Princeton cycles llc Introduce
For motorcycle enthusiasts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding areas, Princeton Cycles LLC, located at 4943 Princeton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19135, USA, operates as a motorcycle repair shop within the broader category of Auto Repair Stations. It is important to note that the provided customer reviews paint a mixed picture of the services and overall experience at Princeton Cycles LLC, primarily focusing on the individual named Dave who appears to be the key person of contact and mechanic.
One customer recounts two separate positive experiences with Dave. In the first instance, Dave provided timely help during a need. The second experience involved a more significant repair after a motorcycle accident. According to this review, Dave undertook a complete makeover of the motorcycle, rebuilding it with new parts within an impressive timeframe of eight days, despite an initial request of ten days. The customer expressed great satisfaction with the work, including the installation of new components and even the addition of extra parts seemingly out of goodwill. This positive anecdote suggests that Dave is capable of producing high-quality work and can be generous with his customers under certain circumstances.
However, the other customer review presents a starkly contrasting experience, raising significant concerns about the service provided by Princeton Cycles LLC. This review details a prolonged service period of 15 weeks for the installation of ape hanger handlebars and a used exhaust system. The customer explicitly mentions that this timeframe far exceeded the initial estimate of two weeks. Attempts to get updates were met with inconsistent information, including a claim of Dave having hurt his back from a 14-year-old assistant.
Furthermore, this customer reports damage to the heat shield of the exhaust system during installation, a part that Dave had previously cautioned about handling carefully. The review also states that agreed-upon services, such as the installation of mirrors and pegs, were not completed, with Dave claiming he couldn't find the parts, which the customer later located easily. While the handlebars and cables were acknowledged as being done well, the customer expressed dissatisfaction with the homemade bracket for the exhaust pipes, although this was deemed acceptable as a fabrication.
The primary grievances in this negative review revolve around the excessive time the motorcycle was kept at the shop, the damage incurred during the service, and the lack of communication and follow-through on the agreed-upon work. The customer also mentions paying $6000 (an updated figure from an initially stated $3800) without receiving a receipt, which raises further concerns about the business practices. The reviewer recounts Dave's tendency to tell lengthy and seemingly unreliable stories, which eroded trust over time, despite an initial positive impression. The disrespectful nature of Dave's communication when the customer inquired about the delay is also highlighted.
The eventual non-starting of the motorcycle due to a stuck needle and seat in the carburetor shortly after being picked up adds another layer of dissatisfaction. The customer's suggested simple fix was allegedly dismissed by Dave. The reviewer concludes that while Dave may be capable of good work, his communication, time management, and overall professionalism are significant areas of concern, advising potential customers to proceed with caution.
Based on these two contrasting accounts, it is challenging to provide a definitive picture of the environment and typical service experience at Princeton Cycles LLC. The positive review suggests a shop where personalized and high-quality work can be achieved, potentially with a friendly and generous mechanic. However, the negative review paints a picture of disorganization, poor communication, extended delays, and potential damage to the vehicle. The lack of a receipt for a substantial payment also indicates a potentially informal or unprofessional business practice.
Information regarding specific services offered by Princeton Cycles LLC is somewhat gleaned from the reviews. They include motorcycle repair, customization (such as handlebar and exhaust system installation), and potentially more extensive rebuilds. The shop appears to cater to specific customization requests, indicating a willingness to undertake non-standard work. However, the varying experiences suggest inconsistency in the quality and timeliness of these services.
Features of Princeton Cycles LLC, as perceived through the customer reviews, are centered around the individual of Dave. He is portrayed as someone capable of excellent work and even generosity at times, but also as someone prone to lengthy, possibly unreliable storytelling, poor communication, and significant delays. The absence of structured business practices like providing receipts is also a notable characteristic based on the negative review.
Currently, there is no promotional information available for Princeton Cycles LLC in the provided data. Local users considering this shop for motorcycle repairs should weigh the positive account of a comprehensive and timely rebuild against the serious concerns raised about extended delays, damage to the vehicle, poor communication, and unprofessional business conduct. It would be prudent for potential customers to seek further references, inquire about service timelines and costs in detail, and potentially request written estimates and receipts for any work undertaken. Given the conflicting feedback, proceeding with caution and thorough due diligence is advisable for local motorcycle owners considering Princeton Cycles LLC for their repair needs.

Dave has more stories than mother goose He told me three different stories of how he sold this one Corvette and each story has a different ending That's just for that one thing. I thought Dave was a trustworthy person people have warned me though He had my bike for 15 weeks To install a set of meat hook ape hanger handlebars And installed a used exhaust system And he actually damaged the heat shield on the front pipe, where he made a point on showing me that you had to be careful while putting the nut on the exhaust stud so that you did not scrape or dent the heat shield, well he ended up denting and scratching the heat shield on the front pipe And per our agreement, mirrors were to be installed pegs were to be installed he did none of that, said he could not find them, I found the ones that I picked out the day I paid him within one day of getting my bike back home The handlebars and the cables to go with them and the grips they were all done very good The exhaust system it is a nice exhaust system it does have a homemade bracket for the back of the pipes which that I really don't care that's a fabrication that's okay I am upset with the amount of time that he kept my bike and the fact that he damaged the heat shield on the second hand exhaust system that he put on my motorcycle I paid him $3,800 He told me it would take 2 weeks So on week three I texted him to find out how it was going Because at the end of week 2 I called and Carly is 14-year-old assistant told me that he hurt his back. So when I texted him at the end of week number three, he replied if I'm not moving fast enough come get your bike and take it. I had already paid him $3,800 My mistake was paying him up front. Other people said my mistake was going to him in the first place. It's a shame I did like Dave. But as far as respect goes. By saying to me after 3 weeks, and this was now total of 6 weeks the bike was in his shop because we are waiting for the insurance to pay. After 3 weeks the insurance did pay They sent the check to me. I think he didn't like that part What was very disrespectful Was for him to tell me if I'm not moving fast enough come take your bike, I'm not going to hurt myself for anybody I told him look I don't want to hurt yourself take your time but just keep me in the loop. He never did Well several calls and several trips down to his garage, my bike sat for 15 weeks so when I finally did pick the motorcycle up I brought it home put it in the garage two days later went back out to start the bike it didn't start it fouled out and gas came pouring out of the float bowl What's that means the needle and seat was stuck open it got some dirt in it. So the standard thing to do with that is drop the float bowl clean it out with some carburetor cleaner and compressed air gently. Not according to Dave he said just start it back up. Well it would not start back up you open the petcock and fuel comes out the bottom of the carburetor. And the plugs were fouled Moral of the story is Dave is capable of doing good work But Dave does like to talk he likes to hear himself talk and a lot of it is mother goose stories, he should start out his stories with once upon a Time Besides that he disrespected me in the manner of the amount of time he kept my bike, and the price I'm not worried about the price I paid him $3,800 that's a little high for what was done I'm okay with that. But it should have been flawless at that price and that amount of time. Sorry the amount of $3800 is incorrect the amount was $6000.00 don't remember the exact amount because he never gave me a receipt. So use Steve Ellis / Princeton cycle at your own risk. Sorry things turned out this way Dave. But you're the one that made things happen like this. Had respect for you but I don't anymore

Today I caught a flat on my way to work at 3:00 am, first time calling Princeton Cycles because the towing would of cost me $475 Dave came to the rescue he plugged it but we realized that the tire was done he went out of his way and got me a replacement, he’s definitely a caring guy, he didn’t want me to be stranded on the road , we had good conversations .and what he charge me was practically free , I definitely recommend this place and I will definitely will go to his shop for any issues on my bike. Thank you Dave Tony

Dave is an awesome mechanic at a fair price. After my first mechanic replaced my carburetor, but bike still wasn’t running right, I brought it to Dave and he fixed it in hours. He also was flexible in letting me pick it up after hours. Great job! Highly recommend. It’s hard to find mechanics to work on older bikes (2006 Honda Shadow), but Dave has the talent & experience. Thanks Dave!

The owner is awesome he really knows what he's talking about and his prices and service is much better than a typical dealership. Service is very fast and always delivers quality workmanship. Me and few friends have dealt with him a bunch of times and he always does right by us
