my boyfriends cards were compromised almost instantly after using them here. His card twice and mine once. I am 100% they are either careless with or sell your card info.

Stopped here while out visiting Rome to fill up the truck. There were many gas pumps available and the pumps and card readers worked well. The place was being swept and kept clean outside and overall it was a very nice gas station however I paid at the pump and did not enter the building so I can’t talk about what the inside of the building looks like or how it is maintained.
