UnitedFleet Introduce

Welcome to UnitedFleet, an auto repair station located at 109 63rd St, Des Moines, IA 50312, USA. Operating within the Auto Repair Stations category, UnitedFleet aims to provide automotive services to the local community in Des Moines, catering to both fleet vehicles and individual car owners. The customer reviews present a complex and somewhat contradictory picture, highlighting exceptional customer service and friendliness alongside serious concerns regarding diagnostic accuracy, thoroughness, and significant overcharging in at least one instance. Potential customers should carefully consider these varying experiences when evaluating UnitedFleet for their automotive needs.

As an Auto Repair Station, UnitedFleet indicates its potential to offer a comprehensive range of services related to vehicle maintenance and repair. The name "UnitedFleet" suggests they may have experience in handling the specific needs of fleet vehicles, which often require regular maintenance and efficient repairs to minimize downtime. However, the positive reviews also explicitly mention their willingness and ability to service "ma and pa old used cars" and "high end vehicles" like a Cadillac, indicating a broader service scope beyond just fleet maintenance. This suggests they position themselves as a versatile auto repair shop catering to a diverse clientele.

Based on the customer reviews, the environment at UnitedFleet appears to be characterized by a friendly and kind staff. The repeated mentions of "exceptional customer service," "very friendly and kind," and being "treated well" suggest a positive and welcoming atmosphere in their customer interaction areas. However, the reviews do not provide specific details about the physical layout or condition of their service bays or waiting areas. One can generally expect a standard auto repair shop environment with service bays equipped for various repair tasks and an area for customer reception and communication.

Given their categorization as an Auto Repair Station and the range of vehicles they reportedly service, UnitedFleet likely offers a variety of automotive services, which may include:

  • General Auto Repair: Addressing a wide range of mechanical and electrical issues affecting various vehicle systems.
  • Routine Maintenance: Performing services such as oil changes, fluid flushes, filter replacements, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Diagnostics: Utilizing tools and expertise to identify the causes of vehicle malfunctions.
  • Brake Service: Repair and replacement of brake system components.
  • Engine Repair: Addressing engine-related problems.
  • Transmission Service: While one review reported a significant overquote for a transmission replacement and a missed diagnosis, they likely offer transmission repair and maintenance services.
  • Oil Leak Repair: As mentioned in a review, they attempt to address oil leaks, though with initial lack of success in one instance.
  • Suspension and Steering: Addressing issues related to ride comfort and vehicle handling, as indicated by the repair of damaged axles.
  • Noise Diagnostics and Repair: Identifying and fixing unusual noises like knocks and squeals.
  • Work on Older Vehicles: Explicitly mentioned as servicing "ma and pa old used cars."
  • Work on High-End Vehicles: Demonstrated by servicing a Cadillac.

The features of UnitedFleet, as described by the customer reviews, present a stark contrast:

  • Exceptional Customer Service and Friendliness: This is a consistently praised aspect, with multiple reviewers highlighting the kindness and positive attitude of the staff.
  • Potentially Thorough Problem Solving: The reviews mentioning Stan, Dustin, and Kitt successfully diagnosing and fixing complex issues like knocks, squeals, leaks, and axle damage suggest that they possess the expertise to resolve problems effectively when accurately diagnosed. The persistence in addressing the oil leak, even without initial billing, also points to a commitment to fixing the issue eventually.
  • Willingness to Work on a Variety of Vehicles: They service everything from fleet vehicles to older personal cars and high-end models.

However, significant negative features are also evident:

  • Serious Diagnostic Failures and Potential Overcharging: The most concerning review details a gross misdiagnosis of a stalled car, quoting a $7,000 transmission replacement when the actual issue was a much cheaper fix (1/7th the cost). This raises serious questions about their diagnostic accuracy and potential for overcharging.
  • Lack of Thoroughness in Diagnostics: Another review explicitly states they are "the furthest thing from thorough" based on a recurring oil leak issue where the problem was misidentified multiple times. This suggests a potential pattern of not conducting comprehensive initial diagnoses.
  • Inconsistency in Service Quality: The stark contrast between the highly positive experiences of some customers and the significantly negative experiences of others indicates a potential inconsistency in their service quality or diagnostic processes.

Currently, there is no promotional information available for UnitedFleet based on the provided reviews. Auto repair stations sometimes offer promotions to attract customers, such as:

  • Discounts on specific services: Like oil changes or tire rotations.
  • Seasonal specials: Such as discounts on AC service in the summer or winterization packages.
  • Package deals: Bundling common services for a reduced price.
  • Free diagnostics: Offering a no-charge initial inspection to identify vehicle problems.
  • Coupons or online discounts: Special offers advertised online or in local publications.

To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at UnitedFleet, it is recommended to contact them directly via phone at (515) 279-5311 or +1 515-279-5311, or by visiting their location at 109 63rd St, Des Moines, IA 50312. They may also have information about their services and any ongoing promotions on their website or local online directories, if available.

In conclusion, UnitedFleet in Des Moines presents a challenging profile for potential customers. While their customer service and staff friendliness are consistently praised, there are significant red flags raised by reviews detailing serious diagnostic errors, potential overcharging, and a lack of thoroughness. Customers who have had positive experiences highlight the expertise of certain individuals like Stan, Dustin, and Kitt in resolving complex issues. However, the risk of misdiagnosis and substantial overestimation of repair costs cannot be ignored. Individuals considering UnitedFleet should weigh these contrasting experiences carefully. If you value exceptional customer service and are willing to potentially seek a second opinion on diagnoses, UnitedFleet might be an option. However, it would be prudent to obtain detailed quotes and potentially compare them with other reputable auto repair stations in the Des Moines area before committing to their services. Direct communication with UnitedFleet regarding their diagnostic processes and service guarantees may also be beneficial.

UnitedFleet Customer Reviews

Although these guys have exceptional customer service and have always been very friendly and kind, they missed the mark big time with my vehicle. I had brought it in after my car stalled out and they quoted me almost $7,000 for a new transmission. I told them I was getting a second opinion and towed to another shop and they were “still looking at it” (even after quoting me) and found out it was a much cheaper fix. I was able to get it to another shop who diagnosed it immediately and had it repaired the same day for 1/7th of the cost that United Fleet had quoted. This isn’t my only less than satisfactory experience here. I had taken my car in for an oil leak last year and they said they fixed it, and it was still leaking massive amounts of oil after that. I then had it back in the shop because of this, and they told me it was a different issue 3 different times. After they corrected the issue and fixed it, they had not billed me which was nice of them (again, the customer service is good). I returned because I was treated well in this situation. However, a diagnostic should look at all possibilities before providing a diagnosis. Although they’re nice, they are the furthest thing from thorough and will not be seeing any business from me, my family, or my friends. Very, very disappointed.

I am a creature of habit and will return to a reliable place for resolution to a problem that has the reputation and the expertise of a good automotive shop. Don’t let the word Fleet in the name deter you from checking out these guys. They do it it all from company fleet vehicles to your ma and pa old used cars. I had a knock and a couple of squeals — CEO Stan and Team Dustin resolved the issue — fantastic job! Thank you Dustin — you do good work— there are several shops— but the boys on 63rd in Des Moines try hard and won’t stop until it is fixed and you — the customer — are completely satisfied! Now it’s time to return to one of the most reliable and honest repair shops. Why? Well while driving around I heard this rattling sound as I turned a corner. Having a high end vehicle you want to make sure there are no safety issues. Not knowing much about rods and shafts — I relied on Dustin, the head mechanic on 63rd to diagnose the problem as I was to go on a road trip where I needed all car components working properly. Bingo! Dustin put his ear to the metal and soon figured that damaged axles were causing much of the noise I was hearing— this is where Kitt sprung into action and fixed it. Now my Cadillac rides like a Cadillac should — smooth as silk thanks to the top guns Dustin and Kitt! Recently I had to take my old suburban I call THE BEAST in due to leaks and a series of grinding noises. The reliable team of Shelton, Dustin and head CEO — Stan were able to work me in for a week worth of work. I knew the cost would be $$ that would put my mind to rest with the end result being an old vehicle that has no leaks, no grinding and runs like the days of old - NEW. Thanks Team Dustin!

I came in here a few days ago cause my check engine light came on and I wanted to see what was wrong with my car. I can even put into words how amazing and helpful the staff were to me. They answered any and all questions that I had and even aired up my tire for me! Great service great staff will recommend to my friends and family and will most certainly be coming back for future service.

Pur my truck up on the lift so I could freely examine it on my own. And even assisted me with light and a compressor. They quoted me a price for some shock installation. And was fair. I had day off so I managed doing it myself. But would have been So much easier to have let them. The have the facilities. They didn't charge me at all for their time or anything.

I have my "regular" mechanic but when I just can't there (ie forgot and am overdue for oil change), this United Fleet is awesome. Always nice gentlemen working at the front desk and on my vehicle. Even answered a non-oil change question without trying to charge me anything!
