Gerber Collision & Glass Introduce

Gerber Collision & Glass, located at 2929 Burlingame Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49509, USA, functions as an "Auto Repair Station" with a specific focus on collision repair and auto glass services. With contact details including phone number (616) 406-3260 and mobile phone +1 616-406-3260, this facility is part of a larger national chain, providing services to vehicle owners who have experienced accidents or require glass repair.

As an "Auto Repair Station" specializing in collision and glass, Gerber Collision & Glass offers a range of services aimed at restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition. These typically include:

  • Collision Repair: This is their primary service, addressing damage to vehicle body panels, structural components, and chassis following a collision. This involves repairing or replacing damaged parts, and restoring the vehicle's structural integrity.
  • Auto Body Repair: More generally, this covers repairs to the exterior of the vehicle, including dents, scratches, and other cosmetic damage.
  • Dent/Scratch Repair/Removal: Utilizing various techniques for minor and major dent removal, including paintless dent repair (PDR) where applicable, to restore smooth surfaces.
  • Frame Straightening: Employing specialized equipment to realign a vehicle's frame to manufacturer specifications, which is critical for safety and proper handling after a significant impact.
  • Auto Paint Repair and Color Matching: Services include repairing damaged paint areas and carefully matching the new paint to the vehicle's existing color to ensure a seamless finish.
  • Bumper Repair: Addressing damage to plastic and metal bumpers, often involving repair or replacement to restore appearance and safety features.
  • Windshield Replacement and Repair: Offering services for damaged auto glass, including chip repair and full windshield replacement. They emphasize the use of high-quality auto glass and installation materials, often providing mobile auto glass service for customer convenience.

The environment at Gerber Collision & Glass, as a large franchise, generally aims for a standardized professional appearance. This would typically include a reception area for customer intake and consultation, and dedicated bays for bodywork, painting, and glass installation. Being part of a national network, they often emphasize state-of-the-art equipment and trained, certified technicians. The stated goal is to provide a smooth and efficient repair process, though customer experiences can vary as detailed in reviews. They often work closely with insurance companies, which can simplify the claims process for customers.

Features promoted by Gerber Collision & Glass typically include:

  • National Lifetime Guarantee: They offer a lifetime guarantee on their repair work for as long as the customer owns the vehicle, which is a common assurance in the collision repair industry.
  • I-CAR Gold Class Certified Technicians: Many Gerber locations highlight that their technicians are I-CAR Gold Class certified, indicating a high level of training and expertise in collision repair.
  • Free Written Repair Estimates: Customers can typically get a free estimate for the repair work needed on their vehicle.
  • Work with All Insurance Companies: Gerber positions itself as being able to work with any insurance provider, streamlining the claims process for customers.
  • Online Tools: They often provide online platforms for requesting estimates or scheduling appointments.

However, customer reviews for the Wyoming, MI location offer a mixed perspective on the actual experience and the consistent delivery of these features. Some customers report significant dissatisfaction, pointing to several issues:

  • Communication Issues: A major complaint highlights a lack of proactive communication regarding repair timelines or unexpected issues. Customers often had to initiate contact for updates.
  • Quality of Work: Concerns are raised about the quality of repairs, including misaligned parts, noticeable gaps, improperly installed components (e.g., misaligned headlights), and subpar paint or body work. One customer mentioned that despite nearly $13,000 of work, their vehicle looked "awful."
  • Use of Non-OEM/Incorrect Parts: In at least one instance, a customer reported that a replacement headlight was not an original Dodge part, and the wrong bumper was installed, which did not fit the car correctly. There were also claims that Gerber misrepresented what insurance would cover regarding original parts.
  • Accountability and Problem Resolution: Customer feedback suggests difficulties in getting issues rectified, with staff, like 'Josh' mentioned in one review, being perceived as making excuses rather than taking accountability. Multiple return trips for the same issue were reported, indicating a struggle to "do the work right the first time."
  • Transparency Concerns: Accusations of being a "fraudulent company making big money at the consumer's expense" and "subpar work at best" suggest a lack of transparency and a perception that the company prioritizes insurance payments over quality repairs.
  • Rental Car Issues: Challenges with rental car approvals and unexpected charges further added to customer frustration.

Promotional information from Gerber Collision & Glass typically emphasizes their national presence, their "National Lifetime Guarantee," certified technicians, and ease of working with insurance. They aim to convey reliability and convenience. However, the customer reviews suggest that the actual experience can sometimes fall short of these promotional promises.

For instance, their website promotes "quality auto body repair services backed by our industry-leading National Lifetime Guarantee." They also mention being "your full-service auto body shop in Wyoming," offering comprehensive repairs from dent removal to frame straightening and auto glass services. The ease of getting a "free written repair estimate" is also a common promotional point. While these are standard marketing tactics, the negative reviews highlight a disconnect between advertised quality and the actual service delivered in specific instances.

The concerns raised by customers, such as alleged misrepresentations about insurance coverage, the use of ill-fitting or non-OEM parts despite insurance covering original components, and repeated failures to rectify issues, significantly impact their perceived promotional effectiveness. The sentiment of "never again will I allow any of my vehicles have work done at Gerber and everyone I know will hear about my terrible experience" from a frustrated customer illustrates the negative impact of perceived service failures on their reputation and word-of-mouth promotion.

In conclusion, Gerber Collision & Glass at 2929 Burlingame Ave SW, Wyoming, MI, positions itself as a comprehensive "Auto Repair Station" for collision and glass services, leveraging its national network, lifetime guarantee, and certified technicians. They offer a full spectrum of repairs to restore damaged vehicles. While their promotional materials emphasize quality and customer satisfaction, direct customer experiences, as seen in recent reviews, indicate significant concerns regarding repair quality, communication, accountability, and transparency, leading to substantial dissatisfaction in several cases. For local users in Wyoming, MI, considering Gerber Collision & Glass, it is advisable to thoroughly inspect all repairs, clarify insurance coverage for OEM parts, and maintain diligent communication throughout the repair process, as experiences may vary.

Gerber Collision & Glass Customer Reviews

This was my first accident and I chose this place as it was one approved on the list given to me from my insurance AAA! I needed the front bumper and driver’s side headlight replaced along with dents removed from the front side panel of my Dodge Charger! After their estimate was approved by my insurance they ordered the parts and scheduled me an appointment for repair! When dropping my car off I was told that actually the front panel had to be replaced since it was damaged more than he thought! There was absolutely no communication from them with updates so I called after the first couple days since I was never given a time frame for the work to be completed either! After a week went to pick my car up and noticed the gaping by my driver side door and hood and that the bumper was misaligned! I questioned this right away so they brought it back into the garage to see if it could be adjusted and I was told it could not be since the bumper fit so tightly was putting pressure on the front side panel which made it gap and that those were the only parts my insurance would cover! Of course I’m not happy at this point so they offered to fix it and set me up with a rental since it was not fixed correctly and was gonna be a huge inconvenience for me to bring back for another week! After driving for a couple days after picking up that night I was getting flashed by other drivers like my brights were on when they weren’t so after inspecting the headlight noticed it was not aligned and it was not an original Dodge headlight! After this before bringing back to have it fixed correctly I called AAA inspections to find out exactly why my car was repaired incorrectly! I was then told that the bumper they installed in fact did not fit my car that the wrong bumper was sent instead of the one that was ordered (which was never mentioned by Gerber) and he had no idea why they put it on my car to begin with that they should have never had me pick up my car like that! I then went further and questioned the front panel and headlight and was told that my insurance covers all parts original as it was before the accident so when I was told by Gerber those were the only parts my insurance would cover was in fact not true! After being told the correct information from my insurance inspector I mentioned that my headlight was not a Dodge headlight and he kinda laughed and said you noticed that?! Well of course I did!( So now to me I’m thinking okay this is all happening because I am a female and they thought I wouldn’t notice) So he called to Gerber to make sure all the parts were replaced with the CORRECT parts! Upon dropping off for another week was told everything would be replaced correctly that they have the original parts this time! Now to the rental! I have teenagers I bring to work and school along with a granddaughter! The car they covered was a small two door which absolutely would not work so enterprise was supposed to contact Gerber for approval for something more like my car size! This was also my first time renting a car so had no idea I had to have a $50 deposit which would be refunded upon return so they needed my credit card! After return was told they had charged my card for the difference! I questioned the approval about contacting Gerber and they said they didn’t know anything so once I got to Gerber I gave the receipt to them from enterprise and they took a copy and said they would call over to enterprise! Well apparently they didn’t do that either so I ended up paying for that myself! This was absolutely a huge lesson learned and I would NEVER go back! I would suggest if you chose this place inspect everything repaired and know exactly what your insurance covers! First three picture are before repair last three are after the gaping and misalignment!

4 months now I've been dealing with my claim. My parked vehicle was smashed in front of my house. My vehicle goes back into Gerber AGAIN this coming Monday because the work they did is HORRIBLE for nearly $13K they worked my insurance company for. Josh that I have been working with, works harder at making excuses, blaming Dodge, carwashes, any excuse other than taking accountability for their shoddy work. Several people have commented on how awful my truck looks and how dare they think it's acceptable or give me any headache with my legitimate complaints about their terrible work. Gerber Collision is a joke and Josh should not be involved in customer service whatsoever. They/He, didn't even take pictures of my whole vehicle. Just where the initial impact was. Gerber Collision is a fradulent company making big money at the consumers exspense. Never again will I allow any of my vehicles have work done at Gerber and everyone I know will hear about my terrible experience with this overblown franchise. **How convient they only post good reviews. 3 times my vehicle has been to Gerber and they STILL cannot repair my vehicle properly. They are garbage. Beware of these pop-up franchises. They work directly with insurance companies. No wonder the customer gets screwed. They tried to make my situation right, yet my door they "repaired" still makes an awful noise upon opening and closing. But after 3 return trips to a lousy collision shop. I GIVE UP. Please, continue screwing over customers while receiving a big check from insurance companies. Gerber is a SCAM and does subpar work at best. Buyer Beware 🚫

A large work truck backed into my car on the street, really smashed the front end. Had it brought to Gerber and they absolutely blew me away with how good of a job they did. Everyone I work with knows how much I love my car, and they all thought I went out and bought a brand new one to replace it, that's how good it looks! When I picked it up the car was sparkling clean, inside and out. Chad was the gentleman that I worked with/spoke to along with my insurance adjuster, and he was simply amazing. Super friendly, honest, and made such a stressful process 1000x easier. He also made sure to reassure me that if I have any problems or concerns with the work they did, to stop by or give him a call and they would make it right. I work in the auto parts field up here in Grand Rapids, and I have made sure to let co-workers know who is responsible for such an amazing repair job, as well as recommending you guys a million times over to friends, family, and customers.

Gerber was the first to come back with a quote and worked with my insurance company so I felt like I was able to sit back most of the time. Bianca in the office at Gerber was so communicative through out if I wanted updates. They even helped coordinate the rental car and its extension when I needed it. The car looks better than before the accident and we are so happy with the interactions we had and the care they took with our vehicle!
