Globe Auto Tech Introduce

Globe Auto Tech, situated at 3652 University Ave B, San Diego, CA 92104, USA, operates as an "Auto Repair Station" providing various automotive services to the local community. Their contact numbers are (619) 284-2007 and +1 619-284-2007. As a local car repair shop, it aims to serve the automotive needs of vehicle owners in the San Diego area, offering diagnostic and repair services.

Environment and Customer Interaction

As a physical auto repair shop, Globe Auto Tech would typically feature a service bay area where vehicles are worked on by mechanics, and a customer waiting area or reception where clients can discuss their car's issues and check in/out. The overall environment, as perceived by customers, appears to be a point of significant contention. Based on the provided reviews, the customer interaction environment at Globe Auto Tech is described in very negative terms by multiple reviewers. One customer, specifically, felt that the mechanic "will try to rip you off" and "takes advantage of people that don't know." This sentiment is reiterated by another reviewer who calls them a "rip-off DUDE" and states they have "very very bad business." The emotional language used in the reviews (e.g., numerous angry emojis) strongly conveys a feeling of distrust and frustration. There are allegations of dishonesty, attempts to overcharge for simple fixes, and a lack of transparency.

The waiting time for the smog check customer, who was told "at max I would see there 15 min" but ended up waiting an hour, also suggests potential issues with time management and managing customer expectations. The experience of being left "in limbo" without a call back after a month further points to a breakdown in professional communication. The reviews paint a picture where customers feel unheard, misled, and potentially exploited, leading to a highly negative and untrustworthy service environment for those who have experienced these issues.

Services Offered

Based on the customer reviews, Globe Auto Tech offers at least the following services:

  • AC Diagnostics and Repair: One customer visited specifically for an AC diagnostic. While the customer felt they were being overcharged for a simple issue, the service itself was offered. This suggests they are equipped to assess and potentially repair vehicle air conditioning systems.
  • STAR Certified Smog Checks: The second detailed review indicates that Globe Auto Tech is a "STAR certified smog" station. This means they are authorized to perform state-mandated emissions inspections for vehicles in California. Smog checks involve both visual inspections of emissions-related components (like hoses) and a machine-based analysis of exhaust gases.
  • General Mechanical Repair (Inferred): While not explicitly detailed, a shop that performs diagnostics and smog checks and offers to replace parts (like hoses for a smog retest) generally implies a capacity for basic to intermediate mechanical repairs. The offer to "get the parts and do the labor" for broken hoses suggests they handle common wear-and-tear repairs.

Features and Reported Issues

While the business aims to provide essential auto repair services, the customer feedback highlights several concerning features:

  • Questionable Pricing and Honesty: A recurring theme is the perception of being "ripped off" and charged excessively for diagnostics or simple repairs. The AC diagnostic fee of $95, which the customer felt was unnecessary given the simple Freon fix, is a prime example.
  • Lack of Transparency: In the smog check scenario, the customer felt the mechanic "checked my car before hooking up the machine, knowing I would fail but did it anyway" and "changed his story about why I failed." This points to a significant lack of transparency and potentially deceptive practices during critical inspections.
  • Poor Communication and Follow-up: The failure to call back the smog check customer after a month, despite promising to do so, and the lack of communication regarding the 2-week recheck window, are significant red flags regarding their professional communication and customer care.
  • Inconsistent Information: The changing story about the smog check failure (from "hoses were broken" to "failed visual inspection") further undermines trust and suggests a lack of consistent and honest assessment.
  • Low Overall Rating (3.4): The mention of a "low rating 3.4" by one customer is a strong indicator that the negative experiences are not isolated incidents but reflect a broader pattern that affects the business's overall standing.

Promotional Information and Market Standing

Based on the provided information, there is no positive promotional information to share. Instead, the customer reviews serve as a stark warning to prospective customers. The common promotional aspects for an auto repair shop, such as reliability, expertise, and fair pricing, are directly challenged by these testimonials. The negative reviews actively discourage patronage, with customers explicitly stating "don't go to Global Auto Tech," "not recommended trust me," and "feel free to experience horrible service and rip off." The direct challenge to the business ("look at the reviews I'm not the only one that says that you are a rip-off DUDE") and the low rating are significant public deterrents.

For local users in San Diego, especially those searching for an "Auto Repair Station," the information suggests extreme caution when considering Globe Auto Tech. While they do offer services like AC diagnostics and STAR certified smog checks, the consistent and strongly negative feedback regarding honesty, pricing, communication, and overall professionalism indicates that customers might encounter significant challenges and dissatisfaction. It is advisable for anyone considering this shop to proceed with extreme vigilance and potentially seek multiple opinions or estimates before committing to any service.

This is the closest star certified smog by my home. When I went in to get certified he asked me to pop open my hood, before he even hooked up my car to the machine. In the end, he told me my car didn't pass because my hoses were broken and didn't pass the machine. He said he could get the parts and do the labor. I waited for 30 min while he checked with suppliers to see when he could get the part. By this time I had been at the location for about an hour and they had told me at max I would see there 15 min. I asked if I could leave my number and have them call me when they knew the part would be in and how much the labor would cost. A month passes, I hear nothing from them. I swing by and the mechanic tells me Hoss is gone for the day. I decide to ask a different mechanic shop to fix the hoses. They fix it in one day. I bring it to Hoss to do a complimentary recheck, as required by law as I was told by the other mechanic. The other mechanic thought it was sketchy that Hoss wouldn't tell me before hooking up the machine I wouldn't pass because the hoses are worn and that is a visual inspection. When I ask him to recheck he says it has been more than 2 weeks and I must pay again. When we went over the report he gave me last time I asked him what I failed on, he changed his story and said I failed visual inspection. I just got bad vibes and felt ripped off because 1) he checked my car before hooking up the machine, knowing I would fail but did it anyway 2) did not tell me about the 2 week window for rechecks 3) I waited for him to call me back to which he didn't, had I know that I would of immediate asked someone else to do it and would have been back in within that week 4) changed his story about why I failed and what I needed to do to pass. He told me I would need to pass again. I left. I felt like he wasn't being honest or professional with me. I wish if they didn't have time to work on my car or didn't have the part or whatever the reason is for why they just left me in limbo, they should have called and let me know instead of waiting for me to follow up with them thinking I was waiting for them to do their due diligence.

The owner and his mechanic were extremely helpful and went beyond my expectations. They're cost was less than some, but industry fair. They know what their doing and I continue to take my Camry to them. I dont expect anything for free. They won't do you wrong. (4) months later, now February 21 2019 Brought my vehicle here again. The car had overheated the night before. The problem/solution: a new thermostat was ordered from Toyota. The owner and his mechanic were able to have the repair completed and ready the next day. You couldn't ask for more friendly and honest service! They are also have many years of experience and enjoy what they do! I will bring both my personal and work vehicle's here again. They've done my brakes, suspension and thermostat! Thank-you guys! Fred H.

Hass seems very honest and friendly. I check out other places but once I talked to hass it was a done deal. I have my 86 chevy engine being rebuild here. So far no complaints or issues.

These two men were Rude!!! Was referred by the Smog shop up the street.(who was VERY kind but not Star Certified) The men here, however, did not speak English well, Did not speak when I pulled In to inquire about service, and half answered my questions once I got to asking!. How frustrating! Might as well not be there.
