T L Wood's Introduce

T L Wood's, located at 1210 2nd Ave NW, Stewartville, MN 55976, USA, is a specialized auto parts store primarily focusing on the manufacturing and sale of aluminum truck accessories. While categorized under "Auto Repair Stations," it's important to clarify that T L Wood's does not primarily perform auto repair services on vehicles themselves. Instead, they provide the essential goods for sale – high-quality, durable aluminum products – that are integral to the functionality, safety, and customization of semi-trucks and work trucks. They have been a source for quality truck accessories since 1976. You can contact them via their toll-free number at (800) 533-7541 or their mobile phone at +1 800-533-7541.

As an "Auto Repair Station" from the perspective of supplying goods, T L Wood's plays a crucial role in the heavy-duty and commercial vehicle sector. They provide specialized components and accessories that are often installed by truck owners, fleet maintenance teams, or other auto repair stations that service commercial vehicles. Their goods are designed to enhance the utility, storage, and appearance of trucks, directly supporting the needs of the trucking industry and individual truck owners in Stewartville and across a wider region. This niche focus differentiates them significantly from a general auto parts store or a car repair shop, as they cater to a specific, heavy-duty automotive market segment.

Environment and Facilities

Given their specialization in manufacturing and selling aluminum truck accessories, T L Wood's likely operates from a facility that combines production capabilities with a showroom or sales office. The environment would be geared towards metal fabrication and storage of finished products. Key aspects of their facility would likely include:

  • Fabrication Workshop: Equipped with machinery for working with aluminum, such as shears, brakes, welders, and possibly CNC equipment for precision cutting and shaping. This is where custom headache racks, toolboxes, and other accessories would be manufactured.
  • Warehouse/Storage Area: A significant space would be required to store raw aluminum materials, work in progress, and a substantial inventory of finished products like various headache racks, toolboxes, fenders, and flatbeds, ready for sale and shipping.
  • Customer Service/Sales Office: A dedicated area for customers to inquire about products, place custom orders, and handle transactions. This would likely be distinct from the fabrication area.
  • Loading/Receiving Docks: Essential for handling the large and often heavy products they manufacture and distribute.
The address on 2nd Ave NW in Stewartville suggests an industrial or commercial area, typical for businesses involved in manufacturing and distributing large vehicle components. The operational environment would prioritize functionality, safety, and efficiency in production and distribution of specialized truck accessories.

Services and Goods Offered

T L Wood's specializes in aluminum truck accessories, offering both standard products and custom-made designs to meet specific customer needs. Their product line is divided into categories for semi-tractors and work/pickup trucks:

Semi-Tractor Line:

  • Chain Hangers: For securing chains and binders.
  • Headache Racks (Cabinet Headache Racks | Cab Guards): Designed to protect the cab from shifting cargo, often incorporating storage compartments. This is a highly requested item, as indicated by the customer review.
  • Toolboxes: Various sizes and configurations for storing tools and equipment on semi-trucks.
  • Deck Plates: For covering the frame rails behind the cab, providing a stable surface.
  • Fenders: Aluminum fenders for protecting tires.
  • Other Accessories: A range of additional aluminum components for semi-trucks.

Work Truck and Pickup Products:

  • Service Bodies: Customized truck beds with integrated compartments for tools and equipment, ideal for service professionals.
  • Flatbeds: Aluminum flatbeds for increased hauling capacity and versatility.
  • Toppers: Truck bed covers or caps, often aluminum for durability.
  • Fuel Tanks: Auxiliary fuel tanks for extended range.
  • Toolboxes: Various designs for work trucks and pickups, including cross-bed, side-mount, and chest boxes.
  • Cab Boxes / Back Packs: Storage solutions mounted directly behind the truck cab.
  • Custom Made Designs and Sizes: A significant feature is their ability to create custom products to satisfy specific customer requirements, offering tailored solutions that might not be available off-the-shelf.
While they primarily sell goods, their "services" implicitly include expert consultation on truck accessory needs, custom design and fabrication, and potentially direct installation support or guidance for their products. They are a manufacturer and supplier, rather than a repair service provider.

Features and Customer Experience

Customer feedback provides insight into T L Wood's operational aspects and the customer experience, albeit with a mixed perspective:

  • Specialization and Customization: A clear feature is their focus on "quality truck accessories" made from aluminum and their capability for "custom made designs and custom sizes." This makes them a unique provider for specific needs that might not be met by generic auto parts stores. The fact that a customer was looking for a "locker headache rack for a semi" underscores their niche market.
  • Product Range: They offer a comprehensive range of aluminum products for both semi-tractors and work trucks, indicating a good selection for their target market.
  • Shipping and Receiving Efficiency: One positive review specifically notes, "All good in the shipping and receiving department," which is crucial for a business that distributes specialized products, suggesting efficient logistics for product delivery and acceptance.
  • Customer Service Challenges (Phone): A significant negative point raised by a customer is the difficulty in getting through via phone. Reports of "sitting on hold for over an hour" and "another 30 minutes" without resolution indicate potential issues with phone line staffing or a high volume of calls. This can lead to frustration and lost business, as the customer "Took my business else where that was more interested in my business." The inability to get a price quickly, even for a specific item, highlights a communication bottleneck.
Overall, while their product specialization and the positive note on shipping/receiving are strong points, the critical feedback on phone accessibility points to an area for improvement in customer communication. The business's longevity (since 1976) suggests a generally robust operation despite individual customer service incidents.

Promotional Information

Based on their business type and the available information, T L Wood's promotional strategies would likely focus on their unique offerings and their long-standing presence in the industry:

  • Highlighting Specialization: Emphasizing their expertise in "quality aluminum truck accessories" for both semi-tractors and work trucks, positioning themselves as a go-to source for these specific needs.
  • Customization Capabilities: Actively promoting their ability to create "custom made designs and custom sizes" would be a major draw for customers with unique requirements, showcasing their design and fabrication prowess.
  • Online Presence: Their website (tlwoods.com) serves as a primary promotional platform, allowing customers to "browse our selection of durable and reliable aluminum truck products and accessories" and providing contact information.
  • Direct Communication: Encouraging customers to "Give us a call at 1.800.533.7541" for inquiries, although the customer review suggests this needs improvement in terms of responsiveness.
  • Trade Shows and Industry Publications: Given their niche in truck accessories, participating in trucking industry trade shows or advertising in relevant publications could reach their target audience effectively.
  • Quality and Durability: Stressing the "durable and reliable" nature of their aluminum products, which is important for heavy-duty applications where longevity is valued.
  • Long-Standing Reputation: Leveraging their operational history "since 1976" to convey experience and reliability in the market.
For local users and those in the broader region of Stewartville, T L Wood's represents a specialized manufacturing and supply hub for truck accessories. While direct customer service experiences over the phone may vary, their unique product offering and long history in the industry make them a notable presence for truck owners and businesses seeking high-quality aluminum components.

T L Wood's Customer Reviews

To bad they didn't post prices on stuff, after sitting on hold for over and hour I hung up and called back and was immediately put on hold for another 30 minutes til I got tired of sitting there and hung up for the 2nd time. Took my business else where that was more interested in my business, and all I was doing was trying to get a price on a locker headache rack for a semi.
