Tom's Auto Repair Introduce

Welcome to Tom's Auto Repair, your local auto repair station situated at 66 Montauk Hwy #1128 in Blue Point, Long Island, New York. As a part of the Auto Repair Stations platform category, Tom's Auto Repair aims to provide a range of automotive services to the Blue Point community and surrounding areas. Understanding the importance of reliable and trustworthy vehicle maintenance and repair, Tom's Auto Repair focuses on delivering quality workmanship. However, it's essential for local users to consider all aspects of the service, including pricing, based on available customer feedback.

The customer reviews for Tom's Auto Repair present a somewhat mixed perspective. One customer, who has been a patron for the past three years, offers a glowing recommendation, stating that "Tim is very friendly and does great work. Trustworthy and reasonable. Definitely recommend!" This positive review highlights the friendly demeanor of the staff, particularly someone named Tim, the quality of the work performed, and the perceived reasonableness of the prices. This long-term customer's experience suggests that Tom's Auto Repair has built a reputation for trustworthiness and good service within a segment of its clientele.

However, another customer's recent experience paints a different picture, primarily concerning the cost of services, especially tire replacements. This customer recounted paying a total of $540 for an inspection, oil change, and two rear tires. They had initially contacted Tom's Auto Repair solely for the inspection and oil change but were informed that their vehicle would not pass inspection without the replacement of two tires. While the customer admitted to not personally verifying the condition of their tires beforehand, they expressed dissatisfaction with the overall cost. They specifically highlighted the price of the tires ($110 each plus a $75 labor charge for installation) compared to another local tire shop, Sayville Tire, which quoted $80 per tire including all associated costs for the same tire. This significant price difference led the customer to feel that they were overcharged, especially since they felt somewhat "forced" into the tire replacement to pass the inspection. The customer expressed disappointment with the total expense, noting that they could have replaced all four tires elsewhere for a slightly higher price than what they paid for just two at Tom's Auto Repair.

Given the conflicting feedback, it's challenging to definitively describe the environment of Tom's Auto Repair. The positive review doesn't offer any details, while the negative review focuses solely on the cost of services and the perceived necessity of the repairs. Typically, an auto repair station aims to have a functional space for both customer interaction and service work. Customers might expect a reception area where they can discuss their vehicle's needs, and the service bays would be equipped with the necessary tools and equipment for various automotive repairs and maintenance. The emphasis on "great work" in one review suggests that the service environment is conducive to quality repairs, even if specific details about its cleanliness or aesthetics are not provided.

Based on the customer reviews, Tom's Auto Repair likely offers a range of standard automotive services. The services explicitly mentioned include:

  • Vehicle Inspections: The shop performs inspections, which are a standard service at auto repair stations to assess the overall condition and safety of a vehicle. The experience shared by one customer indicates that passing the inspection might be contingent on addressing identified issues, such as tire conditions.
  • Oil Changes: A routine maintenance service essential for engine health, oil changes are offered at Tom's Auto Repair.
  • Tire Replacement: The shop provides tire replacement services, including the sale and installation of new tires. However, as highlighted in a review, the pricing for tires and the associated labor costs may be higher compared to specialized tire shops.

Beyond these explicitly mentioned services, it is reasonable to assume that Tom's Auto Repair, as an "Auto Repair Station," offers a broader range of services, which could include:

  • General Automotive Repair: Addressing various mechanical and electrical issues that a vehicle may encounter.
  • Brake Services: Including inspection, repair, and replacement of brake components.
  • Engine Diagnostics and Repair: Identifying and resolving engine-related problems.
  • Transmission Services: Covering maintenance and repair of the transmission system.
  • Electrical System Services: Addressing issues with the battery, alternator, starter, and other electrical components.
  • Steering and Suspension Services: Maintaining the vehicle's handling and ride comfort.
  • Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Services: Ensuring a comfortable cabin environment.

The features of Tom's Auto Repair appear to be a point of contention based on the available reviews. The positive review emphasizes the friendliness of Tim, the great quality of work, and the trustworthiness and reasonableness of the service. These are significant positive features that can build customer loyalty. However, the negative review highlights a potential drawback: the pricing, particularly for tires and possibly other services, which one customer found to be significantly more expensive than a competitor. The perceived pressure to undertake a repair (tire replacement) to pass inspection is also a point to consider. Therefore, while Tom's Auto Repair may offer friendly and trustworthy service with good quality work, potential customers should be mindful of their pricing, especially for parts like tires, and perhaps consider obtaining quotes for comparison.

The provided information does not include any specific promotional offers for Tom's Auto Repair. Auto repair stations sometimes offer promotions such as:

  • Discounts on Routine Maintenance: Offering reduced prices for services like oil changes or seasonal check-ups.
  • Package Deals: Bundling services at a lower overall cost.
  • Coupons or Special Offers: Advertising discounts on specific repairs or services.
  • New Customer Incentives: Providing a special offer for first-time visitors.

To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at Tom's Auto Repair, it is recommended to contact them directly at (631) 363-3600 or +1 631-363-3600.

In conclusion, Tom's Auto Repair, located at 66 Montauk Hwy #1128, Blue Point, NY 11715, appears to be an auto repair station that has garnered positive feedback for its friendly service, particularly from Tim, the trustworthiness of its work, and the overall quality of repairs. However, it's crucial for local users to be aware of potential concerns regarding pricing, especially for parts like tires, as indicated by a recent customer experience. While one long-term customer found the prices reasonable, another felt significantly overcharged compared to a competitor. Therefore, while Tom's Auto Repair may offer reliable service, it would be prudent for potential customers to inquire about pricing and perhaps compare costs for specific services, especially parts replacements, with other local auto repair or specialty shops before committing to work. For specific service inquiries or to schedule an appointment, please contact them via phone.

Tom's Auto Repair Customer Reviews

Have been going to Tom’s Auto for the past three years. Tim is very friendly and does great work. Trustworthy and reasonable. Definitely recommend!

Nice people, but very expensive. Payed $540 for an inspection, oil change, and 2 rear tires. Originally called just for the inspection and oil change but was told my car wouldn’t pass without the two new tires. I don’t think my tires were that bad but I didn’t check before hand so oh well. Either way I’m not happy with what I paid and felt forced into doing it otherwise I would’ve had to pay the failed inspection then get tires else where and pay for another inspection. I called Sayville tire after the fact, and they do the SAME TIRE for $80 each including everything. Tom’s charged me $110 per tire plus half hour of labor ($75) to install them. I understand that they’re not a tire shop, but how do you get away with charging an additional 135 dollars. Could’ve changed all 4 of my tires for only about 30 bucks more elsewhere. Very disappointed and broke now…

Called my local Honda place and they couldn't get me in for 2 days. My brakes were absolutely shot. So I googled local mechanic places and this one looked great. Tim who answered the phone was extremely friendly and personable. I was able to bring my car in asap. Quick, quality and honest work..would highly recommend and will be coming back again (but hopefully not TOO soon!) 5 star
