TA Truck Service Introduce

TA Truck Service, located at 6 Buckhorn Rd, Bloomsburg, PA 17815, USA, operates as a significant "Auto Repair Station" primarily catering to heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles. Situated conveniently off I-80, Exit 232, this location is part of the larger TravelCenters of America network, a well-known name in the trucking industry. The facility can be reached at (570) 463-4364, with the same number serving as a mobile contact, underscoring its accessibility for professional drivers on the road.

Environment and Facilities

As a key component of a TravelCenters of America (TA) site, the Bloomsburg TA Truck Service offers more than just a repair bay. It is integrated within a comprehensive travel center designed to meet the diverse needs of professional truck drivers. The environment typically includes:

  • Multiple Service Bays: The Bloomsburg location features four dedicated truck service bays, allowing them to service multiple heavy-duty vehicles simultaneously. These bays are equipped with specialized lifts and tools necessary for truck and trailer maintenance and repair.

  • 24/7 Operations: A significant feature of TA Truck Service centers is their round-the-clock operation for in-bay services, meaning mechanics are available at all hours, every day of the year. This is crucial for long-haul truckers who operate on demanding schedules.

  • Integrated Amenities: Being part of a larger TA travel center, drivers have access to a wide array of amenities while their trucks are being serviced. These often include fuel stations (Shell gas or diesel), convenience stores, restaurants (like Subway), clean restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, game rooms, and fitness rooms. There are also ample parking spaces, with the Bloomsburg location offering 190 truck parking spaces, some of which may be reserved/paid.

  • Roadside Assistance: TA Truck Service locations are equipped to provide 24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance, a critical service for truckers who face breakdowns far from a service center. This service aims to offer a consistent rate regardless of the time or day.

  • Parts Inventory: To facilitate quick repairs, TA Truck Service locations typically maintain a significant inventory of common truck parts, aiming to have over 200 parts in stock to minimize downtime for drivers.

While the goal is to provide a clean and safe environment, some customer feedback has occasionally pointed to issues with cleanliness in broader TA/Petro facilities, which might impact the overall perception of the service environment.

Comprehensive Services Offered

TA Truck Service in Bloomsburg, as a specialized "Auto Repair Station" for heavy-duty vehicles, offers an extensive range of services designed to keep commercial trucks on the road. These services are performed by highly skilled technicians, many of whom hold ASE and TIA certifications.

  • Preventive Maintenance (PM): This is a cornerstone service, offering comprehensive PM programs beyond basic oil and filter changes. Technicians perform thorough inspections of all truck components prone to wear and tear, providing electronic checklists of services performed. They utilize high-quality products like Castrol heavy-duty diesel engine oil and Fleetguard filters.

  • Brake Service: Including inspection, repair, and replacement of brake components for trucks and trailers.

  • Computer Diagnostics: Advanced diagnostics to troubleshoot complex electronic and mechanical issues in modern trucks.

  • Tire Services: A full suite of tire-related services including service and mounting of standard tires, nail hole repair, all-wheel alignment, and sales of major tire brands (Michelin, BFG, Uniroyal, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Continental, Yokohama, Cooper) and retreads. They participate in all major National Tire Account programs.

  • Emergency Roadside Assistance (RoadSquad): 24/7 mobile repair service for breakdowns, aiming for quick response and a consistent pricing structure with no call-out fees or time minimums for after-hours or weekend service.

  • Engine and Drivetrain Repair: Addressing issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and other drivetrain components, including DPF cleaning.

  • Electrical System Repair: Diagnosis and repair of electrical issues within the truck and trailer.

  • Trailer Repair: Dedicated services for various types of trailers, including brake, tire, and potentially refrigeration repair as suggested by some broader TA network information.

  • Other Services: This can include anything from fluid services, lighting repair, and exhaust system work to addressing issues with HVAC systems.

Their focus is on getting professional drivers back on the road quickly and safely, with all work backed by a nationwide limited warranty across the TA Truck Service network.

Key Features and Customer Experience

TA Truck Service locations, including the one in Bloomsburg, aim to distinguish themselves through several operational features:

  • Nationwide Network: Being part of TravelCenters of America, they offer a vast network of service centers across the country, providing consistent service standards and warranty support.

  • ASE and TIA Certified Technicians: A significant emphasis is placed on the expertise of their technicians, with many holding industry certifications to ensure quality workmanship.

  • 24/7 Availability: The continuous operation of their service bays is a critical feature for the trucking industry, minimizing downtime for drivers.

  • Mobile App Integration: Services like RoadSquad and service requests can be managed through the TruckSmart Mobile App, aiming to streamline the process for drivers.

However, customer reviews indicate that while these features are in place, the actual customer experience can be inconsistent. The provided reviews highlight significant challenges:

  • Service Quality Concerns: One driver reported a "worst experience" where a simple air hose replacement job took 10 hours of waiting, followed by a mechanic's error that required the driver to spend 3 hours fixing it himself. This raises concerns about the quality of some repairs and the proficiency of certain mechanics.

  • Communication Issues: The same customer mentioned difficulty in reaching the shop by phone, with calls often going unanswered or only receiving apologies for delays. This suggests a breakdown in communication channels, which can be highly frustrating for drivers on tight schedules.

  • Lack of Accountability/Follow-up: The customer's complaint about being charged for a job that wasn't correctly completed, without recourse for the mechanic's error, points to issues with accountability in their roadside assistance service.

  • Disruptive Behavior: Another review detailed a highly negative experience with a mechanic deliberately hitting the truck at 3:30 AM, disrupting the driver's sleep. This points to professionalism and conduct issues that severely impact customer comfort and trust.

These reviews suggest that while TA Truck Service aims for high standards, there can be significant variability in service execution and customer interaction at specific locations, leading to frustration and a perception of poor value for money.

Promotional Information and Value Proposition

TA Truck Service's promotional efforts focus on attracting professional drivers and commercial fleets with promises of comprehensive, reliable, and efficient service. Their value proposition is built around:

  • Nationwide Consistency and Warranty: The assurance of a network-wide warranty and consistent service standards across their numerous locations is a key selling point for fleet managers and independent drivers.

  • 24/7 Availability: Emphasizing their round-the-clock operation and emergency roadside assistance ensures drivers can get help anytime, anywhere.

  • Certified Technicians and Quality Parts: Promoting the expertise of their ASE and TIA certified technicians and the use of quality parts, including partnerships with major tire brands, aims to build trust in their workmanship.

  • Fleet Programs and Discounts: TA Truck Service offers benefits for commercial fleets and partners with fuel card providers (like TCS Fuel Card) to provide discounts on preventive maintenance and tires. OTR (Over-the-Road) clients can receive discounts by providing their DOT number at checkout, including dealer-level pricing on certain tire brands through December 2025.

  • Integrated Travel Center Experience: The convenience of having repair services co-located with fuel, food, rest, and other amenities is a significant draw for professional drivers, minimizing time spent off the road.

Despite these promotions and inherent advantages of a large network, the negative customer feedback underscores the challenge of consistently delivering on these promises at every location. For local users, particularly professional truck drivers passing through Bloomsburg, TA Truck Service offers a full range of heavy-duty vehicle services with the convenience of a large travel center, but prospective customers should be aware of the mixed customer experiences reported by others.

TA Truck Service Customer Reviews

The worst experience with mechanic shop I ever had. I broke 2 air hoses connected to the brake chamber at the trailer on 2 miles from the shop. this is 10 min job come and change them I already remove the old ones and they must only install the new ones it’s easy. I spent 10 hours just to wait on the shoulder the “mechanic” come and install new ones for 10 mins he drive away without checking the brakes when I try to move on forward the brake chamber doesn’t release. Then i try to release it manually and still doesn’t move. Then I realizing that probably the “mechanic” messed up the air hoses and put in the wrong spots. And I was right I change them and the brake chamber release. All this took me 3 hours to fix the mechanics mistake. So drivers if it’s possible don’t use their roadside assistance, because is doesn’t matter if they fix the problem or not you will pay the invoice. And to TA general manager please take attention when hire a people and test them before put them on the mechanic position. Also I forget to tell that they don’t pick up the phone, I call them a a lot of time and they don’t pick up the phone or if they take the phone they just apologize for the delay nothing else.

I'm furious, they told me that early in the morning, no earlier than 9 am, a mechanic would come and change the wheel, but at 3:30 am, this crazy guy started hitting my truck with all his might on purpose, I only slept for 2:30 minutes and he ruined my sleep. I'll never come here again!!! Hitting the truck with all his might was really done on purpose.

Went to the restaurant, nice clean food was good. It's nice they have a full service restaurant not just fast food. Be better if it was open 24 hrs for drivers. Store and rest rooms were clean overall nice.

They sent a inexperienced part's changer to service my tire that could barely get the lug nuts off then refused to sell me the tire if I didn't get towed to there shop for a repair that I didn't need sat on the shoulder for 11 hours until another service provider came to tell me what I already knew that I didn't need the new part they wanted to sell me and get towed to there shop...smh
