Moores Auto Trim Introduce

Located at 103 U.S. Hwy 70 SW in Hildebran, NC, Moores Auto Trim operates within the specialized niche of "Auto Repair Stations" that focuses on interior automotive services. Unlike general mechanical repair shops, Moores Auto Trim appears to concentrate on aspects related to vehicle upholstery, convertible tops, and other interior and exterior trim components. This specialization caters to a specific segment of vehicle owners who require restoration, repair, or customization of their car's aesthetics and comfort. Their location on a major highway, U.S. Hwy 70 SW, enhances accessibility for customers in Hildebran and the surrounding areas.

For direct inquiries or to discuss specific trim or upholstery needs, Moores Auto Trim can be reached by phone at (828) 328-1496 or via mobile at +1 828-328-1496. These contact methods facilitate communication for scheduling consultations or services.

Environment and Facilities

As an "Auto Repair Station" specializing in auto trim, the environment at Moores Auto Trim would primarily consist of a workshop designed for intricate upholstery and fabrication work. This would typically include dedicated areas for cutting fabrics, stitching, and installing various trim components. Given the nature of convertible top replacement, the facility would need ample space to house vehicles undergoing this sensitive procedure, ensuring a controlled environment for the precise fitment of new materials. While specific details about the waiting area or customer amenities are not provided, the operational focus would be on a clean and organized workspace conducive to detailed craftsmanship. The location on a U.S. Highway suggests a storefront that is visible and accessible, potentially with a small parking area for customer vehicles.

Services Offered

Moores Auto Trim specializes in automotive upholstery and trim services. A prominent service highlighted by customer feedback is convertible top replacement. This involves the intricate process of removing an old, damaged convertible top and installing a new one, which requires specialized knowledge of vehicle frameworks, tensioning systems, and sealing. The complexity of this service, as described by a customer, suggests it is a core offering and requires a particular skill set.

Beyond convertible tops, the "Auto Trim" designation typically encompasses a range of other services related to vehicle interiors and exteriors. These may include:

  • Seat upholstery repair or replacement: Addressing tears, wear, or complete redesigns of car seats.
  • Headliner repair or replacement: Fixing sagging or damaged interior roof linings.
  • Carpet replacement: Installing new flooring in vehicles.
  • Door panel re-upholstery: Restoring or customizing the fabric or material on interior door panels.
  • Custom interior work: Offering personalized designs or material upgrades for vehicle interiors.
  • Minor exterior trim repair: Potentially addressing issues with exterior moldings, badges, or other non-mechanical trim elements.

While not explicitly stated, their specialization implies a focus on these aesthetic and comfort-related aspects of vehicle maintenance, catering to both everyday vehicles and potentially classic or specialty cars that require careful restoration.

Key Features and Customer Experience

The customer experiences with Moores Auto Trim present a mixed picture, highlighting both positive and challenging aspects of their service. One positive feature noted is the honesty and helpfulness of the staff. A reviewer praised "the guy in charge" for being "very helpful in explaining things" and for being honest about jobs they could not perform, even providing a website for alternative assistance. This indicates a commitment to transparency and customer guidance, even if it means referring business elsewhere, which is a commendable trait in customer service.

However, another review details a highly negative experience regarding a convertible top replacement. This account points to several problematic features:

  • Pricing inconsistencies: The initial quote changed from $1100 to $1200, which can be a point of frustration for customers expecting a fixed price.
  • Quality control issues: The new top was installed with two small holes, which the business attempted to glue shut. This raises concerns about the quality of the product or the installation process.
  • Unsatisfactory repairs: Despite the attempt to fix the holes with glue, the customer found the repair visually noticeable and functionally prone to failure ("stretched the repaired hole apart almost to the tearing point" after the first opening). This suggests a repair that did not meet reasonable quality expectations.
  • Poor conflict resolution and customer interaction: The interaction described involves agitation from the service provider, an unwillingness to acknowledge customer dissatisfaction, and a sudden price increase to retrieve the vehicle after a dispute. The phrase "made it plain that I was not welcome back" indicates a breakdown in customer relations.

This stark contrast in reviews suggests that while the business may possess a foundational honesty in some interactions and specialize in a unique service, there can be significant inconsistencies in job execution and customer dispute resolution. The individual named Scott is explicitly mentioned in the negative review, indicating that staff interaction heavily influences customer satisfaction.

Promotional Information and Reputation

In terms of promotional information, Moores Auto Trim benefits from its specialization. For individuals in Hildebran and surrounding areas needing specific auto upholstery or convertible top services, a dedicated shop like Moores Auto Trim would be a primary search result. The positive review, emphasizing honesty and helpfulness, serves as organic promotion, building a reputation for integrity where the business clearly communicates its capabilities.

However, the detailed negative review significantly impacts the overall promotional message. Such an account, particularly one that involves a legal dispute, can deter potential customers. While the business doesn't explicitly advertise, its reputation is built on these contrasting customer experiences. Potential clients researching Moores Auto Trim will likely weigh both the positive aspects of honesty and the negative aspects of perceived poor quality and aggressive conflict resolution. The ultimate decision for a customer will depend on their specific need for specialized trim work and their tolerance for potential risks highlighted by the negative feedback.

Moores Auto Trim Customer Reviews

Scott contracted with me to replaced a convertible top on a 2005 Ford Mustang. He first priced the top at 1100 then changed to 1200 because he said it was a hard top to replace, he then went into detail about how hard it was to replace compared to other cars. I left the car with him to be repaired then he called me and said I needed to come over to his place he had a problem. When I arrived the new top had two small holes in it and he went into great detail about he didn't know what had happened or what caused it he just proceeded to tell me everything wrong with the car. He showed me that nothing was touching the top and just continued with he didn't know how it happened. He then glued the holes shut and began to brag about how nice it looked he did have the holes closed but anyone with decent sight could see them! He asked me what I thought and I told him most anyone would see them which agitated him! He agreed that he would settle for six hundred dollars and made it plain that I was not welcome back but before I could write the check he snatched up the keys and said I had to pay eight hundred to get the car back! I paid and left with the car, the first time I opened the top it stretched the repaired hole apart almost to the tearing point it want take but a couple more times opening the top before the holes open up completely! So I'm out eight hundred dollars and I still need a top! I don't recommend Moore's Trim Shop! I am considering my legal options at this point!
