Oilology Introduce

Located at 1655 PA-228, Cranberry Twp, PA 16066, USA, Oilology operates within the Auto Repair Stations category, aiming to provide various automotive services to local users. While the name "Oilology" suggests a primary focus on oil changes, businesses in this category often encompass a broader range of maintenance and repair services. Customers can contact Oilology at (724) 622-0029 or via mobile at +1 724-622-0029 for their automotive needs.

Environment and Service Delivery

The physical environment of Oilology, as with many auto repair stations, would typically include a garage area with bays for vehicle service and a customer waiting area. However, the provided customer reviews offer sharply contrasting views on the operational environment and service delivery. One review describes a quick and efficient oil change for an F350, suggesting a capable team and a streamlined process for routine services. This implies a functional workshop environment that can handle basic maintenance tasks swiftly. Conversely, another review paints a picture of significant disarray and alleged misconduct, with a car held for two months, incurring toll fees, and returned unfixed with damage. This suggests that the internal operations and quality control might be inconsistent, potentially leading to a highly varied customer experience. The facility on a state route implies easy accessibility for motorists in Cranberry Township and surrounding areas.

Services Offered and Areas of Expertise

Based on the provided information and the name "Oilology" within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, the services offered would typically include:

  • Oil Changes: This is clearly implied by the business name and supported by a positive customer review for a quick oil change. This would encompass various types of oil changes (conventional, synthetic blend, full synthetic) suitable for different vehicle types.
  • Vehicle Inspection: One customer mentioned bringing their car in to be "fixed and inspected," indicating that Oilology performs vehicle inspections, which in Pennsylvania would include state safety and emissions inspections. This is a crucial service for vehicle owners to ensure compliance and roadworthiness.
  • General Automotive Repair: The customer who brought their car in to be "fixed" due to "codes" suggests that Oilology also attempts more complex diagnostic and repair work beyond simple oil changes. This could include troubleshooting engine lights, addressing performance issues, and general mechanical repairs.
  • Tire Services: The negative review specifically mentions "brand new rims scratched because they can’t change tires with out damaging rims." This implies that tire changing services are offered, which typically include mounting, balancing, and potentially tire sales. However, the review raises significant concerns about the quality of this specific service.
Features and Customer Experiences (A Dual Perspective)

The customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences, making it essential to describe the features of Oilology from both perspectives:

Positive Features (Based on one customer review):
  • Efficiency for Routine Services: The ability to perform an oil change on an F350 "within minutes" highlights a potential strength in quick, routine maintenance. This is a valuable feature for customers seeking fast turnaround times for basic services.
  • Friendly Service (for some): The phrase "Awesome, guys" suggests that at least one customer found the staff to be pleasant and efficient during their visit for an oil change.
Negative Features and Concerns (Based on another customer review, corroborated by news reports):
  • Alleged Delays and Lack of Resolution: A significant concern raised is a car being held for two months without being fixed or inspected. This suggests severe issues with efficiency, communication, and ultimately, service delivery for more complex repairs.
  • Accusations of Misuse of Vehicles: The claim of the car being "drove it all over town, running up toll-fees in the middle of the night, supposedly clearing out codes" is a grave accusation of vehicle misuse and potentially unauthorized driving, which is a serious breach of trust. Public news reports have also surfaced regarding allegations of the owner, Keith Smith, driving and renting out customer vehicles and taking money for uncompleted repairs, further substantiating these concerns.
  • Property Damage: The complaint about "brand new rims scratched because they can’t change tires with out damaging rims" indicates a lack of care or proper equipment/technique during service, leading to damage to customer property.
  • Alleged Theft/Non-Return of Property: The accusation of stealing a "code reader" and not returning "registration/insurance card" points to extremely serious professional misconduct and potential criminal activity.
  • Poor Communication and Deceptive Practices: The general sentiment of being "taken advantage of" and attempts to "hide the errors" (if implied by the "clearing out codes" narrative without actual fix) reflects a problematic communication and potentially deceptive approach to repair work.
Promotional Information and Local Reputation

The public perception and promotional aspect of Oilology are significantly impacted by these conflicting reviews. While a positive review highlights quick oil changes and good service ("Will go back for services"), the highly detailed and severe negative review, coupled with reports of legal issues involving the owner, presents a challenging public image. The negative review's strong cautionary tone, "Beware! Be aware!", acts as a powerful deterrent. For local users in Cranberry Twp, PA, and surrounding areas, the information available online about Oilology is highly polarized. Potential customers would need to weigh the convenience and speed experienced by some against the very serious allegations of misconduct and poor service experienced by others. Any form of self-promotion by Oilology would be heavily scrutinized against these public accounts. The phone numbers (724) 622-0029 and +1 724-622-0029 remain the primary means of contact, but the decision to use their services would likely depend heavily on a potential customer's tolerance for risk and their willingness to overlook serious public allegations in favor of potentially quick basic services.

Oilology Customer Reviews

Brought my car to have it fixed and inspected. They held my car for 2 months, while they drove it all over town, running up toll-fees in the middle of the night, supposedly clearing out codes. I finally cut my losses, paid $400 to get my car back not fixed, not inspected, and my brand new rims scratched because they can’t change tires with out damaging rims. Both rims! Apparently they’re “too busy” to do good work. I trusted them and they took advantage. Oh and they stole my code reader and didn’t return my registration/insurance card. Beware! Be aware!

Called a friend, and he recommended this location. We arrived, and within minutes, they changed the oil to our f350. Awesome, guys. Will go back for services.

Fast and very friendly service. Honestly! I called ahead and they had my truck up in the rack within 30mins.

This place is horrible, do not take your car there. As you drive up to the place you can just tell this place is a dump. I worked for this guy along time ago. He uses customers cars to let his employees drive them around for personal use, and to lend out while others cars are getting fixed. His prices are through the roof. I never talk bad about a place I always try to find the good in everything. But I do not recommend this guy or Keith's towing on the other side of cranberry. Best place to take your car is Firestone by the dairy queen on 19 by the fun for all!

110% would totally recommend! Smitty was so incredibly helpful when Budget failed to have my reservation! I needed a 16 ft truck and a car tow. He and his wife busted their tooshies and were able to hook me up at a great price. Amazing people. Thank you!!
