Sam's Riverside Trucks & Parts Introduce

Sam's Riverside Trucks & Parts, located at 3900 Vandalia Rd, Des Moines, IA 50317, USA, operates as a specialized auto parts store with a significant focus on salvage operations and the sale of used and rebuildable heavy trucks, commercial vans, and automotive parts. While the broader platform category might be "Auto Repair Stations," it's crucial for local users to understand that Sam's Riverside primarily functions as a salvage yard and parts supplier, offering components and full vehicles for sale, rather than performing comprehensive vehicle repairs themselves.

The environment at Sam's Riverside Trucks & Parts is indicative of a large-scale salvage and auto recycling facility. Customers can expect to find a sprawling yard containing a vast inventory of vehicles in various states of repair, from complete rebuildables to those designated for dismantling. The layout is designed to facilitate the processing and cataloging of salvaged vehicles and parts. For those visiting to pick up parts, the process of finding and getting to the location and its docks is described as "easy," suggesting a well-structured system for managing incoming and outgoing inventory. The staff at receiving are noted as being "nice" and efficient in unloading. While the aesthetics may be utilitarian, the emphasis is on the functional efficiency required for a large-scale auto dismantling and parts distribution operation. The environment is geared towards finding and providing specific used components for a diverse range of trucks and other vehicles.

The services and goods offered by Sam's Riverside Trucks & Parts are extensive, catering to a niche market of those seeking parts for heavy-duty vehicles, commercial vans, and even rebuildable cars. Their core offerings include:

  • Used Auto Parts: They maintain a "monstrous inventory" of truck and car parts, including engines, transmissions, heavy truck parts, wheels, replacement glass, and body cuts. This vast selection positions them as a go-to source for used components.
  • Salvage and Rebuildable Vehicles: Sam's Riverside specializes in buying and selling "rebuildable cars, trucks, wrecks or salvage autos and trucks." Their inventory frequently includes a wide variety of makes and models, from passenger cars to heavy-duty commercial vehicles, often available at competitive prices, especially for those willing to undertake repairs.
  • Heavy Duty Parts: Their specialization in trucks and commercial vans means they carry a significant inventory of heavy-duty truck parts, trailer parts, engine parts, and truck accessories.
  • Towing Service: Beyond parts, they also offer towing and recovery services, which aligns with their salvage operations.
  • Selling Your Vehicle: They provide a service for customers to sell their vehicles, which contributes to their inventory of salvage and rebuildable cars and trucks.
  • Expertise in Sourcing: With "hundreds of years in staff expertise," they pride themselves on knowing "what to buy and where" to ensure customers can profit from their purchases, indicating a deep understanding of the salvage and parts market.

Their business model emphasizes volume and variety, aiming to provide a comprehensive selection of parts and vehicles for repair and rebuilding.

Several features distinguish Sam's Riverside Trucks & Parts in the Des Moines area. One key feature is their extensive and diverse inventory, particularly in used parts and rebuildable vehicles. This makes them a valuable resource for individuals and businesses looking for cost-effective alternatives to new parts or for project vehicles. The potential for good deals on vehicles, especially those with manageable damage like hail, is another noted feature. The quality of the parts themselves, as reported by some customers, can be "in great shape." Their long-standing presence in the industry (over 45 years in salvage) suggests significant experience and established processes. They aim to stay on top of new innovations, such as wireless forklifts and barcoded inventory, to improve efficiency. However, it is important to note that customer experiences with service can be inconsistent. While some reviews praise efficiency in unloading and receiving, other feedback indicates issues with "miscommunication," "worst services forever," and a lack of responsiveness, with claims of "shady setup" and unhelpful employees. This variability in customer service is a crucial aspect for potential customers to consider. The emphasis on transparency regarding vehicle defects, for those buying rebuildables, is also mentioned as a feature by some positive reviews, suggesting they will point out known issues.

In terms of promotional information, Sam's Riverside Trucks & Parts primarily relies on its vast inventory and reputation within the salvage and heavy-duty parts market. Their robust online presence, including their own website (samsriverside.com) and listings on platforms like TruckPaper.com and TractorHouse.com, serves as a primary promotional channel, showcasing their extensive inventory of rebuildable vehicles and parts. They also leverage online marketplaces like eBay, where they often receive positive feedback for shipping and item accuracy. The company promotes its experience, stating that it's their "experience that makes the difference," emphasizing their long history and knowledge in the industry. While specific discount programs aren't highlighted in the provided information, the inherent value proposition of a salvage yard is often the cost-effectiveness of used parts and rebuildable vehicles. They also promote services like financing options for vehicle purchases. The direct contact phone number, (800) 383-2163, and mobile number, +1 800-383-2163, serve as central points for customer inquiries, allowing them to inquire about specific parts or vehicles. Despite some negative feedback regarding communication, the volume of inventory and specialized nature of their offerings continue to draw customers from various regions, as evidenced by individuals driving long distances for parts.

I drove 3 hours to pick up a rearend for a Toyota truck. When I got back , I found out that. They gave me the wrong one . I had to drive another 6 hours round trip because they would not ship the right one and pick up the wrong one. Paper work had the right information . parts were in great shape.. Just miscommunication on both sides.

worst services forever......Tried calling, emailing, nothing. The guy I was dealing with, Nick, just vanished after taking the money. Not even a courtesy follow-up. Feels like they’re running a shady setup. If you're thinking about buying from them, be careful. At the very least, respond to people and handle your business right.

Called on a Monday about getting a rear end for an f250. They said they would have it out in a day or two. Called Tuesday to see how far along it was because I live out of state and would need to plan for when to leave. They the said it would be Thursday before it was out. I called Thursday and the ended up hanging up on me. I Called right back and they said it would be Saturday. Called Saturday and asked what was going on and the dude on the phone had an attitude and said I'm surprised we are even here today because of an ice storm and then told me it would be out the next Monday and they would call when it was out. Waited till the next Wednesday to call back and then got put on hold and hung up on again. Edit: nick the sales manager just gave me a call and definitely tried his best to make the situation right and explained the miscommunication on their part which is why I changed this review. I can appreciate taking accountability and trying to make it right. They did have the best price on the axle so ig they are a busy shop. Nick offered a discount on future parts.

Contacted via Facebook messenger about and ad. 4 days later responded with instructions to call. Called next day and was told I would receive an email. Did not receive so I called the following day and had to email them to get a response. Each email took at least a day for a response and some needed another email to them to get a response. Finally agree on a price. Call to arrange purchase (15 days from original contact) and was told vehicle needed to be driven around and they would send more pics via email. Got pics via email and concerns over condition had me sleep on the decision to purchase. Next morning at 7:30am sent email with questions regarding condition and price. 4 hours later receive email saying vehicle was sold. At no point was any “handshake” made so i was never the owner of the vehicle but overall this was a negative experience which lasted for 2 weeks too long.

Called there needing a driveshaft for my truck since mine just fell out of my truck. I explained my predicament to the person on the phone and they told me that it would be 1-2 days to pull one of the 25 listed in Car Part. I then reiterated I was sitting at a gas station and needed it now. He said no guarantees but he'd see what he could do "this late in the day". It was 2:30. A rear driveshaft on this truck is 4 bolts and takes less then 5 minutes to remove. I told him I'd come down and do it myself if it was a staffing issue and he then said well we have a lot of those 2 minutes jobs that add up. I asked if all those people were sitting in a gas station parking lot 100+ miles from home. Well, big surprise he never called me back to inform me one way or another. I ended up patching my destroyed driveshaft back together and limping it home. They also wanted $200 for a driveshaft when every other salvage yard in the state wants less then half that. This isn't the first time I've tried to patronize them only to be left frustrated and pissed off. 0/10 would not recommend. Too expensive and downright useless people to deal with.
