Roadrunner Converter Co | Torque Converters Introduce
Roadrunner Converter Co, located at 4026 E Winslow Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85040, USA, is a specialized establishment within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, focusing almost exclusively on torque converters. This business has been serving the Phoenix area since 1979, with a stated philosophy of "being better" and a commitment to high-quality products. The environment of Roadrunner Converter Co, as a specialized automotive shop, is likely a blend of an office for customer interactions and a dedicated workshop for the intricate work of manufacturing and rebuilding torque converters. Expect a functional layout, with areas for receiving and dispatching converters, and a clean, organized workspace where skilled technicians perform their highly specialized tasks. The overall atmosphere would be geared towards efficiency and precision, given the technical nature of their primary product.
The core service and product offering at Roadrunner Converter Co revolves around torque converters. They specialize in both the sale of new torque converters and the professional rebuilding of existing ones. This is a crucial distinction from a general auto parts store; while some general stores might carry off-the-shelf converters, Roadrunner Converter Co's expertise lies in the nuanced world of these specific transmission components. They offer a comprehensive product line including torque converters for various popular vehicle makes, such as GM (including models like 1500, 2500, Camaro, Corvette, Malibu, Impala), Ford (including F-150, F-250, SVT Lightning, Mustang Cobra), and Dodge (including Ram 1500 & 2500, Viper, Charger, Challenger, and 5.7 HEMI models). Their specialization extends to high-performance and racing torque converters, designed to maximize engine output and provide a competitive edge, as well as diesel performance and towing converters, built for durability and efficient power transfer under heavy loads. This specialized focus means they possess in-depth knowledge and equipment specific to torque converter technology.
A significant feature of Roadrunner Converter Co, and a cornerstone of their service, is the professional rebuilding of torque converters. This process involves taking a used or faulty converter, disassembling it, replacing worn or damaged components with high-quality materials, and then reassembling and balancing it to meet or exceed original specifications. This service can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a brand-new unit, especially for specialized or older vehicles where new parts might be difficult to source. Their website explicitly states that "Every torque converter made at Roadrunner includes the very best materials money can buy," emphasizing their commitment to quality. They also highlight their dedicated staff, boasting "over 130 combined years knowledge & experience" in the field, which speaks to a high level of expertise in this very specific automotive niche. The promise of "quick turnaround if you just drop it off" for rebuilding services, as mentioned by a satisfied customer, indicates an effort to provide efficient service, which is highly valued in the automotive repair sector.
However, it is important to address customer experiences, which, as with many businesses, can be varied. While one customer expressed strong satisfaction with the quick turnaround and professional rebuilding service, another review highlighted significant issues with communication and customer service. The reported difficulties in getting updates on a dropped-off converter, the lack of information taken down during drop-off, and the unhelpful phone interaction with a staff member suggest potential inconsistencies in their customer service protocols. The concern raised by the customer about their converter being "in the wind now" due to poor record-keeping is a serious issue that indicates a need for improved internal communication and customer information management. This feedback underscores the importance of clear processes for tracking customer property and providing consistent, professional communication, especially when customers are entrusting valuable vehicle components for specialized service.
For local users considering Roadrunner Converter Co, it's beneficial to understand their specialization. They are not a general auto repair shop, but rather a dedicated facility for torque converters. This specialization means they are likely to have a deeper understanding and better equipment for this specific component than a broader repair shop. While their products are primarily available for purchase directly at their Phoenix location, their website also indicates "discount shipping on all store items," suggesting they serve a wider clientele beyond local pick-up. To reach them for inquiries, customers can call (602) 437-2301 or +1 602-437-2301. It is always advisable to clearly communicate your needs and confirm any procedures, especially concerning drop-offs and timelines, to ensure a smooth transaction. While specific promotional information isn't readily available, businesses like Roadrunner Converter Co often offer competitive pricing for their specialized services and high-quality rebuilt products, relying on their expertise and reputation to attract and retain customers in the niche market of torque converters. Their long history in the business further suggests a sustained commitment to their craft and customer base.

Is there another number to get ahold of these guys?dropped off a converter and been calling all day for an update never gave me a time frame or took down any of my info even after I gave it to them so not sure how they plan to contact me when ready. A day before when I called to set up the drop off i got a typical gen z type who just mumbled into the phone not knowing what was even going on but was able to make out the word "bro" But no answer since. In any case I'm sure the converter I dropped off is probably in the wind now and will have to purchase another.

I have purchased a few converters already. Mostly for sand drag customers and they are flawless. Perfect stall rating and no having to send in for a restall. I will continue to purchase more when my customers demand higher than stock converters that work as designed.

Buyer beware! Absolutely watch your back with Ronnie! I was given a very detailed price quote via phone (different person, not Ronnie) for a rebuild on my 8L90 TC, w/added steel plate at $460 out the door. Ronnie claimed that price to me was $1,350 firm. When he saw I was going to say no to $1,350, he then offered a basic rebuild for $250. When asked about the price disparity, Ronnie claimed my TC is a "totally different beast,' with no other reasons or details, and did not offer something in-between. Also, the person whom I initially spoke with via phone, instructed me to submit my rebuild at 6am for same day rebild service. I arrived at 6am. Ronnie claimed the best case scenario for my rebuild would be next day afternoon, not same day... after being told a 6am submittal would be same day service. By this point, I am neck deep into my repair project and cannot scrap my plans for some shady viper who wants to make extra money off of a walk-in customer. I selected the $250 basic. Then, at pick-up, with Ronnie gone for the day, no one on duty new the status of the TC, or what was done to it... Apparently, only Ronnie knows the status. There are no notes, or a pass-down sheet... nothing. One guy claimed he would have to cut it open for me to see what was done. What a ridiculous thing to tell a customer! I raised the question of the price quote disparity. However, no one else in this shop would give me a straight answer to the question of the disparity in price quotes. Nor give an answer to the in-between offers question. I asked three people, while waiting for my pick-up and they each claimed I should ask someone else, or ask Ronnie when he is back the next day. What a joke... except the joke is on me!
