In Vernon, the Stop & Shop Gas Station at 10 Pitkin Rd aims to provide just that – a convenient and economically advantageous stop for local drivers.

Connecticut drivers are accustomed to varying conditions, from the demands of daily commutes to longer weekend trips. Access to reliable fuel and the ability to maximize savings are always welcome. This Stop & Shop Gas Station, connected to the well-known supermarket chain, leverages its loyalty program to offer unique benefits to its customers. This article will provide a detailed look at the Stop & Shop Gas Station on Pitkin Road, covering its location, the services it provides, its key features, the valuable promotions it offers, and why it is a highly suitable choice for locals in the Vernon community.

Location and Accessibility

The Stop & Shop Gas Station is conveniently situated at 10 Pitkin Rd, Vernon, CT 06066, USA. This address places it adjacent to, or as part of, the main Stop & Shop supermarket in Vernon, ensuring high visibility and excellent accessibility. Pitkin Road is a local route that allows for easy access from various parts of Vernon, making it a logical stop for those doing their grocery shopping or simply passing by.

The primary advantage of its location is its direct connection to the Stop & Shop supermarket. This integration means that customers can combine their grocery trips with fueling up their vehicles, optimizing their time and reducing the need for separate stops. While some customers note that the hoses might be short, which can be an "annoying" aspect if your gas cap is on the opposite side, the overall convenience of being part of a larger shopping complex often outweighs this minor inconvenience for most local users. Its clear signage and typical gas station layout facilitate straightforward entry and exit.

Services Offered

The Stop & Shop Gas Station at 10 Pitkin Rd is primarily focused on providing efficient fuel services, designed to complement the grocery shopping experience. While it may not feature a full-fledged convenience store separate from the main supermarket, its offerings are geared towards a quick and essential stop.

  • Fuel Products:

    • Regular Unleaded Gasoline: The standard option suitable for most vehicles.
    • Mid-Grade Unleaded Gasoline: For vehicles that benefit from a slightly higher octane.
    • Premium Unleaded Gasoline: The highest octane option for vehicles requiring premium fuel.
    • Diesel Fuel: Available for diesel-powered vehicles, ensuring a comprehensive range of fueling choices.

    • Go Rewards Fuel Redemption: The core service highlight is the ability to redeem "Go Rewards" points earned from shopping at the main Stop & Shop supermarket for discounts on gas. This program is designed to incentivize grocery purchases by offering direct savings at the pump.

    • Payment Options: The station accepts various payment methods, including major credit/debit cards, and facilitates the use of Go Rewards for discounted fuel prices.

    • Staffed Pumps (Usually): Customer feedback suggests the fueling area is "usually staffed in person," which can be a comfort for those who prefer assistance or have questions.

It's important to note that while the gas station itself might not have a standalone convenience store, the proximity to the full Stop & Shop supermarket means customers have immediate access to a vast array of groceries, snacks, beverages, and other amenities available inside the main store.

    Features / Highlights

The Stop & Shop Gas Station on Pitkin Road in Vernon offers several key features that make it an attractive option for local drivers, particularly those who are already Stop & Shop customers:

    • Integration with Stop & Shop Supermarket: This is arguably the biggest highlight. The gas station is designed to be a convenient extension of the grocery store, allowing customers to easily combine their shopping and fueling needs in one trip, saving time and effort.

    • Go Rewards Program: The ability to use "Go Rewards" points directly at the pump is a significant benefit. For every 100 points earned through grocery purchases (typically $1 spent equals 1 point), customers can save 10 cents per gallon on gas, up to a maximum of 35 gallons per fill-up. These savings can accumulate quickly and offer substantial discounts on fuel.

    • Clean and Efficient Fueling Area: Despite some comments about hose length, customers generally describe the fueling area as "clean" and "efficient," indicating a well-maintained environment for refueling.

    • Staffed Pumps: The presence of staff at the pumps is a positive feature for many, providing assistance if needed and contributing to a sense of security and service.

    • Competitive Pricing (with Rewards): While base gas prices are generally competitive with nearby stations, the true value comes from the ability to apply Go Rewards, which can significantly lower the effective price per gallon.

    Promotions or Special Offers

The primary and most significant promotion at the Stop & Shop Gas Station revolves around its "Go Rewards" loyalty program. This program is central to how customers can achieve substantial savings on fuel:

    • Stop & Shop Go Rewards:

      • Earning Points: Customers earn 1 point for every dollar spent on eligible purchases at the Stop & Shop supermarket (in-store or online). Bonus points can often be earned on specific promotions or products.
      • Redeeming Savings: For every 100 points accumulated, customers can save 10 cents per gallon on gas. These points can be redeemed at participating Stop & Shop Gas Stations (like this one in Vernon) or at participating Shell stations (by linking Go Rewards to a Fuel Rewards account).
      • Stackable Savings: Go Points can often stack with other Fuel Rewards® savings earned from everyday purchases through partner programs, potentially leading to even greater discounts per gallon.
      • Point Expiration: Points are typically valid for 30 days from the date of purchase, encouraging timely redemption. The maximum redemption in a single fill-up is usually 1,500 points, or $1.50 per gallon.
    • Weekly Ads & Digital Coupons: Beyond Go Rewards, customers can also take advantage of Stop & Shop's weekly circulars and digital coupons, which often include promotions on general grocery items. While not directly tied to the gas station, these savings contribute to the overall value proposition of shopping at Stop & Shop, leading to more Go Rewards points.

    • New Account/Enrollment Offers: New members signing up for a Stop & Shop online account or the Go Rewards program may receive introductory offers, such as bonus points or an initial discount on fuel, to encourage participation.

To maximize savings, Vernon residents are strongly encouraged to sign up for the free Go Rewards program, use their Stop & Shop Card every time they shop, and actively check for digital coupons and weekly specials. This makes the gas station an integral part of a smart shopping strategy.

Pumps are out of service a lot of the time. And they only have short hoses so if your gas cap is on the other side of your car you can’t use the pump. Annoying

Clean efficient fueling area, usually staffed in person. "Go rewards" from shopping in the main store come in quite handy in discounting the price per gallon

It's a good gas station. Global inflation has hit lots of people hard. Not to mention, the price gouging from fuel companies that are blatantly robbing everyone while making over double last year's profits. Some blindly blame whatever leader is in charge out of fueled anger and ignorance. What we as a species need is to move away from fossil fuels and dumb money into renewable energy research. There's estimated 50 years of petrol left. We orbit a star that puts out an unfathomable amount of energy every second. It's time to research more ways to use it

I never know why , but the gas always seems to pump slow at this location. No matter how many people are at the pumps. Today, one of the pumping locations was blocked off.....again.🤦‍♀️ They only have one person at the pump and they never seem friendly either. Not sure why that is. Prices are higher here than the location down off Route 83.
