Mission Hills Automotive Introduce

For those navigating the complexities of vehicle maintenance and repair in San Diego, **Mission Hills Automotive** presents itself as an option within the Auto Repair Stations category. Located at **308 W Washington St, San Diego, CA 92103, USA**, this shop can be reached via phone at **(619) 299-9367** or mobile at **+1 619-299-9367**. It's important for potential customers to consider a balanced view of the services and experiences reported by others.

The environment at Mission Hills Automotive, typical of many auto repair stations, is geared towards efficient vehicle servicing. While the specific aesthetics of the waiting area are not detailed in reviews, the focus is undoubtedly on the technical aspects of car repair. As an established auto repair shop, it likely features a functional workshop space where technicians work on vehicles, and a reception area for customer interactions. The professional setting is designed to handle a steady flow of various automotive issues, from routine maintenance to more complex diagnostics and repairs.

Mission Hills Automotive offers a broad spectrum of services that one would expect from a comprehensive Auto Repair Station. These services reportedly include **factory scheduled maintenance (30k/60k/90k/120k mile services), computer diagnostics, oil changes, tune-ups, filter replacements, safety & emissions inspections, windshield wiper blade replacement, fluid services, trip inspections, and check engine light diagnostics and repair**. More specific services include **brake repair (including Antilock Braking System or ABS repair), shocks & struts repair, chassis & suspension repair, engine repair (including engine replacement, performance checks, belt/hose/cooling system/radiator/water pump repair, drivability diagnostics, and fuel injection system service)**. They also handle **heating and air conditioner repair, electrical services (power steering, power window, power accessory, light repair), exhaust service (repair and replacement of mufflers and tailpipes), alignment services, and transmission service**. This wide array of offerings positions them as a versatile option for various vehicle makes and models, including imports and hybrids, as well as specific mentions of Mini Coopers and Ram 1500 trucks. They also offer a 24-month/24,000-mile warranty on most repairs.

Reviews for Mission Hills Automotive present a varied picture. On one hand, several customers report consistently positive experiences, highlighting **fast, thorough, and competitively priced service**. One notable account details a Mini Cooper headlight malfunction that the dealership quoted over a thousand dollars to fix, while Mission Hills Automotive resolved it within a few hours for just a diagnostic fee. Other positive feedback emphasizes their **reliability, trustworthy service, and ability to handle various vehicle issues**, indicating a level of professionalism and capability in many common repairs. They are also listed as a **AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility**, which typically means they meet specific standards for customer service, facility appearance, and technician qualifications, and offer discounts to AAA members (10% off labor and parts, up to $75).

Conversely, there are strong negative testimonials that raise significant concerns. One particularly severe review describes an incident involving incorrect parts installation on a Ram 1500 4x4, specifically a rear differential with the wrong ratio (3.21 instead of 3.55). This alleged error reportedly led to extensive damage to the transfer box and front differential gears, costing the customer an additional $5,000 in repairs. The customer also claimed a lack of responsiveness and care from the owner, Randy, even after providing proof of the alleged error. This stark contrast in experiences suggests that while some customers receive excellent service, others may encounter substantial issues, particularly with complex or specialized repairs. It highlights the importance of thorough communication and potentially seeking second opinions for major repairs, especially if the vehicle requires highly specific component matching, such as differential ratios for 4x4 systems.

In terms of promotional information, Mission Hills Automotive appears to rely on customer satisfaction and their broad range of services. Their website indicates they offer **online appointment scheduling and auto repair estimates** to help customers understand costs upfront. They also mention that they "love the chance to provide customers with estimates because it allows us to show them how much money we can save them!" Additionally, they periodically feature **money-saving specials**, such as discounts on oil changes and mileage-based services (e.g., 30K/60K/90K services), which are updated monthly and have expiration dates. They emphasize their commitment to keeping car repair costs down by suggesting customers adhere to factory recommended maintenance and avoid putting off minor repairs that could lead to more expensive issues. For customer convenience, they offer a **free shuttle service and an in-house loaner vehicle**. The presence of **ASE Certified Technicians** and their proximity to downtown San Diego, with ample shopping and Balboa Park nearby, are also highlighted as benefits for customers waiting for their vehicles.

For local users in San Diego considering Mission Hills Automotive, it is advisable to weigh the reported strengths of fast, competitively priced general service and their AAA approval against the serious concerns raised about complex, specialized repairs and customer communication. While they offer a wide array of services and some customers have had highly positive experiences, particularly with more common vehicle issues, the detailed negative account suggests a need for caution and perhaps extra vigilance when dealing with highly specific or critical component replacements, especially for out-of-state vehicles or those requiring precise technical matching.

Mission Hills Automotive Customer Reviews

I've brought my mini cooper in to this shop many times over the years and have always received fast, thorough, and competitively priced service. This most recent trip I brought it in for a headlight malfunction that the dealership was going to charge over a thousand dollars for, and Mission Hills fixed it in a few hours for only the diagnostic fee. Love it!

Terrible, terrible, terrible! Not professional definitely no service, STAY AWAY! They installed the wrong parts, caused me damage of 5,000$, and nobody care. I live in LA, my rear differential in my Ram 1500 4x4 broke, I towed my car to them. They said it will be 4,000$ to replace it with used one. Fine, what can I do? They replaced the rear axle as a whole, a couple of months later I tried to use the 4x4 (it's a work car I'm not really using it), and the car was feeling like it getting hits and made crazy noice, than stopped. I towed it to my mechanic in LA, and after couple of days of diagnosing, he found out they installed a back differential ratio of 3.21when it needed to be 3.55!!! Caused the transfer box damaged, and the front differential gears as well, I had to replace both. My mechanic did 3 times what they did and charged me about the same. and the WORST PART is they didn't care, the owner (Randy) never called me, nearly returned my emails. Even after I sent him all the proof he asked for, and even a video of my mechanic proving the wrong ratio on the car. THEY EXPLOITED ME, THEY OVERCHARGED ME AND THEY DIDN'T DO THE JOB CORRECTLY

A friend highly recommended Mission Hills Automotive and we’re so glad she did! We’ve been going for a couple years or so now and they’re are always friendly, helpful, and communicative. Most importantly, they always give clear explanations about what’s wrong with our car(s) and are transparent about what is unsafe and needs to be fixed ASAP vs what can wait if we want to save money. They even have a red, yellow, green light system where they lay out all the issues they find with your car, their cost, and details about why repairs need to happen. We so appreciate their patience and clear (non-condescending!!) explanations, which are qualities not every mechanic shop has. We definitely will only come here for our car mechanic needs!

Cue the Carly Simon music... "Nobody does it better..." The peeps at Mission Hills Automotive know their stuff, never try to gouge one for their services, always explain what is happening in a non-obnoxious, non-arrogant, "why don't you understand how a car works" way, without being patronizing; and you always leave knowing you have been taken care of by the very best! And if for any reason you are not totally satisfied, just give them a ring and they will do their very best to rectify the problem. As an added bonus... they are quite easy on the eyes. :)

Missions Hills Auto always does a wonderful job! I love the inspection details that are texted to see what are urgent or non-urgent repairs. Octavio is an awesome technician and Evan is a great easy going service advisor. I recommend them to anyone that needs auto service!
