This summer was my first visit to Menlo Atherton Car Repair. It was an emergency as a warning light came on my dashboard, and I arrived without an appointment. Typically, they don't accept walk-ins, but a kind gentleman—an older staff member—asked his team to assist me due to the urgent situation. Everything was resolved within 10 minutes, and to my surprise, they didn’t charge me a dime. I was deeply touched by their kindness. I had read the great reviews about this shop, and now I understand why. It wasn’t just about the money; I truly felt they cared about my safety. I even learned during our conversation that Stanford University's vehicles are among their clients, which gave me even more confidence in their work. Fast forward to now—I’m preparing for a road trip to the Grand Canyon. Despite many car repair shops being closer to me, I chose to return to Menlo Atherton Car Repair because of the trust they built during my first visit. As a foreign Asian student who’s been in the U.S. for only two years, I don’t have much money and my English isn’t perfect. It’s easy for someone like me to be taken advantage of, but I believed this shop was different. This time, I had mixed feelings. I drive a car with less than 30,000 miles, so when they recommended the replacement of all four tires, I thought it was too soon. However, after speaking with Steven, I understood their genuine concern for my safety. Steven patiently explained everything and helped me choose tires that fit my budget, even sharing discount options I wouldn’t have known otherwise. He could have easily pushed me to spend more, but instead, he showed real care. For that, I’m truly grateful. My second memorable experience came when I went to pick up my car. On my way, I was riding a scooter on campus, but the battery unexpectedly died, leaving me stranded. I knew the shop closed at 6 PM, and without a working phone, I couldn’t let them know I’d be late. I ran as fast as I could, but I arrived 15 minutes after closing time. It was dark, rainy, and I was feeling both fear and guilt. Seeing the lights still on at Menlo Atherton Car Repair gave me such relief—until I tripped and fell just before reaching the door. My knees are still scraped, and my left ankle hurts from the fall. Despite my tardiness, Ryan and his team were still waiting for me. When I apologized profusely, they responded with kindness and reassurance. Their warm words comforted me, and I could sense their sincerity. That night, even after what could have been a frustrating delay for them, Ryan treated me with genuine compassion and care. If I could, I’d give Ryan and his team five stars just for their patience and kindness. Ryan, thank you so much for everything! Trust is the most important factor when choosing a car repair shop. Knowing I wasn’t overcharged and that my safety and happiness were prioritized—just like they would for a friend or family member—makes me want to keep coming back. Mario and the amazing techs went above and beyond for us. Our timing belt and ac compressor were shot and we were trying to get back to SB. We got lucky and they were able to squeeze us in same day and get us on the road. Honest guys and straight shooters, all you can ask for.

My Prius was towed to Menlo Atherton Auto Repair after conking out on 101. A diagnostic test couldn't be done that day, but I signed my consent for it to be given the next day, and then their very nice driver gave me a ride to my home in Redwood City. The next day it was determined that my car needed a new water pump. Fortunately they had the part and my car was ready for me to pick up that evening! I'm very impressed with every employee I met there. They were all kind, knowledgeable and courteous. If and when the need rises again I will definitely take my car back to Menlo Atherton Auto Repair.
