York Body Shop, LLC Introduce

Located at 919 E Liberty St, York, SC 29745, USA, York Body Shop, LLC operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" platform category, specializing in collision repair and auto body work. This introduction provides a detailed, objective overview of the establishment, encompassing its environment, the services it offers, its features, and any available promotional information, based on the provided customer reviews.

The environment at York Body Shop, LLC presents a complex picture, as described by contrasting customer experiences. As a body shop, the physical premises would typically include a reception area for customer intake and consultation, alongside a large workshop equipped with specialized tools for collision repair, including frame machines, paint booths, and various bodywork tools. The space would need to accommodate multiple damaged vehicles undergoing various stages of repair. From a customer service perspective, the environment appears to be one where initial interactions can be supportive. One positive review highlights "Very professional services with updates of progress and timely turn arounds," suggesting an organized and communicative front office. The reference to "updates of progress" implies a system for keeping customers informed, which contributes to a more transparent and reassuring environment. However, the lengthy negative review paints a different picture, describing an environment characterized by disorganization and poor communication. The customer's experience of being caught in a "monkey in the middle" situation between the shop and State Farm, and the staff member Anne's apparent lack of awareness about their vehicle's status, indicates a breakdown in internal communication and case management. This suggests an environment where, at times, customers may feel overlooked or confused about their vehicle's progress, despite the shop's potential best intentions.

York Body Shop, LLC primarily focuses on collision repair services, which fall under the broad umbrella of "Auto Repair Stations" specializing in bodywork. Their services include:

  • Auto Body Repair: This is their core service, addressing damages ranging from minor dents and scratches to major structural repairs resulting from accidents. Examples from reviews include damage from large tree limbs and a crushed Jeep top.
  • Auto Painting and Refinishing: As part of collision repair, they perform paint matching and application to restore the vehicle's aesthetic appearance.
  • Trim Repair and Replacement: Demonstrated by the issue with the F-250's cab trim, they undertake repairs related to vehicle trim and molding.
  • Insurance Claim Processing: As a "State Farm certified shop," they are equipped to work with insurance companies to process claims, although the customer experience regarding communication with State Farm was problematic in one instance.

Their expertise seems to cover a range of vehicle types, from a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy to a 2022 Ford F-250 and a Jeep Wrangler, indicating versatility in handling different makes and models involved in accidents.

Several features of York Body Shop, LLC emerge from the customer reviews, presenting both positive attributes and significant concerns. On the positive side, one notable feature is their ability to deliver high-quality aesthetic repairs for some customers. The Jeep Wrangler, after being crushed by a tree branch, "Came out looking brand new," which is a strong testament to their capability in restoring a severely damaged vehicle to its original condition. This indicates skilled technicians and proper equipment for bodywork and painting.

Another positive feature, reported by some, is their professionalism and communication regarding updates. The "Very professional services with updates of progress and timely turn arounds" suggests that when operations run smoothly, customers are kept informed and their vehicles are returned promptly.

However, the detailed negative review highlights significant counteracting features and areas of concern. A major issue is the inconsistency and potential lack of quality control in repairs. The F-250 incident, where a broken trim piece was seemingly "glued" rather than properly replaced or repaired, and subsequently came off, points to substandard workmanship. This raises serious questions about the thoroughness of their repairs and their commitment to long-lasting solutions. The comment "They just glue stuff on and can’t paint worth a crap" reflects a strong perception of low-quality work by this customer.

Furthermore, poor communication and project management appear to be a significant drawback for some customers. The repeated miscommunication regarding the "assignment" with State Farm, leading to wasted time and customer frustration, indicates organizational weaknesses. Anne's apparent unawareness of the truck's repair status further supports this. This lack of transparency and proactive communication can severely impact customer satisfaction, especially during stressful periods post-accident.

The issue of damaged vehicles while in their care is another critical concern. The two "fresh dents in the lift gate" of the Hyundai Palisade that were not present upon drop-off, even if unproven with evidence, are a serious accusation that undermines trust and the shop's responsibility for vehicles on its premises.

Finally, the negative review suggests that their longevity in business might be due to being "one of the few shops in town," rather than consistent excellence. This implies a potential lack of local competition influencing customer choice.

Regarding promotional information, York Body Shop, LLC's primary promotion would stem from its claims of being a "State Farm certified shop," implying a level of quality and adherence to insurance company standards. The positive testimonials, such as the Jeep Wrangler looking "brand new" and the "Great business that I only trust to touch my Jeep!", serve as powerful, albeit selective, endorsements. However, the very public and detailed negative review, which explicitly recommends going "anywhere but here" and suggests an alternative shop like "Caliber Collision in Newport," significantly impacts their promotional message. While businesses may highlight their certifications and successful repairs, customers are advised to weigh all available feedback. To inquire about services or estimates, interested parties can contact York Body Shop, LLC at (803) 684-5551 or +1 803-684-5551. Potential customers should consider their specific needs and review all available information, including potentially seeking multiple estimates, before committing to repairs based on the mixed customer experiences.

Please take your vehicle anywhere but here if you value your time, sanity, or car. *Very long review* Hurricane Helene brought down several large limbs that landed on our vehicles parked in our driveway. We took my wife’s car first due to the extent of the damages. We were told it would take 3 weeks to repair. After two weeks, I called to check in. I was told they haven’t even started yet because State Farm “pulled the assignment”. (Ok, thanks for letting our car sit there for two weeks without reaching out I guess?) Anne ( at York body) recommended that I call state farm. After sitting on hold forever, the State Farm representative said that they did not pull the assignment and didn’t understand why they thought they did. So I called York body back. Anne checked again and assured me that they did not have an assignment. She said that I need to call state farm again. They are supposedly a State Farm certified shop but I guess that means they can’t communicate directly with them and it is up to you to play monkey in the middle the whole time. Anyway, I call state farm again, more time wasted from my work day. Again, State Farm assured me that York body has the assignment. So I put them on a 3 way call. And guess what? York body had it all along and they just don’t know what is going on. Ok, cool. “We will start working on it”. Four weeks later, we finally get it back after our rental car time expired two weeks ago, and there are two fresh dents in the lift gate that weren’t there when we dropped it off.(2023 Hyundai palisade calligraphy) We looked high and low for any recent pictures of the car to use as evidence but unfortunately we didn’t have any so we just let it go. Now for my truck, we dropped it off two days before we got my wife’s car back and pulled the rental on my claim. They again estimated 3 weeks. They call me a little less than 2 weeks telling me they are done. Great, sounds like things are looking up. I go to pick it up first thing in the morning and jump in the bed to inspect their work. It’s morning time and there is dew all over the truck. So I wipe away the dew to see the paint job and “bam!”, the trim on the top of the cab pops off revealing that all they did was attempt to glue the broken piece of trim to the body of the truck (2022 Ford f-250). The York body guy says “ aw damn, that’s F’ed up! I can’t believe David would do that! I will make sure he has it fixed by the end of the day”. I tell him not to rush, because I want it fixed right, and I still have 5 days on my rental. So anyway, 3 days later I call to see if they are going to have it done before my rental is up or not. Anne has no idea what I’m talking about but says she would check and call me back. Never got a response. The last day of my rental, I call again. They assure me that it is done and I can pick it up. So I return my rental and go pick up the truck. I test the trim again, seems ok. Say thanks and take off. By the time I got 5 miles home, the trim had popped off and it was evident that all they did was put more glue under it and had me wait for it to cure the last 5 days. I ended up taking the truck to caliber collision in Newport and having it repaired correctly. I would stay far away from them. They just glue stuff on and can’t paint worth a crap. They have been in business a long time but I can only assume that it’s because they are one of the few shops in town. For the extra 20 minute drive, I would goto caliber in Newport. These guys need to stick to repairing farm trucks.

Had my Jeep Wrangler fixed when a large tree branch crushed the top half of my Jeep. Came out looking brand new. Very professional services with updates of progress and timely turn arounds. Great business that I only trust to touch my Jeep!

If I could give 0 stars I would. This had to be the worse automotive experience ever. My car was towed in on the recommendation of the insurance adjuster; I should have ignored this person. I understand there has been bad weather, but my car as there before the hurricane hit the area. I needed my windshield, replaced, the cowl replaced and the hood repaired. I called multiple times trying to get an update. Messages weren't returned and when the phone was answered it was by one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. The only excuse they had was the windshield was on back order, yet I called the company they use and was offered a slot within 3 days. Over 4 weeks after being dropped off I picked up a car with a dead battery(at least they jumped it), cowl was not replaced and now the start/stop warning light is on. I will be sending them the bill from a reputable shop for the repairs that are now going to cost me due to their negligence. I've also filed a complaint and sent pictures to the insurance company. Especially since they charged the insurance company to replace the cowl. Stay away from this place and pay the extra tow fee to get it someplace that will actually repair your car.

If I could leave a zero for rating I would! This is the absolute worst body shop ever! They have no communication between each partner. They fix what needs to be fixed while breaking other parts of your vehicle. Do not trust them! My car is in worst shape then I left it! I even had an insurance adjuster come out. The repairs to fix my car from the damage York Body Shop cauaed is over 7k.

Very professional and friendly. I got rear ended in my 4runner and they had me fixed up in 2 days (actually less). Replaced the bumper and color matched. I highly recommend them!
