Perry Auto – Elkhart

Dropped off my car Tuesday and was called and told that the parts would be in on Thursday and car would be done by Thursday night/Friday. Called Friday afternoon and asked when the car would be done and was told by the end of the day. Went in to pay so that I could pick it up when it was done (after the shop was closed due to plans I had) and was told that it would be done by 5pm and it would be left in the parking lot. Went to pick up the car at 7pm and it’s still in the shop. No phone call…nothing to let me know it wasn’t done. I have a graduation on Saturday morning, an hour and a half away, to drive to and they are now closed for the weekend. I won’t be returning. Very disappointed in the service here. Update: luckily family pulled through and came and got me for the graduation. Finally got my car on Monday morning after calling and asking when it would be ready. Was offered a free oil change. The next day driving home from work the same warning notifications that I had originally taken it in for came up across the dash. So the problem was never fixed. It's now a month later and I took it into the dealership due to the problems persisting with new issues coming up across the dash. They told me it was the fuel injectors and not the emission system. I will not be returning to this place. My bill at the dealership was $1000 less than the bill that Perry gave me.

Daughter's alternator took a shit and I had no desire to replace it in 20 degree weather and no garage. I called and they were able to squeeze it in between existing clients. I really appreciated their time and efforts. Now her blend door actuator just followed the alternator's example and I have minimal desire to replace it in this weather! Looks like the Ole Explorer may be visiting Perry Auto again 😁

Mr. Miller was very sweet and his mechanic was very informative about what occurred to my vehicle. He maintained communication with me regarding my parts and the price was AFFORDABLE!! It’s so hard to find shops that has your best interest at heart, that are professional/thorough with integrity, and don’t look to beat the consumer down to nothing. I will continue to give Perry Automotive my business 😊

Joshua was more then I could ask for in a technician! He went above and beyond to make sure I understood and was being charged the fairest price possible. Highly recommend. I will definitely be a loyal customer 😊

I was visiting Indiana when I had some car troubles and I needed immediate assistance. It was Saturday so most body shops were closed or too busy for a walk-in from NYC. I stumbled upon Perry's Automotive as I drove somewhat aimlessly looking for a mechanic. When I walked in to Perry's to ask for help, Josh & Evelyn were eating their lunch. They listened intently as I explained that I was from out of town and how disoriented I was. Their gracious attitude made me comfortable enough to ask them for a favor as they ate. Josh offered to do the job vs loaning me the tool after he finished his lunch. He had the best attitude about it and he got on the job in no time (and didn't have to...). He and Evelyn even welcomed me to grab some complimentary snacks while I waited. I was rather hungry at that point after missing breakfast earlier that morning. So those tasty snacks hit the spot as I munched on one after the other...lol When he was done, Josh refused to charge me for the job and he wouldn't accept a tip. The job and the tip was at least $50-$60 but they said that they had had a good week. They wished me luck and safe travels and sent me home feeling very blessed that day. I hope and wish them the best in their business and in their personal lives. They are kind people and treated me with great consideration and generosity. All the best to this team of employees who have likely served others the same way... Perry's Automotive is lucky to have people like Josh and Evelyn on their staff.

I have taken my suburban in to do the Valvoline VSP service from the time I have owned it and have been very good at getting it in on the regular mileage intervals for service. One of the services in that program is changing the transmission fluid. Well my transmission failed and part of the VSP service is a warranty that protects against breakdown. All this happened in January of this year. Well I was denied the warranty at first due to Perry Automotive doing the last transmission service incorrectly. So Valvoline denied the initial claim. After appealing I was awarded $2000.00 to help cover a complete rebuild of my transmission. By the way it was over $4500.00. So Valvoline said they paid Perry Automotive to reimburse me $2,000.00. I have been waiting months for that money and at this point I’m not sure I will ever see that money. They are slow walking paying what is rightfully owed to me! Tired of waiting!

I honestly wish I had a good experience here. JR was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to explaining what was wrong with my car. I took my 2017 ford escape in for a cooling system fault. At first they reset the fault, topped off my coolant, and sent it home with me. When my girlfriend came to pick up the car, they almost gave it back without the belly pan. She had to wait for them to put it back on. After a week or two of driving it the cooling fault came back. I opened the hood and saw they left off the cap for the coolant (a pressurized system that needs the cap to work properly). Ok, people make mistakes. I took it back to them, and they topped me off, made sure there was no damage and sent it home with me. A few days later, my belly pan fell off. I scrambled, as I needed to drive the car right then and there. I didn’t have any zip ties or anything so I had to find a ride to work that day. That was the last straw for me. Yes, people make mistakes, but after reading some of the other reviews it seems like Perry Auto is careless and extremely forgetful about the details. I saw another review where they didn’t even tighten all the lug nuts down. 1/5 and that’s just because of JR. They have careless technicians.

I was very impressed by Perry Auto. I have used them for the last six or seven years on our automotive needs. They have been great. This time I found them to be right on target with the problems and were able to fix within a reasonable time and accurately.

Very nice people & very helpful. They got me in & out pretty quick. I had to replace my windshield wiper motor & they gave me options on what I could do to fix it. They also brought me out to my car to see where it was broken & told me exactly what they were going to do. Overall they did a great job & they were very nice !
