Gerber Collision & Glass Introduce

Gerber Collision & Glass, located at 6000 Executive Blvd, Dayton, OH 45424, USA, operates as an Auto Repair Station offering a range of services related to vehicle collision damage and auto glass repair and replacement. They can be contacted at (937) 233-3182 or +1 937-233-3182. As part of a larger chain, this Dayton location aims to provide comprehensive solutions for vehicles that have been in accidents, addressing both the structural and cosmetic damage, as well as issues related to windshields and other auto glass.

Based on customer reviews, the environment at Gerber Collision & Glass in Dayton appears to be professional and customer-focused, at least in the initial interactions. The original 5-star review praises the easy intake process, noting it took less than 10 minutes, and the availability of an Enterprise rental car service on-site or easily accessible. The daily text updates provided during the repair process are also highlighted as a positive aspect of their communication. Furthermore, the detailed vehicle detailing performed before pickup, including buffing oxidized headlights to a like-new condition, suggests a commitment to going the extra mile in terms of presentation. The front desk and facing personnel are consistently described as "fantastic," indicating a positive initial and ongoing interaction with the administrative staff.

The services offered by Gerber Collision & Glass in Dayton primarily revolve around collision repair and auto glass services. This includes addressing damage from accidents, such as dent and scratch repair, bodywork, and potentially frame straightening, although the latter is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews. The fact that they handled "a few gashes from a pipe kicking up on the highway" and also addressed nearby scratches indicates their capability in cosmetic repairs. Additionally, their name explicitly includes "Glass," suggesting they offer services such as windshield repair and replacement, as well as other auto glass issues. The initial positive experience with headlight restoration also points to their attention to overall vehicle appearance.

However, the edited reviews introduce significant concerns regarding the quality and thoroughness of the technical repairs performed. One customer experienced a recurring issue with an automatic passenger sliding door that was not resolved despite multiple visits and sensor replacements. The customer expressed skepticism about the diagnosis of a bad door motor, as the door otherwise functioned smoothly, suggesting a potential misdiagnosis or lack of thorough investigation. This led to the customer seeking a second opinion, highlighting a lack of confidence in the troubleshooting process for this particular issue. The fact that a pre-work inspection or function check might not have been performed raises questions about their standard diagnostic procedures.

Another review details an issue arising after a passenger side door repair. While the initial collision damage seemed to be fixed, the window subsequently failed. Upon inspection by an independent mechanic, it was found that the window regulator had been incorrectly installed with loose clips and misaligned lining, leading to its premature failure and an additional $256 expense for the customer. This suggests potential negligence or error in the reassembly of door components during the collision repair process. The customer's frustration was compounded by the lack of follow-up after leaving two messages for a staff member named Lisa.

Features of Gerber Collision & Glass in Dayton appear to be a mix of positive customer service aspects and concerning technical execution. The convenience of rental car arrangements, proactive communication through daily updates, and attention to vehicle detailing are positive features. The friendly and helpful front desk staff also contribute to a positive initial impression. However, the negative experiences related to the unresolved sliding door issue and the improperly installed window regulator raise serious concerns about the expertise and thoroughness of their repair technicians. The lack of a returned phone call regarding the window issue further detracts from their customer service reputation in handling post-repair problems.

There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. Customers considering Gerber Collision & Glass in Dayton should weigh the positive aspects of their intake process and communication against the reported issues with the quality of repairs and after-service follow-up. The discrepancy between the initial positive experiences and the subsequent problems indicates a potential inconsistency in their service quality. Local users might want to inquire about their diagnostic processes, technician certifications, and warranty policies before entrusting their vehicles to this Auto Repair Station.

In conclusion, Gerber Collision & Glass in Dayton, OH, presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While they seem to excel in customer communication, intake efficiency, and vehicle detailing, there are significant concerns regarding the accuracy of their diagnoses and the quality of their repair work, as evidenced by the unresolved sliding door issue and the improperly installed window regulator. The lack of follow-up on customer complaints is also a point of concern. Local users considering Gerber Collision & Glass for their auto repair needs should be aware of these varying experiences and potentially seek further assurances regarding the quality and reliability of their technical services.

Gerber Collision & Glass Customer Reviews

*2-Star Edit (12/11) - had another mechanic look at the door, expecting to need a new door motor. There was a black sill plate above the track where the wrong bolts were used - the bolts were dipping into the track and stopping the door. This took 5 minutes for the mechanic to find and they didn't charge me. I bought new bolts, the correct length, and the door works perfectly again. Extremely disappointed that we waited this long with an inoperable door because Gerber's techs didn't take the time to find the issue. I will be finding another shop in the event I need service again. Keeping it at 2 Stars because the front desk and facing personnel were always fantastic - this wasn't their issue. *3-Star Edit - Everything below still applies, but the rest of the interaction degraded. The next time we used the van, the automatic passenger sliding door would no longer remain open. I called back, they offered the replace the pin sensor again to see if that fixed it. A couple weeks later, we took it in this morning and they messaged a few hours later that the sensor didn't fix it, and it was likely a bad door motor. This doesn't make sense to me, as the door opens and closes perfectly, no jerky motions or signs that anything is worn out, it simply gets to the end of the track and then closes. But since they didn't work on the motor, they can't replace it. They offered to send a message to my insurance to see if it would be covered, but I don't think this is necessary as there are no symptoms or codes of a bad motor. It seems like a calibration or sensor issue. But since there's no way to prove it was working before they got the van and likely no pre-work inspection/function check, there's nothing to be done besides getting a second opinion from another shop. Without proof either way, it's he said/she said. I just wish it was tested prior to taking the door off for repair, as I'm not sure why this sensor would have been removed/replaced in the first place for dent and scratch repair. Original 5-star review: I could not be more impressed! We came to Dayton four years ago and hadn't needed a body shop yet. Our insurance company recommended Gerber and I was skeptical because we had a personally chosen shop where we lived prior. The intake was easy, in and out in less than 10 minutes and I was walking down to enterprise for the rental. I received daily texts with updates the entire time my van was there. No hassle with enterprise when the project needed an extra day, they handled communication. Upon pickup, the level of detail and work they put into just fixing a few gashes from a pipe kicking up on the highway was amazing. Since the damage was close to some other scratches, they took care of those as well. I had also thought we'd need new headlights because of oxidation and and a couple restoration kits failing - but they detailed the vehicle before pickup and buffed the headlights to like-new!

I had my car repaired there after someone merged into my passenger side door. Everything seemed okay, until I went to roll my window down the other day and it wouldn’t go back up. I ending up spending $256 on a window regulator and my engineer friend replaced it. He told me that most of the clips weren’t clipped correctly and that the lining (or whatnot) was off and caused the regulator to break. Very frustrating when getting your vehicle repaired ends up costing you money later due to error/negligence. Edited to add: I did call and leave two messages for Lisa, she never returned my calls.

I went there to get an estimate. The gentleman that came out to inspect my car was great! I told them what I wanted and they told me they would send my estimate to my email the same day. To my surprise, 5 days later it has not been sent. So, I called and spoke to the lady at the front desk, to ask about my estimate. The conversation started great, till I reminded her about what she had told me five days prior. She became rude, loud and shutting me down throughout the conversation with out listening to me. While I was trying to tell this lady what I wanted, she told me in a very mean tune, "I AM TALKING! YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO ME AND LET ME FINISH!" I have never seen ANYONE talked that way to a customer. I felt embarrassed and really belittled by this woman. She never listened to me and never emailed my estimate to me like she told me 5 days prior. I went there because I had worked with another Gerber and collision company on AlexBell road. Their service was phenomenal! So, I thought they were the same. But I guess I was wrong. I will NEVER GO TO THESE PEOPLE AGAIN! Management needs to address that lady's attitude. She's very temperamental and doesn't act like they need business over there.

My experience went well and the process was smooth. They seem professional, knowledgeable, surprised to find my car was even cleaned very well, I never thought I'd get the sand from our beach visit out of the trunk but these folks perform miracles! Oh, and my bumper repairs were spot on! I reccomend, and would use again myself if god forbid future repairs are needed.

Service was very timely and completely satisfactory. I was updated daily via text and occasional calls. Everyone was very friendly, accommodating and answered all my questions. Car and paint job looked great and was blended perfectly.
