J & R Transmissions Introduce

For residents of Tucson, Arizona, in need of automotive services, particularly transmission work, J & R Transmissions is a local establishment located at 4055 E 29th St, Tucson, AZ 85711, USA. They can be reached via phone at (520) 790-0475 or mobile at +1 520-790-0475. As an Auto Repair Station, the business primarily focuses on providing services related to vehicle maintenance and repair, with a specialized emphasis on transmissions, as their name suggests.

When considering an auto repair facility, several factors come into play, including the environment of the shop, the range and quality of services offered, unique features that set them apart, and any promotional information that might be available. Based on publicly available information, including customer reviews, we can provide an objective introduction to J & R Transmissions.

Environment and Facilities

While specific details about the physical environment of J & R Transmissions are not extensively detailed in public reviews, the location at 4055 E 29th St suggests a dedicated commercial space typical of auto repair shops. Generally, customers expect a clean, organized, and safe environment when entrusting their vehicles for repair. A well-maintained waiting area, clear signage, and a systematic approach to vehicle intake and delivery contribute to a positive customer experience. The nature of transmission repair often involves specialized equipment and a workshop designed to handle intricate automotive components.

Services Offered

As their name clearly indicates, J & R Transmissions specializes in transmission repair and rebuilding. This typically includes a wide range of services related to both automatic and manual transmissions, such as:

  • Transmission diagnostics: Identifying the root cause of transmission issues through specialized computer scans and physical inspections.
  • Transmission rebuilding: Disassembling the transmission, inspecting components, replacing worn or damaged parts (e.g., clutches, bands, gaskets, seals), and reassembling to factory specifications. This is a core service, aiming to restore the transmission to a like-new condition.
  • Transmission replacement: Installing a new or re-manufactured transmission unit when repair is not feasible or cost-effective.
  • Transmission fluid changes and flushes: Routine maintenance to ensure optimal transmission performance and longevity.
  • Differential and transfer case services: Often related to transmission issues, especially in 4x4 vehicles.

While their primary focus is transmissions, many auto repair stations also offer general automotive repair services to some extent, such as brake services, oil changes, and basic engine diagnostics, to provide a more comprehensive offering to their clientele. However, for J & R Transmissions, their specialization suggests that customers are primarily seeking their expertise in transmission-related problems.

Features and Customer Experience

One of the most significant features of any auto repair business is its customer service and the perceived quality of its work. Customer reviews provide direct insights into these aspects. It's important to note that experiences can vary, and it's always advisable for potential customers to consider a range of feedback.

Some customer experiences highlight specific concerns. For instance, one customer reported issues with a transmission rebuild, stating that the rebuilt transmission lasted only 13 months before experiencing the same problems. This customer also raised concerns about the parts used in the rebuild, specifically mentioning a 4x4 rebuild kit allegedly used in a 2x4 case, and discrepancies regarding the transmission pan and inspection plate upon vehicle return. The customer expressed significant dissatisfaction with the longevity of the repair and the perceived value for money, especially given the cost of the rebuild. This individual's follow-up communication further underscored a breakdown in trust and communication, particularly regarding the shop's response to their concerns and the suggestion of additional charges for a repeat repair.

Another review detailed a negative experience with initial customer service over the phone. The potential customer reported being met with rudeness, unhelpful responses, and ultimately being hung up on. This feedback points to concerns about the professionalism and approachability of the staff, which are crucial elements for attracting and retaining new customers, especially those new to the area.

Promotional Information

Based on the provided information, there isn't specific promotional material readily available. However, the customer review mentioning a "$1200 for return customer (cash price)" suggests that J & R Transmissions may offer discounted rates or special pricing for repeat clients or for cash payments. This kind of incentive can be a feature for some customers, potentially offering a more affordable option for those returning for further service or those preferring cash transactions. Without official promotional announcements, it's difficult to ascertain the full scope of their marketing efforts or any ongoing deals they might have. Potential customers are advised to inquire directly with the shop about any current promotions or discounts they may be offering.

In summary, J & R Transmissions serves the Tucson community as a specialized auto repair station focusing on transmission services. While their expertise in transmissions is their core offering, potential customers may wish to consider the varied customer experiences shared online, particularly regarding repair longevity and customer service interactions, to make an informed decision.

J & R Transmissions Customer Reviews

Took my Chevy truck into their shop with a 3rd and 4th gear not working,2800$(cash price-?) and they rebuilt the tranny. Now I'm having the same issue and they tell me 1700 to fix,1200 for return customer(cash price). Originally they said they put a 4x4 rebuild kit in a 2x4 case-thats not what I paid for. Got my truck back, had no inspection plate on it,the tranny pan was much smaller than the one on it when I took it in. Said 200 more to get one, shouldnt it have one upon returning my truck to me? 2800 dollars got me a transmission that lasted 13 months and was told "you don't get as much out of them as you do when they are new"-REALLY!?!! They rebuild job should've been done with new parts,at least that's what I believed my money was paying for.....very dissatisfied and without my truck still. In response to your response- My name is Anthony G Kelsey and my "mystery truck" is a 96 k1500 that your shop rebuilt the 4l60e having shift issues I am not up to par on the terms and names of the parts you use,but I take great offense when call me a liar, made up customer or anything else than what I am-A PAYING CUSTOMER. Look through your customer files/records and bet you find my name. And you DID use a 2 wheel tranny case and installed it in my truck with it having a smaller pan-you said you ordered it from PHX .I don't know what else was said when I picked up my truck and paid in full for the work done .But what I do know is that I paid alot of money (to me)for my trucks transmission to have the exact same issue little over a year later. And you think I would let you guys try and fix it again? For 1700 bucks more? Sir-i am not a liar NOR a fool... . Now vVERY dissatisfied and STILL without my truck- again,ANTHONY G. KELSEY

I called to get some information about the business and possibly bring my car there and whoever answered the phone was very rude. He answered by saying “you’re coming up as spam, what do you want?” We had a bad connection so it was difficult to hear the guy so I had asked him to repeat what he said and he seemed to be mad at me for simply trying to hear him. I asked about my car and he responded rudely, I then asked him what his name was so I could thank him for his time and HE HUNG UP ON ME! Not sure how you can possibly run a business with such rudeness towards a potential customer. I am new to Tucson, but rest assured I will make sure everyone I come in contact knows how poorly I was treated. Wish I could give negative stars!

Beware. James and his son are not mechanics and they are not Transmission guys. They will only tell you this after they replace your transmission and find out that was not the problem. They are not qualified to diagnose Transmission issues. Even after they install a new one. They will not stand behind their work. After paying $2700 I find out my intermittent shifting issue was nothing more than a $100 dollar orielly computer that after a month they still could not diagnose. BEWARE . Go to a real transmission shop with real mechanics and Transmission techs.that will show the work.i Reply to James. You don't stand behind your work or your word. You and your son give two different stories. You hide your work behind gates for a reason. You told me you diagnosed my transmission and I needed a new one. Then when that didn't work you told me you needed to borrow a tool to diagnose the same problem. I have seen your antique phone booth in your office.. You stole $2700 from me. The truck had the exact same issue after you kept it for over a month when I brought it back. . Charging me to fix a problem and giving the truck back with the exact same issue is not standing behind your work. You were unable to diagnose it and made no effort to make it right .interesting how all of you bad reviews are fake according to you.
