Modern Muscle Customer Reviews

Car was there for almost a full year despite 3+ month appointment in advance. Brought it to MM to fabricate charge pipes, turbo oil plumbing, first-start, tune, alignment and several odds/ends that I couldn’t get done by the agreed drop off date. Charge pipes, skid plate and oil pan/turbo plumbing look great. Alignment was fair; no printout despite asking. Fuel injector harness, side of motor where MM removed the valve cover, came loose within a few miles of driving causing check engine light..no big deal, let MM know. Then, ~30mi later, backfiring under boost (emailed owner for guidance, no initial response). After research, signs pointing to spark blow out, emailed MM again about gap he they replied simply suggesting .030. No change though, still backfiring. Ended up needing 2 step coolder plugs w tighter .020 gap. Thought they had checked the plugs when they had to replace a plug wire. Then, oil found in radiator (fresh motor, flushed/clean radiator). Took three flushes to get the oil out. I don’t want to speculate, but, I will say the front cover was leaking after startup, they fixed it, but didn’t charge me for any antifreeze. Other BS: Loose battery in tray (they didn’t use provided hold down), no overflow hose (sprayed antifreeze on my new painted engine), unprotected needlessly drilled holes, loose fuel pressure regulator held by self tapping screws (safety concerns), mis-wired gauges, broken dash pad clips(removed for gauge wiring). My final straw before expressing all my thoughts, concerns, remedy with MM privately is the unmetered vacuum leak that I told MM about at least twice; (Background - I left the vacuum port behind the manifold open in case they wanted to use it for vacuum or signal.) This was a big motor safety concern for me. Freshly built, resleeved for boost LS3. I emailed both owners with the above concerns along with my recommended remedy ~12% of the total cost returned. Was told 1) I had 30 days to bring it back (respond to my email then, or better yet, get it right the first time “professionals”) and 2) I was making baseless claims, wasn’t an issue when they had it, I didn’t get charged for the incomplete safety items and I criticized their work when I visited (rightfully so, as anyone should, or just kick us out when we criticize how our $xxx p/hr is spent…get it right the first time). I had to tell their ‘tech’ how to run a fuel line, protect the line, secure the line, and paint-protect the bare metal holes they drilled. ‘Tech’ asked me multiple times to let him hook up my stereo and A/C system after seeing the issues w the fuel lines. Even tried selling me on a new exhaust, which I did have interest in but immediately passed on. The backfiring I couldn’t get ‘completely’ resolved so I brought the car to another nearby speed shop who did receive my 5 star review…something I really wanted to do for MM when I dropped it off because of their confidence and talk. As regular practice, always be familiar with Illinois’ Automotive Repair Act 815 ILCS 306 and be cautious of what and when you sign anything.

If you have a Challenger, Charger, or anything with a HEMI, Modern Muscle is the place to go! Pulled up to see a Trackhawk and a Hemi 300C out front, I knew that I was in the right place. Outstanding service! Brad and his crew went above and beyond to solve my issues and make some power. I have a fairly standard FBO Charger RT, intake, headers, high flow cats, and have had another companies "email-tune" cause issues with emissions. After speaking with Brad, I was confident to let his shop Dyno and Re-Tune my baby "Chewy". Got a call the same week that my car was ready to rock nd roll. Brad handed me a dyno sheet that I was very happy with, and gave me the full rundown of what to expect. Chewy is running and driving better than ever, all of my issues are fixed. They stand by their work and told me to stop by if I needed anything checked or changed. I could not be happier with the entire process, feels like they really care about the cars they work on. I'm very excited to work with them in the future and cannot recommend them highly enough.

2016 Camaro SS-Cam/DOD delete/headers Its been atleast 6mos since I had work done at Modern Muscle. Work was done out of necessity, but Brad was very easy to work with, and we worked together to come to a price point that worked for me. The shop was busy so it took some time for the work to be completed but good work takes time. I havent had any issues with my vehicle since ive gotten work done and it sounds great!

This was my first experience with work being completed by modern Muscle but it was a long time in the making. Brad talked through options in detail years before my factory warranty was over. So I had a solid plan when I was ready. They stand behind their work and have enough patience for us picky car owners.
