Shanburn and Sons Mobile Truck & Trailer Repair Introduce
Shanburn and Sons Mobile Truck & Trailer Repair operates as an automotive service provider situated at 30934A Industrial Rd, Livonia, MI 48150, USA. As a business categorized under "Auto Repair Stations," they position themselves to serve the needs of the commercial trucking and trailer industry, offering both shop-based and mobile repair solutions. Their service model aims to address the unique demands of heavy-duty vehicles, which often require specialized expertise and a more flexible approach to maintenance and repair than standard passenger vehicles.
Given its address in an industrial area, it's reasonable to infer that the physical environment of Shanburn and Sons likely consists of a robust workshop capable of accommodating large trucks and trailers. This type of facility typically features multiple bays, heavy-duty lifts, and specialized equipment necessary for diagnosing and repairing commercial vehicles. The industrial setting suggests a practical, no-frills environment focused on functionality and efficiency for heavy vehicle service. Beyond their fixed location, the "Mobile" aspect of their name indicates they also provide on-site repair services, meaning their operational environment can extend to the roadside, trucking depots, or other locations where commercial vehicles might break down or require immediate attention. This mobile service is a critical offering for the trucking industry, minimizing downtime and logistical challenges for operators.
Shanburn and Sons Mobile Truck & Trailer Repair primarily focuses on the repair and maintenance of trucks and trailers. While a detailed list of every specific service isn't available, the nature of their business within the "Auto Repair Stations" category for heavy-duty vehicles implies a comprehensive range of services. These would generally include, but are not limited to:
- Engine Repair and Diagnostics: Addressing issues with truck engines, including complex diagnostics, overhauls, and routine maintenance.
- Transmission and Drivetrain Services: Repairing or replacing transmissions, clutches (as mentioned in a customer review), and other drivetrain components critical for heavy-duty operation.
- Brake Systems: Inspection, repair, and replacement of air brakes and hydraulic brake systems found in trucks and trailers.
- Suspension and Steering: Maintenance and repair of suspension components for stability and ride comfort, as well as steering system issues.
- Electrical Systems: Troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical systems in modern trucks and trailers, including lighting, charging, and diagnostic systems.
- Trailer Repair: Addressing structural, electrical, brake, and suspension issues specific to various types of trailers (e.g., dry vans, flatbeds, reefers).
- Mobile Roadside Assistance: A key service for truck and trailer breakdowns on the road, providing on-site diagnostics and repairs to get vehicles operational quickly. This minimizes the need for costly towing and extensive downtime.
- Preventive Maintenance: Regular servicing like oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and inspections to prevent major breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
Their capability to handle significant jobs like clutch replacement, as indicated by customer feedback, suggests they are equipped for major mechanical repairs rather than just minor fixes.
The available customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences, which is a significant feature to acknowledge objectively. On one hand, there is a highly negative review detailing a problematic experience, including accusations of excessive charges, delayed service, and unprofessional conduct. This particular account describes a perceived lack of transparency, slow turnaround times for a clutch replacement (taking "3 working days" for a job estimated at "8 hours"), and allegations of working in conjunction with a specific tow service in a potentially exploitative manner. The reviewer also explicitly mentions rudeness and disrespect from staff. This perspective paints a picture of a business that, in this instance, fell short on crucial aspects of customer service, efficiency, and ethical practice.
Conversely, another review offers overwhelmingly positive feedback. This customer, with 15 years in trucking, describes Shanburn and Sons as "the best truck repair shop," highlighting professionalism, courtesy, honesty, and a "loving" family-owned and operated atmosphere. This review emphasizes that customers are treated "as part of the family," praising their knowledge, humor, and care. Specific individuals like "Terry the wonderful warm hearted father" and "Garry the hard working dedicated" are singled out for their positive contributions. This perspective suggests a business that, for some, fosters strong relationships and delivers high-quality service with a personal touch. The divergent nature of these reviews indicates that customer experience can vary significantly, which is a critical point for local users to consider.
The "mobile" aspect is a key feature, offering convenience and potentially rapid response for commercial vehicle operators facing roadside emergencies. This service is invaluable for minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with delivery schedules.
For local users, particularly truck and trailer operators in Livonia and surrounding areas, Shanburn and Sons Mobile Truck & Trailer Repair can be contacted via phone at (313) 670-4476 or mobile at +1 313-670-4476. Their physical location at 30934A Industrial Rd, Livonia, MI 48150, USA, provides a central point for shop-based repairs. Promotional information, if they were to actively market themselves, might highlight their mobile service capabilities, emphasizing rapid response times and the convenience of on-site repairs for breakdowns. They might also choose to showcase their family-owned and operated nature, focusing on the personalized and caring service described in positive testimonials. Given the mixed reviews, any promotional efforts would need to address potential concerns about service efficiency, pricing transparency, and customer communication. Discounts for first-time customers or loyalty programs for repeat business could be considered, as could partnerships with local trucking companies or logistics providers.
However, it is imperative for potential customers to weigh the conflicting customer experiences. While some find them to be highly professional, honest, and treating customers like family, others have reported significant issues with pricing, delays, and staff conduct. Truckers and fleet managers should exercise due diligence, potentially seeking quotes in advance, clarifying service timelines, and understanding all charges before authorizing work, especially if introduced through third-party towing services. The significant discrepancy in reviews suggests that direct communication and clear agreements are crucial when engaging with Shanburn and Sons Mobile Truck & Trailer Repair.

One star because there is no 0 stars, these guys are a rip off, they work with Richard’S Heavy Haul tow service, beware. Tow truck driver did not even get a permission to tow the truck anywhere (after clutch malfunction), after asked why is he taking the truck he replied he is taking the truck to very affordable and reliable shop that he knows of, which is these guys Shanburn whatever. Driver had to ride in a towed truck for 7 miles and we got charged $800 for it. Wednesday, they can’t take the truck right away it’ll have to be Thursday, job that needs to be done-clutch replacement. Thursday 5pm received a phone call that they managed to take down the clutch and that they will be putting the new one Friday. Friday afternoon 4-5pm received a phone call they can not finish the job, have to wait till Monday (since they closed on weekends). Here comes Monday-“we are working on it”. Monday late afternoon truck is done, bill $4699.02!!!!!! EXCUSE ME!!!!! Clutch replacement $4699.02, are you out of your mind!???? Not to mention how rude they were, cussing, yelling, throwing bills into my driver’s face like he has to do something with it. So both of these entities work very well just like organized criminal group, robbing people, disrespecting people and above all very slow and bad mechanics, simple job that can be done in 8 hours took them 3 working days. Hope this review helps American truckers out there in need, DO NOT GO TO THESE GUYS!!!!!

These are by far the very best mechanics available in this entire area. We went through 3 other mechanics and Shanburn were the only ones to correctly diagnose AND fix our problem. 3 other places said they couldn't even tow my school bus. After spending nearly a thousand dollars between house calls from lesser mechanic, these guys came to my home diagnosed what was wrong and had it towed to thier shop. They were patient and very understanding with our less than ideal situation. I really wish I would have went to them first. I'll certainly never go anywhere else.

I called and arranged for an oil change for my Class C motorhome. While visiting with the owner, I inquired as to how much my oil change would cost. He told me that he wasn't quite sure because he didn't know how many quarts of oil my RV would need. I assumed it would probably be comparable to other shops around and be no more than $100. When they called for me to pick up my RV, the bill turned out to be $180!! Over $115 of it was for labor....for just an oil change! To top it off, they promised me a new air filter, but all they did was blow it out my old one. Guess how much that cost me? $23 for the 15 minutes of labor....I seriously doubt they spent even half of that time trying to clean my old filter. I voiced my displeasure with them about the price, to which they advised me that all labor was $95/hr. I get it...they are there to make money, however that is the last money they will get from me. A friend of mine recommended them to me, but once I told him of what happened, he stated that he would take his business elsewhere as well. With that being said, the service was good and they were friendly. I was ready to give them my future business, but sadly I won't be doing that, nor recommending them to my other RV friends.

Called these guys at 3am on the side of the road and they not only answered the phone but were super patient with me and took care of me that morning. The gentleman I spoke with was very honest and forthcoming with information on what my options were. I could just tell that they were ACTUALLY looking out for me, and not just for their own pockets. I cant say enough good things about these guys. This is the type of mom and pop shop you can trust, and there arent many left out here. A+
