General RV Service Introduce

For owners of recreational vehicles (RVs) across the United States, keeping their homes-on-wheels in top condition is paramount for safe and enjoyable travels. General RV Service stands as a premier "Auto Repair Station" uniquely dedicated to the intricate needs of motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and other RV types. Unlike a conventional car repair shop, General RV Service specializes in the complex interplay of a vehicle chassis, living quarters, and intricate onboard systems, making them an indispensable resource for the RV community.

Environment

The environment at a General RV Service center is distinctly different from a standard automotive garage. As one of the largest RV dealers in the nation, their service facilities are expansive, purpose-built, and designed to accommodate vehicles of all sizes, from compact travel trailers to large Class A motorhomes. Upon arrival, customers typically enter a clean, spacious reception area, often with a dedicated service desk and comfortable waiting lounges. The service bays themselves are exceptionally large, featuring specialized lifts, overhead cranes, and diagnostic equipment tailored for RVs. You'll find areas dedicated to chassis work, interior system repairs (plumbing, electrical, appliances), bodywork, and even slide-out mechanism repairs. The overall atmosphere is professional, organized, and geared towards handling complex RV issues with precision and care, reflecting the significant investment RV owners have in their vehicles. Many locations offer large parking areas for RVs, some with hookups for overnight stays, underscoring their understanding of the RV lifestyle.

General RV Service Customer Reviews

No point of having them winterizing it if you plan on dewinterizing it yourself. They won't stand behind their work. Too bad.

Hey first thing first. Ray you were awesome to deal with and I appreciate you. I appreciate getting the slideout replaced and what you did for me. Your a salesman and you did what you did to make us happy. Besides Ray there is nothing else to say anything good about. I've had 3 campers from general rv in Mt clemens, clarkston and birch run and they all had some degree of major issues and this recent one I bought for 35k used topped the cake when you go camping first time in it and almost fall through the wet out slideout that was in it. General rv made it right and literally replaced the roof and floor with new. But it's not the point of this review. Even my last one I took it here and they almost wanted 1000 to fix a 35 dollar thermostat. I can't speak for other places to buy but sadly I would not buy used here. The thing I learned is if you buy used here you need to excuse the VIP person out of your way and check ever nook and cranny in the camper. From the 8 different issues I had in this camper (bed slideout not working, loose lights, things not clipped in right all things that a normal tech would fine) at pick up and one major thing a week after pick up I truly do not believe they do any kind of inspection. And so far this goes with the 3 different campers I had from them at 3 different locations. For the invest you make on these your first excuse shouldn't be (oh it's used) it's like selling a used car with a check engine light and saying (oh it's used) when you are spending 30-60k and it shouldn't matter. I would see Ray if I was to buy and bring someone with you that knows their campers when you do the vip experience because from my past 5 years dealing with them they don't fix things unless you point it out.

I neede a repair of a wheel well area that was damaged by a tire blow out and to have the airconditioner repair. I took it in Oct. 2021. They kept me up to date on what they were doing, service was good up to that point. Because the temperature had to be above a certain point I was able to keep my 5th wheel there until 4/1/22. The trim piece was short, they filled the gaps at both ends with clear caulk. I was told that was the length that was sent to them. Our first trip we took I saw the wheel well they installed flapping. I discovered the screw to hold the flap in place was stripped out, also while looking under the wheel well the protective covering for the flooring plywood was missing a section. I took our 5th whell back in. A supervisor came out. He agreed the trim piece was cut too short, did not come in that way. He saw the missing protective covering and said they would call my insurance company to tell them they missed that. They also said they would also fix the stripped out screw but it would be awhile. He said they would call me when they get the material in. About 4 months later I called to ask what was taking so lond. The lady said she would have to look into it and call me back. I didn't get that call back so I called back. The lady said the material came in but they couldn't find it and would reorder. I called back in September or October of 2022. The lady said she would have to check to see if they received it and would call me back but she was busy so if I didn't hear from her to call her back the next day. I told her no I was done calling them that she needed to call me. In April 2023 I called and asked for the service manager. I had to leave a message. I didn't receive a call back. Tried a couple more times and no call back. They were very nice at the beginning but after they got their money customer service was non existance. To this date 8/2/23 my 5th wheel still is not fixed. All I can say is BEWARE.
