South Bay Ford Fleet & Truck Center Customer Reviews

We brought our RV in for service on 09/20/2024 because the check engine light was on and it was not passing a smog test. We did not have any other issues with the engine - it ran well and did not have any engine power issues. When we dropped the RV off, we instructed the service technician to turn off the cutoff switches for both batteries so they would not drain completely. The service advisor Chuck finally was able to look at the RV and ran a compression test. He advised me on 11/7/24 that the compression levels were low on several cylinders and told me I needed a new engine for $24K. I told him I did not want to replace the engine and would come pick it up when it was put back together. He did not offer me a cylinder leak-down test, which would have let me know where the cylinders were losing compression. I came in on 11/26/24 to pick up the RV. The engine battery and house battery were both dead. A service technician brought over a battery charger in an attempt to jump the house battery. He inadvertently connected 24 V to the engine battery. I noticed the battery was outgassing and took a short video. The tech immediately pulled the cable on the battery charger (although it had been charging on 24V for 8 minutes as this point.) That is when we realized it was 24V. I brought the situation to the attention of Chuck. The 24V was hooked up for about 7-8 minutes. Chuck brought out a new battery and we restarted the engine. The engine was able to start but barely idled at around 300-400 rpm. When given any gas, the engine would cut out immediately. After multiple attempts to start the engine, we had the same symptoms. Over the course of the next month, South Bay Ford diagnosed and replaced the PCM module, which was damaged by the 24V jump start. I was advised on 01/03/25 that the engine was running again and that I could come pick up the RV. When I came in to pick up the RV, it now has a new problem. It starts up right away and rough idles at 400 rpm for about 25-30 seconds before it increases to 1,100 rpms, where it remains from that point on. It drives without any issues. If I try to give it gas in the first 25 seconds, it does not respond at all (does not rev up, does not stall.) When I had dropped off the RV, it idled at ~750-800 rpms. I believe the 24V jump start impacted some other components such as the idle air control valve. I brought this to the service advisor's attention, but he is telling me it's related to the low compression. But I have never had this issue in the past. He is not willing to fix this issue, which was caused by the 24V jump start from their technician. I just want my RV in the same state it was when I brought it in. And I don't want to wait months for them to return it to that state.

Dwayne, Gabe and the team do a great job, well worth a little extra. I’ve been coming here for 5 years for oil changes and maintenance for my 2003 ford e350 diesel surf bus, which has traveled to 47 states in that time. I appreciate their reliability, speediness and honesty as I live in my vehicle and use it for my businesses - so I rely on their trustworthiness both for routine maintenance, diagnosis, and part replacements.

We had issues with our 2013 Ford F250 truck and servicing was a problem. After having worked with several dealerships with no positive results, Dwayne Granguillhome, Fleet Service Mgr. came to our rescue. He stayed in touch again and again assisting us with a resolution. Thank you Dwayne for your persistence! We really appreciated your help.

Had an oil leak. They said they'd start by replacing the dummy plugs and "go from there." $4400.. engine reseal for $12k.. Found an outside guy who looked at it and replaced the seals that connect the oil filter mount. That was it. He charged me $60.. This place just steals your money. Don't go.
