Welcome to Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine, an auto repair station located at 3207 E Columbia St, Tucson, AZ 85714, USA. Operating within the category of Auto Repair Stations, HMS ENGINE & Machine appears to specialize in engine-related services, including rebuilding and potentially other machine work, alongside general automotive repairs. This introduction aims to provide local users in Tucson with an objective overview of this facility based on the limited but strongly negative customer feedback available online.
Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine can be contacted at (520) 573-7000 or via their mobile phone number +1 520-573-7000. These contact details allow Tucson residents to reach out for inquiries about their services. However, given the nature of the customer reviews, potential customers are advised to exercise caution and conduct thorough due diligence before engaging with this facility.
Details regarding the environment of Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine are not explicitly provided. However, based on their name and the services they claim to offer, it is likely that their facility includes a workshop equipped for engine rebuilding and general automotive repairs. This would typically involve service bays, engine disassembly and assembly areas, and potentially some machining equipment. The overall environment would be functional for these types of automotive services.
Based on their name and the issues highlighted in the customer reviews, the services offered by Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine likely include:
- Engine Rebuilding: This appears to be a primary service, as indicated by both the company name and the experiences shared by dissatisfied customers who sought engine rebuilds for a Cummins pickup and a Ford Mustang.
- Automotive Machine Work: The inclusion of "Machine" in their name suggests they may offer various machining services related to engine work, such as cylinder head work, block resurfacing, and other precision machining tasks.
- General Auto Repair: While their specialization seems to be engine-focused, they likely also offer general automotive repair and maintenance services. One review mentioned a transmission issue arising after an engine rebuild, implying they may handle transmission work as well.
The features of Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine, as perceived through the lens of the provided customer reviews, paint a concerning picture:
- Extremely Long Repair Times: Multiple customers reported excessively long turnaround times for engine rebuilds, with one taking eight months instead of the quoted 90 days, and another taking over a year. This suggests significant issues with project management and realistic time estimations.
- Poor Quality of Work: One customer stated that the "new engine was just as bad as the old engine" after a rebuild costing $12,000, indicating a failure to properly address the underlying issues and a significant waste of the customer's money.
- Significantly Higher Than Quoted Costs: Another customer reported the engine rebuild costing "a lot more then what was said," highlighting a lack of transparency or accuracy in initial estimates and potential for unexpected and substantial cost increases.
- Potential for Incorrect Installation: The issue with the incorrectly installed transmission after an engine rebuild raises serious concerns about the competence and attention to detail of their mechanics.
- Lack of Accountability and Poor Customer Service: Both reviewers described negative interactions with the owner, Marty, including a failure to return calls, a refusal to address issues (such as the transmission problem), and a general sense of being abandoned after payment. One customer explicitly warned that "after you hand him money and your vehicle he's got you! He won't answer calls or do anything but hide from you."
- Missing Components: The discovery of a completely missing drain tube further points to a lack of thoroughness and attention to detail during the repair process.
- Financial Instability Concerns: One reviewer advised potential customers to "find a reputable shop that isn't in and out of Bankruptcy!" This is a serious allegation that warrants significant caution from anyone considering their services.
- Strong Negative Recommendations: Both reviewers explicitly stated that they would not recommend HMS to anyone, advising others to "save yourself the time, money and headache and go somewhere else."
The provided customer reviews are overwhelmingly negative and detail significant issues with the service provided by Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine. The experiences shared include excessively long repair times, substandard quality of work, unexpected cost increases, potential for incorrect installations, a lack of accountability, poor communication, and even concerns about the financial stability of the business. These are serious red flags for any potential customers.
Given the severely negative nature of the available feedback, it is highly unlikely that there is any positive promotional information to be gleaned from these sources. In fact, the reviews serve as a strong warning against using their services. Any potential promotions offered by a business with such significant customer dissatisfaction should be viewed with extreme skepticism.
In conclusion, Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine in Tucson, while operating as an auto repair station specializing in engine rebuilding and potentially other machine work, has received overwhelmingly negative feedback from the limited customer reviews available online. These reviews detail extremely long repair times, poor quality of work, unexpected cost increases, potential for incorrect installations, a lack of accountability, and serious concerns about the business's practices and financial stability. Local users in Tucson are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and consider these experiences before entrusting their vehicles to Hussak Motorsports LLC / HMS ENGINE & Machine. It would be prudent to seek alternative auto repair stations with a more positive and reliable track record based on customer feedback.

I took a 2005 Cummins pickup in to Marty for an engine rebuild that was supposed to take 90 days. 8 months later I get the truck back. The new engine was just as bad as the old engine. 12K later I learned that this guy is just a piece of garbage plain and simple. I'm only writing this because I see that others have been taken advantage of in the same fashion. Folks beware after you hand him money and your vehicle he's got you! He won't answer calls or do anything but hide from you. If you're smart you will find a reputable shop that isn't in and out of Bankruptcy! Good Luck!!

Not very happy with the service I received. Had a 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that needed a engine rebuild. The rebuild took over a year and ended up costing a lot more then what was said. Plus when I did get the car back, it drove fine for about 4-5 months then on my way to Tucson from New Mexico I was on I-10 going about 80mph and my transmission locked up. Had the car towed to AA All star and they found that the transmission was installed wrong. Marty said he would remove it and take it to AA All stars so they could fix it. A week later he told AA that he wouldn’t do it, it wasn’t his problem. I also found a drain tube going from the intake shaker to ground completely missing. I would not recommend HMS to anyone, save yourself the time, money and headache and go somewhere else.

Our 1999 Toyota Tacoma needed a new engine. We decided to get the truck fixed for our son for graduating High School. A family member highly recommended Marty to do the job, and after speaking to him a couple of times, we all felt that he would be the man for the job. Here is the exact timeline. May 15 & 16: Phone calls discussing what getting the truck to Marty’s shop for diagnosis. May 17th: Marty confirmed that it arrived and would get back to me with a diagnosis. May 20: Marty contacted me asking for an email addresses to send an estimate. We discussed the details of the estimate, and finalized the details. This includes the gentleman’s agreement that the rebuild would take 4-6 weeks. I say that because at the time, we did not notice that the invoice had no timeline. We mistakenly paid Marty in full for the rebuild at that time as well. An invoice totaling over $6100.00, but we trusted him. June 24th: We haven’t heard a peep from Marty, so I sent him a text at 7:53am ( The shop opens at 8am) asking for a progress report. He never answered me. June 25: Marty set me a text at 1:47pm and it said, “I’m getting ready to start putting the engine back in. I will get with you sometime next week thank you.” I replied “Thank You” and said I would let my excited son know. Then we again didn’t hear a peep from Marty. July 15: Nothing July 16: Nothing July 17: Nothing July 19: Nothing July 25: I called Marty & left a message August 1: We went to visit the shop. I asked Marty about my truck, and he started making jokes about selling my truck. I again asked him about the progress of the truck. He again said it was done and all they had to do was drop the engine back in. We asked to see the truck and he quickly said “no”, but assured us that it was sitting in the mud in his yard. August 9: Still no contact, so I left Marty a message and sent him a text demanding photographs and evidence that the truck was at least being worked on, or I was taking it somewhere else. I also demanded a refund if the job was not finished to our satisfaction. He finally decided to reply. He started off with his boo-hoo story about being a year behind, and swore he didn’t give us any time line, and blah blah blah. I reminded him that he took the job and took our money up front without the sob story three months ago, so that ship has sailed and I still wanted proof of any work that had been done. Marty then said, “Truck will be put back the way it was. I will speak with the owner of the card on Monday when I get back in town. I made no deal with you. Have a great day.” I reminded him that the truck belongs to me, I was paying for the repairs, and that I would be the one to stand in court if it came to that. It was clear to me that he hadn’t even started the project yet, and he was about to get caught. He then said that because I threatened legal action that we wouldn’t get one penny back, that he was recording our conversation, and he saved my voicemails. Then he started demanding a “signed contract” knowing we did all transactions over email and phone. We do have an invoice stating “paid in full”, but like I said before, all we had as far as timeline was a gentlemen’s agreement. I suppose he uses these excuses a lot to defraud customers. I took a screenshot of his text message to me in June saying the engine was done and ready to be dropped in, sent it to him and said “is this the truth or not?” The second he was reminded that he lied and I had proof, he stopped answering me. My mother was told about this conversation, and she then tried to reach out to him as well. Nothing. August 12, 2024 - I messaged Marty at 12:26pm saying we would be by to get the truck at 4pm. He answered me to let me know the truck would be outside the lot. As of today August 30, 2024 - Marty still hasn’t refunded our money nor has he contacted any of us back. The credit card company is now doing a full investigation, and they will be the ones to litigate, should that be necessary.

I suspect the shop is closed permanently. Marty's in Pima county jail (Pima superior court case CR20240056001). I got screwed over by him similar to others here... even after "winning" in court.

Marty and Hms provide a great product and experience. Built a great drag car motor and his knowledge with his chassis dyno helped get the motor just right and maximize what we had in the car. Also went out of his way to check in on me as I was installing the engine and offer any help or advice I needed. Very pleasant experience and will be back for any other engine/tuning needs I have Rob
