Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc. Introduce

Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc., located at 154 W Camden Ave, Moorestown, NJ 08057, USA, operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" platform category, though its specialized focus sets it apart from traditional mechanical repair shops. Environment and Specialized Craftsmanship

The environment at Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc. would be typical of a specialized workshop focused on detailed textile and leather work. This would involve a clean, organized space equipped with industrial sewing machines, cutting tables, various types of fabrics, leathers, vinyls, foams, and upholstery tools. The focus is on meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, as upholstery work requires precision to achieve a seamless and durable finish. Unlike a general auto repair shop, the air would likely be free of grease and oil, instead smelling of new materials and adhesives. The atmosphere is centered on transforming and restoring vehicle and boat interiors, creating custom looks, or repairing worn and damaged seating. The technicians here are skilled artisans in their field, specializing in fabric and material manipulation to achieve desired aesthetic and functional outcomes.

Services Offered: Tailored Upholstery Solutions

Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc. offers a range of highly specialized services, catering to the aesthetic and comfort needs of vehicle and boat owners. Their primary services include:

  • Automotive Upholstery Repair and Restoration: This covers a wide array of services for car interiors. As evidenced by a customer review, they specialize in leather seat repair, specifically addressing tears and rips on seams. They can replace specific damaged areas, rather than requiring an entire seat replacement, which offers a cost-effective solution. This service likely extends to other interior components like door panels, headliners, dashboards, and carpeting. They work with various materials, including leather, vinyl, and cloth, to match or upgrade existing interiors.

  • Boat Upholstery Repair and Re-upholstery: As their name clearly states, marine upholstery is a significant part of their business. They undertake projects like re-upholstering cushions for boats, such as Bayliner cushions. This involves removing old fabric, repairing foam if necessary, and applying new marine-grade vinyl or fabric designed to withstand harsh marine environments (e.g., UV exposure, moisture). They aim to restore or enhance the comfort and appearance of boat seating and interior components.

  • Custom Upholstery Work: Beyond repairs, they likely offer custom upholstery services for those looking to personalize their vehicle or boat interiors. This could involve complete interior redesigns, custom stitching, or unique material combinations to achieve a bespoke look.

The core value proposition of these services lies in restoring the comfort, aesthetics, and value of automotive and marine assets without the high cost of full component replacement.

Features and Customer Experiences: A Mixed Perspective

The customer reviews provide insight into the features of Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc., presenting both strengths and areas of concern:

  • Professionalism and Quality of Repair (Positive): One customer highly praises the professionalism and the "flawless" repair of an 8-inch rip on a driver's leather seat seam. The ability to replace only the damaged area rather than the entire seat is a notable feature, indicating skilled and precise repair techniques that save customers money. This suggests high quality in their repair execution for certain tasks.

  • Reasonable Pricing (Positive): The same customer noted that their service was "reasonably priced," indicating that for certain repairs, the cost provides good value.

  • Material Longevity and Mold Issues (Negative): A significant concern highlighted by another customer pertains to the longevity and material quality of boat upholstery. A Bayliner cushion re-upholstered for $450 started showing "mold" within two years and became "very bad" by year four. This customer claims the company stated "vinyl companies no longer make good vinyl," but contrasted this with another cushion re-upholstered by a different company that showed no mold after a year. This suggests potential issues with either the specific vinyl material used, the preparation of the cushion, or the installation process, leading to premature mold growth that severely impacts the durability and appearance of the re-upholstered item. This is a critical feature for marine applications where mold resistance is paramount.

  • Customer Dissatisfaction and Lack of Resolution (Negative): The negative review also implies a lack of satisfactory resolution for the mold issue, leading to significant disappointment and a decision not to use their services again for future needs. This points to potential challenges in their post-service support or warranty adherence regarding material performance in challenging environments.

These contrasting experiences suggest that while the company excels in specific repair tasks (like leather seat tears), there might be inconsistencies in material selection or long-term durability for certain applications, particularly in marine environments. This is a crucial point for potential customers, especially those with boat upholstery needs, to consider.

Promotional Information

Explicit promotional offers are not detailed in the provided reviews. However, businesses like Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc. typically promote themselves through:

  • Showcasing Before-and-After Work: Visual demonstrations of their successful repairs and custom projects are highly effective in this industry. They would likely have a portfolio or gallery of their work to attract clients.

  • Word-of-Mouth Referrals: Positive experiences, like the flawless leather repair, generate strong word-of-mouth recommendations, which are invaluable for specialized services.

  • Competitive Pricing: As mentioned by a satisfied customer, "reasonably priced" services are a key draw, appealing to those seeking quality work without excessive cost.

  • Specialization: Emphasizing their dual expertise in "Auto & Boat Upholstery" allows them to target two distinct, yet often overlapping, client bases. This specialization itself is a promotional feature, signaling expertise in these areas.

  • Addressing Specific Pain Points: Highlighting their ability to repair specific damage (like rips on seams) rather than requiring full replacement appeals to customers looking for targeted, cost-effective solutions.

Given the mixed reviews, potential customers, especially those with boat upholstery projects, are encouraged to inquire specifically about the types of materials used, their mold-resistant properties, and any warranties provided on materials and labor to ensure their expectations align with the long-term performance of the upholstery. It would be prudent to discuss potential environmental factors and material suitability thoroughly before committing to a project. For automotive leather repairs, their expertise seems to be highly regarded.

Moorestown Auto & Boat Upholstery Inc. Customer Reviews

I had a cushion on my Bayliner re-upholstered for $450. By year 2 it started getting mold, its now year 4 and mold is very bad. So bad that the original 1999 upholstery looks better. I can't afford getting cushions redone if within a short period they get moldy. I stopped in and was told that vinyl companies no longer make good vinyl. However I had another cushion on my boat re-upholstered a year earlier and no mold. Attached pictures showing the mold and the other pictures showing no mold when when I used different company. You can see in bottom picture I need another seat re-upholstered but will not be taking it to this place.

I recently had my drivers leather seat repaired. It had about an 8” rip on the seam closest to the door. They replaced that area not the whole seat and it looks flawless. They are very professional and resemblely priced, would definitely recommend!
