Ryan'sMobileMechanic Introduce
Ryan's Mobile Mechanic, based out of 833 Burden Hill Rd, Sevierville, TN 37862, USA, operates as a unique service within the "Auto Repair Stations" category by bringing the repair shop directly to the customer. This mobile model caters specifically to individuals facing car troubles, particularly those on holiday in the popular tourist areas of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville. The service aims to provide on-the-spot diagnostics and repairs, minimizing the inconvenience of a traditional tow-and-shop repair process. However, it is crucial to present an objective view, as customer experiences with Ryan's Mobile Mechanic appear to be starkly divided, ranging from high praise to severe allegations of scamming.
Unlike a conventional brick-and-mortar Auto Repair Station, Ryan's Mobile Mechanic fundamentally changes the repair environment. The "environment" is wherever the customer's vehicle is located – be it a hotel parking lot, a campsite, or a roadside location in the Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, or Gatlinburg areas. This mobile operating model offers unparalleled convenience, especially for tourists who might be unfamiliar with local repair shops or stranded far from their home mechanics. The service is designed to be highly responsive, as demonstrated by Ryan being contacted on a Saturday afternoon during Christmas week and working late into the night, even "in the rain," to meet a customer's deadline. This on-site approach eliminates the need for towing, arranging alternative transportation, and waiting in a shop, making it an attractive option for urgent repairs. Communication channels are via phone, with numbers (865) 507-7031 and +1 865-507-7031 available for contact.
As a mobile auto repair service, Ryan's Mobile Mechanic focuses on repairs that can be realistically performed outside a full-service garage. Based on customer accounts, the services provided include:
- On-site Vehicle Diagnostics: Ryan reportedly displayed a "logical and analytical approach towards diagnosing the problem," even observing the engine to highlight future maintenance needs. This implies an ability to troubleshoot issues without the need for specialized shop equipment.
- Thermostat & Coolant Replacement: A specific instance mentioned a successful replacement of these components on a Ford Expedition.
- Battery Terminal Replacement: Another specific repair successfully carried out.
- General Automotive Maintenance and Repair: While not exhaustively listed, the nature of a "mobile mechanic" suggests a focus on common issues that can disable a vehicle or impact its drivability, aiming to get the car back on the road. This would likely include basic electrical issues, belt replacements, minor fluid leaks, and other components accessible without a lift.
The ability to perform these repairs at the customer's location is a significant aspect of the service provided by this type of Auto Repair Station.
The features of Ryan's Mobile Mechanic, as reported by customers, present a dual narrative that requires careful consideration.
Positive Features:
- Convenience and Responsiveness: The ability to provide urgent, on-site repairs, even during holidays and late hours, is a major strength.
- Workmanship and Skill: One customer meticulously observed Ryan's work, noting he was "gentle and patient on the tools and the engine, even when dealing with some very unforgiving clamps and bolts," calling it a "skilful demonstration of workmanship."
- Clear Communication: Ryan reportedly "explained the work he would do and the general costs before commencing." This transparency is a key positive.
- Fair Pricing and Payment Flexibility (initially): The price was deemed "fair" and "good value" even after a tip. Critically, Ryan reportedly "did not require payment until the job was complete," allowing the customer to test drive the car and then go to an ATM for cash payment.
Negative Features and Serious Concerns:
- Allegations of Scamming and Disappearance: A highly concerning review explicitly labels Ryan as a "scammer." This customer alleges paying $500, after which Ryan "stopped answering calls and disappeared." This led to the customer needing to tow their car to another shop for repairs.
- Premeditated Deception (Alleged): The defrauded customer believes Ryan is "very skilled at this," suggesting a history of similar actions and a manipulative approach that prevents immediate suspicion.
- Cash-Only Payment, Vulnerability: While the positive review noted the payment flexibility, the negative review's scenario implies a cash-only setup that could be exploited, making it harder to track transactions if issues arise.
This stark contrast in experiences means that while some customers have received excellent, convenient service, others have reportedly faced significant financial loss and left stranded. This is a critical point for any prospective customer to evaluate.
Official promotional information beyond what is gleaned from customer reviews is not available. The primary "promotion" for Ryan's Mobile Mechanic, for those who had positive experiences, is the immense convenience of on-site repair, responsiveness, and clear communication. The suggestion by a satisfied customer to "give Ryan a call and see if he is available to help" if "you run into car problems whilst on holidays" highlights this aspect. The flexibility of cash-only payment after job completion (as reported by one customer) could also be seen as a convenience, as it removes upfront financial risk. However, it is paramount for any potential customer to be aware of the severe and credible allegations of scamming. The warning from the defrauded customer is explicit: "This person is a scammer." The review details a situation where money was taken, and the mechanic disappeared, leaving the vehicle unrepaired. This introduces a significant and undeniable risk factor for anyone considering Ryan's Mobile Mechanic. Potential customers should weigh the convenience and reported positive aspects against the serious accusations of fraud and exercise extreme caution, perhaps opting for upfront payment arrangements or seeking alternative, more established Auto Repair Stations with consistent positive reputations, especially when dealing with higher costs or critical repairs. The conflicting information means that while the service can be highly beneficial when it works, there's a reported potential for severe negative outcomes.

Why I would recommend Ryan’s Mobile Mechanic Ryan did a great job replacing a thermostat & coolant, as well as battery terminals on our Ford Expedition during our holiday in the Pidgin Forge area. He displayed a logical and analytical approach towards diagnosing the problem and was even able to highlight some other maintenance that would be beneficial for us to get done in the future simply by watching the motor run. I watched him perform every turn of the wrench and can confirm Ryan was gentle and patient on the tools and the engine, even when dealing with some very unforgiving clamps and bolts. It was a skilful demonstration of workmanship. Ryan was contacted on a Saturday afternoon during the Christmas week and worked until about 8:30pm that night (in the rain) to get the job done to our deadline. Ryan’s communication was responsive throughout the day and as an Australian 🇦🇺 even I could understood his thick Southern accent well enough 😂 He explained the work he would do and the general costs before commencing. Ryan’s price was fair and even after I gave a tip to appreciate his hard work it was good value. He currently only accepts cash but did not require payment until the job was complete so I was able to test drive my repaired car to an ATM to get money out. If you run into car problems whilst on holidays in the Gatlinburg/Pidgin Forge/Sevierville area I suggest you give Ryan a call and see if he is available to help.

This person is a scammer. After taking $500 from me, he stopped answering calls and disappeared. After waiting for two days with no other option, we had to call a tow truck to take our car to another shop for repairs. When I got home and carefully thought through the whole situation, I realized he was very skilled at this, to the point where I didn’t suspect anything before handing over the money. I believe he has done this many times before. To: Ryan. Hi Ryan, if you happen to see these messages, the following is for you: Maybe this money means a lot to you, and if that’s the case, I hope it has helped you. That day when I saw your home and your living conditions, I genuinely felt sorry for you. You actually have skills, and you don’t need to make a living through scamming people. By doing this, you’re burning your future just for a bit of petty cash. You should know that if you choose to live this way, this is the kind of life you will be stuck with. When you asked us to keep our voices down so we wouldn’t wake your child, I could tell you are a good father and you love your child. But do you really want your child to grow up and live a life like yours?

He's great with Fords and he offered us a intake gasket to replace our old one since it was leaking coolant and he replaced our serpentine belt as well as our tension pulley. I will recommend him to any Ford owner because he gets the job done and his prices aren't that bad.

Got stranded limped my silverado home with a bad water pump. Sent him a video instantly diagnosis. Had the new water pump installed and ready to go. You have to remember a mobile mechanic will cost more than a brick and mortor.

Messaged him about replacing a starter for a 2014 traverse. Ryan was very knowledgeable with what the job entailed. He’s very friendly and was a great help in getting the car running again. Overall a great experience at a reasonable price. I definitely will be using him again in the future. Couldn’t have gotten the job done without him.
