M & J Auto Repair and Smog

We live in Lindsay and decided to support our local businesses even though we both travel through Tulare and Visalia for work everyday. So we took one of our vehicles to M & J Auto for a smog check a couple of days ago. We disconnect the battery every night d/t an electrical issue that drains it even when the car is off, so they informed us to keep it connected and start the car regularly so that it can complete the engine checks and to bring it back in and they would only charge us the difference (which was $8-$10) since they couldn't run the test. We paid $42 the first day and when we brought it back 2 days later and the same attendant that tended to us the first day completed the tests, he charged us $49 after completion. We have experienced return to shops with a smog inspection with our vehicles in the past and they stood by their word and didn't double charge. Needless to say, we will not be returning to M & J Auto and have learned our lesson. Sometimes spending locally isn't worth it because they aren't customer focused, they are more about how much $ they can get out of you.

I've been around shops all my life these guys know exactly what there doing . I just moved here from SoCal and I've taken my car and diesel truck to them and they repaired or diagnosed in record time . I dont have anything bad to say about this shop only good .

I have had Miguel do a lot of my auto repairs for a long time. He and his son are hard working and conscientious. They work on many different makes and models of cars and pick-ups. They are a great local business that strives to do the best!

I went in about a week ago to get a transmission flush. Looked around and ended up going with M&J. Miguel was very professional and took care of my truck very well. Before hand, he took my truck out for a spin to verify a transmission was adequate and confirmed. Would recommend this shop 10/10. Reasonable prices and exceptional service.
