Expressway Mechanic on Duty Introduce
Welcome to Expressway Mechanic on Duty, an auto repair shop located in Toledo, Ohio, at 4002 Lagrange St, Toledo, OH 43612, USA. As a member of the Auto Repair Stations category, Expressway Mechanic on Duty aims to provide various automotive repair and maintenance services to the local community. This introduction seeks to offer an objective overview of the potential services and customer experiences based on the available online reviews.
Expressway Mechanic on Duty appears to offer a range of auto repair services, catering to different needs of vehicle owners. Based on the customer reviews, these services include, but may not be limited to:
- Brake Repair: Addressing issues with the braking system, such as worn pads, rotors, calipers, and brake lines. This is a critical safety aspect of vehicle maintenance.
- Engine Rebuilds: A more extensive service involving the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of an engine with new or reconditioned parts to restore its performance and reliability.
- Suspension Work: Addressing issues with the vehicle's suspension system, which affects ride comfort and handling. This may include repairs or replacements of shocks, struts, springs, and other suspension components.
- Installation of Aftermarket Parts: As indicated in one review, they may offer installation services for customer-supplied aftermarket parts, such as suspension lift kits.
- Fabrication and Welding: The mention of fabricating and welding a front body core support suggests that they may have the capabilities for custom metalwork and structural repairs.
- General Miscellaneous Repairs: The reviews allude to other unspecified repairs undertaken by the shop.
Details about the environment of Expressway Mechanic on Duty are not explicitly provided in the reviews. Typically, an auto repair shop would have service bays equipped with the necessary tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment to perform various repairs. Customers might expect a waiting area, although the focus is primarily on the workshop where the repairs are carried out.
One customer review describes a positive experience with a rear brake problem: "We stopped in with a rear brake problem on our truck, Dan gave us a good price and got right to work. It took much longer to repair then estimated (so yours can too - they can only give you estimate, actual time depends on how the job goes - mine went with trouble, estimate was 2 hrs, it took them about 5hrs for a full rear brake overhaul on dulley truck, wich is not bad at all considering amount of work they have performed) They did a quality job for a fare price, would recommend them to friends and family, stop by and check them out!" This review highlights several aspects: a perceived fair price, prompt commencement of work, and acknowledgment that repair times can vary. The customer was satisfied with the quality of the work and would recommend the shop.
However, the second review presents a starkly contrasting and highly negative experience: "I’ve known Dave the owner for about 8 years and used the service with enough acceptable results to bring a large project to them. THAT was a large mistake on my part. My van needed the engine rebuilt & I wanted him to also install a high quality suspension/body lift kit (that I supplied from a highly rated aftermarket company in California), the project also included fabrication & welding of the front body core support & other miscellaneous parts & repairs. Dave gave me a rough estimate of “somewhere between $4000-$5000”. Knowing the scale & dynamics of such a project I agreed to his estimate & put a $1300 deposit down on the project. It sat untouched for the first couple of months, then, over the course of 1 year they finally began to dismantle my van &rebuild the engine. Exactly 14 months after my initial deposit- the rebuilt engine was finally installed & I asked him what the remaining balance of the project would be. Dave replied “$3500”. I agreed & paid him in full cash (that was my 2nd large mistake). He has since then became extremely irate & disrespectful & began to post lies and threats on social media. All I was asking for was for the project to be finished asap because it has gone on far too long. I insisted upon a completion date of 4/3/2021 & now I’m not allowed in the shop & don’t know if they will fulfill their obligations, nor will Dave return my calls or text messages. In addition to this review- I will be reporting Dave to the BBB & might have to take him to small claims court over this mess. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS BUSINESS FOR ANYTHING!!! I hope to have my van back in one piece & running properly by the due date. Hopefully they haven’t sabotaged anything either."
This detailed negative review raises serious concerns about project management, communication, timelines, and customer service at Expressway Mechanic on Duty. Key issues highlighted include: significant delays in project commencement and completion (14 months for an engine rebuild), a substantial project cost, allegations of irate and disrespectful behavior from the owner, lack of communication, being barred from the shop, and fears of unfulfilled obligations or even sabotage. The reviewer strongly advises against using this business.
Considering these two reviews, potential customers face a dilemma. One review suggests satisfactory service for a standard repair, while the other recounts a severely negative experience with a more complex project. This discrepancy indicates a potential variability in service quality or customer interaction, possibly depending on the scope and nature of the repair work.
Features of Expressway Mechanic on Duty could include their ability to handle a range of repairs, from basic brake work to more complex tasks like engine rebuilds and custom fabrication. The willingness to work on larger vehicles (as indicated by the "dulley truck" in the positive review) might also be a feature. However, the negative review casts a shadow on the reliability and customer service aspects of their operation, particularly for larger or longer-term projects.
The provided information does not contain any details about current promotional offers or discounts at Expressway Mechanic on Duty. Auto repair shops sometimes offer specials on common services like oil changes or seasonal maintenance packages. To inquire about any potential promotions, local users would need to contact Expressway Mechanic on Duty directly at the provided phone number: (419) 269-2030 or +1 419-269-2030.
In conclusion, Expressway Mechanic on Duty in Toledo, OH, as an Auto Repair Station, appears to offer a range of automotive services, including brake repairs, engine rebuilds, suspension work, and potentially custom fabrication. While one customer reported a positive experience with brake service, another detailed a severely negative experience involving a lengthy and costly engine rebuild project plagued by delays, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior. This contrasting feedback suggests that potential customers should exercise caution and consider these experiences when deciding whether to use Expressway Mechanic on Duty for their auto repair needs. It would be prudent to seek additional reviews or perhaps contact the shop directly to discuss specific repair requirements and expectations. Information regarding any current promotions is not available in the provided text, and interested parties would need to inquire directly with the shop.

I called to find out if he can come to my home and fix my car (replace the starter). Found out he isn't a mobile mechanic. I decided to use his service anyway by driving over to his shop and have him fix it next day and a fair price at that!. He said he'd have it done by 530 PM next day. I dropped it off in the early morning and left them alone until about 5PM to call and find out if he is done replacing the starter. No awnser. I went ahead and drove to the shop to find out it is done but did not replace the starter like I requested. He took it upon himself to say he fixed my battery cable and that they were too loose and figured he'd did save me money. No he did not save me money. He wasted my time. My starter needed fixed not the battery and didn't even call me to inform me about his wonderful discovery. Granted I see his view but still failed to replace the starter like I needed to. Car did start fine before and never had issue. Just recently had a car fire and found out a piece of metal from my suspension job previously rolled between frame and wires of the starter and caused it to smoke really bad and the car was inoperable. Even had emergency crews come out just in case the car became engulfed in flames. Don't expect this mechanic to do you a solid by letting you know first. He'll wait until end of the day to let you know he's awesome and thinks he's the best at what he does when in reality he just completely ignored your request at what you wanted done. 1 star for trying bud. But you wasted my time and gas money. Keeps texting back with bad comments on why I was angry at the time. Good owner arguing with his customers.

They charged me 600$ and DID NOT FIX MY CAR! They took what I told them what I thought could be wrong with my car didn't even TEST DRIVE PUT ON THE MACHINE or CHECK FOR THEMSELVES they just took it upon themselves to replace the original screws on the thing I thought was the problem. It took 5 MONTHS! FROM JULY TILL NOVEMBER and it still wasn't fixed! It's in my driveway. Not moving. Oh BUT ITS NOT LOUD that's what they said 600$ later..... My dad paid for it. And he got screwed over. I told the manager Dave my issue with his mechanic. His RESPONSE WAS .... WE DID WHAT YOU SAID WAS WRONG! Ok.... I'm NOT the PROFESSIONAL

Great guy! Very friendly, helpful, and great prices compared to all these other chain mechanic shops out here! This is the only place my family and I take our cars!
