Staria Automotive Introduce

Staria Automotive, located at 15 Park Hill Dr, Selden, NY 11784, USA, functions as an "Auto Repair Station" providing services for local vehicle owners. The business can be reached at (631) 698-4563 for inquiries and appointments.

The location in Selden, New York, positions Staria Automotive within a suburban community in Suffolk County, Long Island. Selden, part of the Town of Brookhaven, is characterized by residential areas and local commercial zones. Park Hill Drive, while not a major thoroughfare like Middle Country Road, would serve the immediate local community. In such an environment, residents rely heavily on their vehicles for daily commutes, errands, and family activities, creating a consistent demand for dependable and accessible auto repair services. The convenience of a local repair shop that can quickly address common vehicle issues is highly valued by the community.

While specific operating hours are not explicitly provided in the prompt, typical hours for an auto repair station in a suburban setting would generally include weekday business hours and possibly Saturday mornings, allowing flexibility for customers to bring in their vehicles. The fact that one customer mentioned being helped "on a Saturday morning" suggests they operate during at least part of the weekend.

As an "Auto Repair Station," Staria Automotive would typically offer a range of general automotive repair and maintenance services. Based on the positive customer feedback, these services would likely include:

  • General Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Identifying the root cause of vehicle issues.
  • Routine Maintenance: Oil changes, fluid checks and flushes, filter replacements (air, cabin, fuel), and multi-point vehicle inspections.
  • Brake Services: Inspection, repair, and replacement of brake pads, rotors, and other brake components.
  • Tire Services: Tire rotation, balancing, and possibly flat tire repair, although direct tire sales are not confirmed.
  • Suspension and Steering Repairs: Addressing issues with shocks, struts, and steering components to ensure proper vehicle handling.
  • Battery Services: Testing and replacement.
  • Engine System Repairs: Addressing issues related to the engine, including check engine light diagnostics, tune-ups, and minor repairs.

One review specifically mentions "Staria's Transmission's," indicating that transmission repair is a service they are either directly involved with or have a close affiliation with. However, the nature of this affiliation and its implications for customer experience is a complex and highly contentious point, as detailed in one of the reviews.

The features of Staria Automotive, as perceived by customers, are significantly mixed, presenting a dichotomy between efficiency and significant customer service/liability issues:

  • Efficiency and Quick Service (Positive Feedback): One customer describes Staria Automotive as a "hidden gem!" praising their ability to "help me on a Saturday morning with NO frustration!" despite a "line out of the door." This highlights a key feature of being able to handle a high volume of work efficiently and without causing stress to the customer, leading to positive experiences for immediate needs. This suggests effective workflow management and competent general mechanics.
  • Customer Satisfaction for General Repairs: The intent of the positive reviewer to "be coming back for all of my car troubles" indicates satisfaction with the general repair services received.
  • Significant Customer Service and Business Ethics Concerns (Negative Feedback): The second review presents a severe and detailed negative experience. The core issue revolves around a separate business, "Staria's Transmission's," which the customer alleges is "owned by Staria's automotive as per the New York State BBB" and registered under Staria Automotive's address. The customer claims repeated failures to repair their transmission over two years, a successful small claims court judgment, and subsequent refusal by Staria Automotive (specifically, an individual believed to be the owner) to honor the judgment, citing that the customer "dealt with the transmission shop deal with the transmission shop." This raises critical concerns about:
    • Business Affiliation and Liability: The customer's assertion that Staria Automotive is legally responsible for the now-closed "Staria's Transmission's" due to shared registration information.
    • Resolution of Disputes: The apparent unwillingness of Staria Automotive's management to resolve a court-confirmed debt, leading to extreme frustration and public outcry.
    • Customer Service Conduct: The owner being described as "rude as ever" when confronted with a judgment.
    • Long-Term Reliability: The "two years of attempts to rectify the situation" without success points to potential issues with the quality or completeness of specialized repairs, particularly transmissions.

This stark contrast means that while Staria Automotive might be efficient for general, quick-turnaround services, there are serious questions raised about their handling of complex, long-term issues, particularly those involving affiliated businesses and legal obligations. The negative review explicitly serves as a warning regarding potential disputes and resolution processes.

In terms of promotional information, the positive aspects mentioned by one customer—speed, lack of frustration, and efficient service—would be the primary promotional points for general auto repair. Phrases like "hidden gem" suggest word-of-mouth appeal for customers seeking quick, competent service for routine issues. However, the highly negative and detailed review acts as a significant counter-promotion, which potential customers would likely encounter during online searches. For the business to maintain or improve its reputation, any promotional efforts would need to address these public concerns, perhaps by emphasizing clear service agreements, transparent liability for affiliated entities, or a commitment to resolving customer disputes fairly. Without a direct response or more information, it is difficult to detail how Staria Automotive actively promotes itself beyond general customer acquisition for routine services. Their current promotional efforts would likely be undermined by the severe public allegations.

In conclusion, Staria Automotive at 15 Park Hill Dr, Selden, NY, operates as an "Auto Repair Station" known by some customers for its fast, efficient, and frustration-free general automotive services. This makes it an appealing option for quick repairs and routine maintenance in the local Selden community. However, the business also faces significant public allegations concerning its association with a now-closed transmission shop, involving a small claims court judgment and disputes over financial liability and customer service. This creates a dual narrative for Staria Automotive, where potential customers might weigh the convenience of general service against serious concerns about transparency, business ethics, and the handling of complex or disputed repairs, especially if they are related to transmission issues or affiliated entities.

A hidden gem! I got there as the shop was opening and there was a line out of the door! These guys were able to help me on a Saturday morning with NO frustration! Will be coming back for all of my car troubles.

I took my car to Staria’s Transmission ‘s, which is owned by Staria’s automotive as per the New York State BBB. They tried to repair my transmission and failed after two years of attempts to rectify the situation. After winning in small claims court, I reached out to Staria Automotive because the transmission shop down the block that they own based on the Better Business Bureau‘s website which was registered under Staria‘s automotive’s address is now closed. I spoke with what I believe was the owner after winning my judgment and he was as rude as ever stating I dealt with the transmission shop deal with the transmission shop. What his inexperienced self does not know is if you register a business under your current business it is that current businesses responsibility if the DBA is no longer in business. He should have registered it as Staria’s Transmission ‘s if he didn’t want this to happen all I am looking for is the $4000 that I paid and I am owed back. The decent thing to do would be for Staria automotive to man up and pay me the 4000 they owe me which was confirmed by Suffolk County Small Claims Court. Hey Staria - You Will Pay Me I Will Get MY Money Back =]

Excellent place, good group of people. They do my inspections every year for the last few years and take me right in and get me out quickly.

Brought my car in for a few issues, they had an entire week to fix the issues I requested. Go to pick it up and I barely made it out of the parking lot and the traction control light comes on. I want to add that was not one of the issues I gave it to them with, it wasn't an issue at all. I bring it back and they test it with the computer and take it for rides. Turns out in the process of fixing one of the other issues my car had they installed a defective part that caused a whole new issue, I want to mention again they had my car for A WEEK. The guy tells me, " oh you can leave it and we'll fix it next week we are closing for the day." I paid what I thought was a fair price and stupidly expected it to be fixed not have more issues.

Recently I had the pleasure of having my car repaired at Staria. I was on my way to work when I noticed that one of my tires had only 7lbs of air. I went to Staria whom I used in the past many many times. Daryl immediately took my car in and saw that I had a screw in my tire. He had a qualified mechanic repair the tire right away. Daryl was my Superman that day!! Great work & Great guys! Oh and I made it to work on time!!! Thanks for the quick & excellent service!!!!!
