Hillside Performance Introduce

Hillside Performance, situated at Rowe Hill Rd, Morrill, ME 04952, USA, positions itself as a dedicated auto repair station specializing in ATV and snowmobile services. Owned and operated by Mike Farris, the shop's stated mission, according to its official website, is to cater to the passion of power sports enthusiasts while also understanding their desire to save money. This includes a commitment to not selling unnecessary parts or services, aiming to build a reputation for quality work primarily through word-of-mouth referrals within the midcoast Maine community.

Operating as an "Auto Repair Station," Hillside Performance primarily focuses on the repair and maintenance of powersports vehicles. This includes, but is not limited to, ATVs (All-Terrain Vehicles) and snowmobiles. The services offered would typically encompass a range of mechanical repairs, engine diagnostics, routine maintenance, and parts replacement for these specialized vehicles. Given the nature of powersports, common services would likely involve carburetor adjustments, engine rebuilds, suspension work, track or tire replacement, electrical system troubleshooting, and general tune-ups to ensure optimal performance and safety for off-road and winter recreational use. The shop aims to be a comprehensive resource for all power sports needs, implying a broad spectrum of repair capabilities.

The environment of a specialized repair shop like Hillside Performance would generally be characterized by a practical, workshop-oriented setting. Located on Rowe Hill Road in Morrill, ME, it is described as being just minutes from Belfast, in the heart of midcoast Maine, with easy access by both vehicle and recreational trails (snowmobile and ATV). This suggests a location well-suited for its clientele, providing convenience for those who actively use their powersports vehicles in the surrounding natural areas. While specific details on the waiting area, customer lounge, or precise shop layout are not widely available, the nature of the business points to a functional workspace designed for vehicle diagnostics and repair. The online presence and descriptive information provided by the business suggest a focus on the technical aspects of repair, rather than elaborate customer amenities often found in larger, more conventional auto dealerships.

Key features of Hillside Performance, as promoted by the business itself, include its specialization in ATVs and snowmobiles, which is a significant advantage for owners of these types of vehicles seeking expert care. The ownership by Mike Farris, an "avid trail rider and racer," is highlighted as a testament to his understanding of power sports, theoretically translating into a more empathetic and knowledgeable service experience. Another prominent feature is the promise of transparency regarding services and parts, aiming to avoid selling customers anything their machine doesn't genuinely require. This commitment to honesty is designed to build trust and foster long-term customer relationships. The shop's convenient location for both vehicle transport and direct trail access also serves as a notable feature for its target demographic.

While the business aims to build its reputation through word-of-mouth, it is important to consider all publicly available customer feedback for an objective introduction. A significant customer review available online, while singular, provides a detailed account of a negative experience. This review highlights several concerns that potential customers should be aware of. The customer reported bringing in two older "wheelers" (likely ATVs or similar recreational vehicles) that were running but needed carburetor adjustments and a general going-over, along with specific smaller fixes. The review states that the machines were at the shop for over three months, during which the customer claims to have gone over the repair details three separate times with the owner, with the owner only making notes on the third occasion. Upon retrieval, the customer stated the machines were running worse than when they were dropped off, though they started easier. Specific requested items were allegedly not addressed, and the customer was told they were never discussed, despite prior conversations. Furthermore, the review mentioned claims of services supposedly performed but not actually completed, and the discovery of damaged parts (a broken gas tank and coolant reservoir) that were intact before being brought to the shop. The billing process was also criticized, with a hand-scribbled bill of $2700.00 lacking itemization, despite the customer providing most of the parts used. The customer expressed a significant lack of professionalism, feeling "screwed over and overcharged," and cited the owner's alleged statement about working "very little" as a red flag. This customer ultimately had to perform the necessary repairs themselves, leading to a lost riding season. The review also challenged a claimed 20 years of experience by the owner, suggesting a lack of understanding regarding certain repair distinctions, like "top end" versus "rebuild," and mentioning the owner's alleged sourcing of parts from eBay.

It is crucial to present this customer feedback objectively as it forms a part of the publicly available information regarding Hillside Performance. While one negative review does not represent the entirety of a business's operations, it provides a direct account of a customer's experience and concerns regarding communication, service quality, billing transparency, and timeliness. Potential customers are advised to consider this feedback in conjunction with other information they may gather when deciding whether to utilize Hillside Performance for their automotive repair needs. As no direct promotional information for services or specific seasonal offers were readily available in the provided text, any current promotions would need to be inquired about directly with Hillside Performance via their listed phone numbers: (207) 342-2365 or +1 207-342-2365.

In summary, Hillside Performance in Morrill, ME, aims to serve the local powersports community by providing specialized ATV and snowmobile repair services. Its stated commitment includes providing necessary repairs without overselling, leveraging the owner's personal experience as a rider. The shop's location offers convenient access for its target demographic. However, potential customers should be aware of critical feedback regarding service duration, communication clarity, repair completeness, billing practices, and overall professionalism, as highlighted in a detailed customer review. It is always recommended that individuals seeking services from any auto repair station conduct their own due diligence, including direct communication with the shop and potentially seeking multiple estimates, to ensure their needs align with the services offered and the customer experience provided.

Hillside Performance Customer Reviews

Very disappointed with this shop. I brought in two older wheelers, both running just needed carbs adjusted, wanted them gone through, and a few smaller things that I specifically asked to be fixed. My machines were there over three months and I went over the same details three separate times with the owner, only the third time he actually scribbled down what was to be done. After getting frustrated (3 months later) I called a few times wanting the machines back and finally got approval to do so. I got them back running worse then when I bought them there however they started easier. I asked about the some of the specific items I wanted done and was told we never discussed them when in fact we did, 3 times. There were things I was told were done but definitely were not, and there were damaged parts that were fine before like one broken gas tank and one broken coolant reservoir. At the end I got a hand scribbling with no itemization of what was done, just a few parts and a $2700.00 bill not to mention I brought all the parts I had which was most of what was used. I went here because I didn’t have time to work on them as I work a lot and felt a “professional” would be more thorough. I lost all season riding as he had my machines until beginning of August and we’re still not working properly. I had to go through them myself with the little time I have, like I was going to originally do. I feel as this individual screwed me over and overcharged for what was done. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere even if you have to travel. There is zero professionalism at this shop and the owner doesn’t take it seriously as he stated he works very little. I saw the red flags but gave the benefit of the doubt, big mistake. I really hate to leave this review but it upsets me so much that I feel it’s necessary to let others know. Yes I know I brought parts just stuff I had as I stated and didn’t care if you used them or not. Second yes I knew it would take time the point was you didn’t do what was needed. I have the machines running perfect now and I’m not a repair shop. I wasn’t looking for a miracle as you said I know they are old but like I said they we’re already running when you received them. A top end is far from a rebuild, thought you would know that with 20 years experience. Also you said you sourced on e bay too🤔

The owner of this establishment is very unorganized. Me and my father brought 2 Polaris scramblers one a 98’ and one a 97’, yes they are old and worn out machines but we brought them there to get them running better one needed a carb(because I put a cheap carb on it and was done messing around with it) so all he needed to do was get the proper rebuild kit since he’s been doing this for 20+ years we thought he knew where to source the correct parts from the carb was very out of tune and not even ten minutes of having it back we adjusted it and it ran much better. As for the other machine we got it back with a broken gas tank and cracked coolant (he told us about the coolant reservoir) the machine was very spuddery, lacked power and overheated. my father had to constantly remind him of what needed to be done to it because the mechanic never kept a log of what needed to be done until he scribbled down what he apparently did to get paid.
