For Maryland drivers who are frequently on the go, a car wash that is easy to get in and out of can save valuable time, making ModWash an attractive option for routine vehicle maintenance.

Services Offered

ModWash focuses on providing automated car wash services, typically featuring various wash packages designed to offer different levels of cleaning and protection. While the names of the packages might vary, they generally progress from basic washes to more comprehensive options.

  • Automated Car Wash: ModWash offers an automated tunnel wash system. This means your car moves along a conveyor system through various stages of washing, rinsing, and drying. This type of wash is valued for its speed and efficiency, making it ideal for regular maintenance.
  • Wash Options (e.g., Basic Wash): The provided information indicates a "cheap wash option costs $10 here." This suggests that ModWash offers tiered pricing, with a basic wash starting at an affordable rate. Higher-tier washes often include additional features like:
    • Automated Bug Spray: For pre-treating and removing stubborn insect residue.
    • Wheel Bright: Special solutions and brushes designed to clean wheels and tires.
    • Triple Foam Conditioner: A colorful foam application for a more visually appealing wash and added cleaning power.
    • ModWax/Rain Repellent: Applications for enhanced shine and water beading.
    • Tire Shine: To give tires a glossy, clean finish.
    • ModGuard Under Carriage: A rinse to clean the underside of the vehicle, often targeting road salt and grime.
    • ModFusion Ceramic Protection / RainX Graphene: Higher-tier protective coatings that aim to provide longer-lasting shine and environmental protection.
  • Included Vacuums: A significant "pro" highlighted by a customer review is that "Access to vacuums included as well with every wash." This is a valuable amenity, as it allows customers to clean their car's interior immediately after the exterior wash, adding considerable value to the service, especially for those who appreciate a thoroughly clean vehicle.
  • Bug Prep Station: Some ModWash locations offer a bug prep station, where customers can pre-treat their vehicles to help loosen stubborn bug remnants before entering the automated wash. It's advisable to check if this specific Hagerstown location has this feature, especially if you frequently deal with insect splatter.
  • Microfiber Towels, Window Cleaner, Mat Cleaner, ModAir Freshener: These self-service detailing amenities may be available at the vacuum stations, allowing customers to perform finishing touches on their vehicle.

Features / Highlights

ModWash in Hagerstown presents several features that may appeal to local car owners, alongside some points to consider based on customer feedback.

  • Convenience and Speed: Automated car washes like ModWash are inherently convenient, allowing drivers to get a wash quickly without much manual effort. This is a major draw for busy Marylanders.
  • Affordable Entry-Level Option: With a basic wash costing $10, ModWash offers a budget-friendly way to maintain car cleanliness, making it accessible for frequent washes.
  • Complimentary Vacuums: The inclusion of free vacuums with every wash is a significant bonus, providing added value and allowing for comprehensive interior cleaning after the exterior wash.
  • Potential for Advanced Wash Treatments: The availability of features like ceramic protection and bug spray indicates options for more thorough cleaning and protective coatings, appealing to those seeking more than a basic wash.
  • Points to Consider (Based on Reviews):
    • Wash Effectiveness: One customer reported that the "wash itself was not very good," with "remnants of dead bugs on the windshield" and dirt remaining in some spots. This suggests that the effectiveness of the automated wash, particularly the touch-free option, might vary depending on the level of dirt and type of grime.
    • Brush Hardness: A critical concern raised was that "the brushes were way too hard on the body of the vehicle to the point where the paint chipped a little." This is a serious highlight for car owners, particularly those with new or highly valued vehicles, as it indicates a potential risk of paint damage from the soft-touch brushes.
    • Membership Cancellation Issues: Several reviews, including the provided one, highlight significant difficulties with cancelling memberships and obtaining refunds. This is a crucial point for any prospective member to be aware of, suggesting potential challenges with customer service and billing.

Promotions or Special Offers

ModWash, like many car wash chains, often offers membership programs for unlimited washes. While details on current promotions are best confirmed directly with the Hagerstown location or on the ModWash website, common offers might include:

  • Unlimited Wash Memberships: These typically allow customers to wash their car as many times as they wish within a billing cycle for a flat monthly fee. ModWash mentions "Unlimited Single" and "Unlimited Wash for only: $19.99 monthly" for limited periods.
  • Family Plans: ModWash also offers a "ModWash Family Plan" where you can "Save $5 per vehicle" for additional cars on a membership.
  • First-Time Customer Deals: Occasionally, new customers might find introductory discounts or trial periods for memberships.

It is vital for Maryland residents considering a membership to thoroughly review ModWash's terms and conditions, especially concerning cancellation policies, as customer reviews indicate challenges in this area. It's advised to contact them directly and perhaps get cancellation terms in writing if considering a long-term commitment.

ModWash Customer Reviews

I don't really feel like the wash itself was very good. The brushes were way to hard on the body of the vehicle to the point where the paint chipped a little and I was still left with dirt on some spots. Convenient for sure, but not a place I would take a car I cared about through. Cheap wash option costs $10 here. Access to vacuums included as well with every wash which is a pro

Can I give a negative review? No? One star it is. Don't sign up for a membership. You will never be able to cancel or see your money returned when they won't cancel then continue to charge. I placed a cancel request in February 2025 and have been continuously charged since. Go there, no management to speak to you. I sent emails. Nothing. Tried to call. Nothing. My fiance made a compliant on Google. They called, said refund would happen, and guess what? His review was removed and no refund. Now, I'm out $120 and have to get a new card so no further charges occur. Ten out of ten, avoid this place.

I visited Mod today and Robert assisted me at the pay station. Robert was exceptionally kind, patient, explained the pricing and membership models, and ensured I had a great experience. You couldn’t ask for a better employee, and I’m going to become a Mod car wash member because of Robert’s outstanding customer service. Thank you so much!

Employees treat everyone like they’re stupid and can’t work a touch screen. Will never go back to any location as their wash system put a two foot scuff across the hood of my brand new car. But I didn’t see it until I got home. They’ll claim it wasn’t their fault. So now I gotta repaint my friggin good on my dime. Never again.

While the car washes and amenities are great. The customer service is terrible. I have a membership and the last time I was there man got nasty with me when I asked if he has number 2 air fresheners and today my encounter with the older black man in the wash the enough to make me cancel. He yelled at me for not lining my tires up right the first time then had me put my window down to yell again and accuse me of not having the car in neutral (I did) seems like he must needed someone to take anger out on and I was the lucky guest. The workers were so happy when y’all first opened. Now that you e built up clientele I guess that doesn’t matter.
