Phenomenal auto shop. The owner was kind, honest, personable and fixed my car quickly at a very fair price. As a woman he made me feel incredibly safe. If you need a mechanic you can trust he’s your guy. I can’t recommend him enough!

Ellwood has been taking care of my family’s vehicles for as long as I can remember. These are some honestly great mechanics who don’t treat you like you know nothing and at the same time explain things thoroughly and honestly. I’ve lived all over and different mechanics have their flavors but Ellwood takes the cake. They take care with the simplest things, I swear their alignments are somehow better than the other ones I’ve had 😂 I almost didn’t leave a review just so it’s easier for me to get an appointment

Friendliness does not override blatant dishonesty and abusive behavior! Joe took 3 calls from me to check my car's steering rack under warranty on the job they performed. He did not return my first or third call. He also picked up the phone on the second call never asking my name, had no warmth of tone and had my information pulled up it was off putting. Ignoring this I reiterated my question about how long I was under warranty and made an appointment to get the steering recheck. He said they close at 5 and it would take an hour and asked when I wanted to come, I asked for a 2pm spot. He raised his voice and said he would need time to look at it. I said what time do you need me to come? He continued to argue with me about needing time. I reiterated what time do you need me to come. He said 1pm. OK 1pm. I had a medical emergency and needed to reschedule, leaving a message he did not return my call to reschedule, I addressed this he vaguely addressed it. All seemed fine again, ok he had had a bad day. Then when I arrived today, first my appointment was at one, by two-ish they started. I told him my steering had give, I was told fluid leaking during an oil change was told to me could not be confirmed as oil or steering fluid, and I had a four inch circle of fluid around the steering cap. He drove it told me it pulled dramatically to the side and was going to put it on the lift to do the warranty check Joe asked me if I wanted to come back and explained an overview of whether there was leakage of the steering and explained it looked good and other suggestions for jobs to do re the pulling. Upon leaving, he told me he would waive the 45 dollar fee usually charged with such a similar job to an oil change having the car had been lifted to look under it. He said I had brought up fluids and expected extra work. He lied and continued to. I said hold on help me understand is your policy that if someone comes in with a part with disrepair symptoms under warranty that you do the warranty recheck and if the part in question turns out not being in need of repair that you charge them for the appointment. He said Yes. I probed further saying ok this is important for me to know if I choose to continue to do business with you, you are saying that if someone comes in with a fix that you repaired that is still under warranty for a recheck with symptoms of disrepair potentially that if you find it is not the warrantied fix in question you charge for the recheck 40-45 dollars. He said yes most places charge to have a car looked over, I said I did not ask for my car to be looked over if a new charge on top of the warranty recheck requested was being assumed you must tell me before you proceed with extra work what extra charge I am accepting. I reiterated agAin. So again, I need to know this information to decide if I will be doing business with you in the future, you are saying again that a fix or part paid for at Ellwood Automotive that is under warranty if it is to be checked during that warranty period for suspected failure, that if it turns out in good repair the client is charged 40-45 dollars for the warranty check appointment because that part or fix turns out still holding? And you are telling me you're doing me a favor by "waiving" a fee and saying I asked for more work when in documentation you wrote down my appointment request as I entered?? He eventually said no they don't charge for warranty recheck for any reason regardless of the check outcome, he lied to me to shame me into not getting the warranty recheck I have a signed receipt paying for service with. It was really disgusting. Watch out it was very aggressive and bizarrely ongoing targeted harm done trying to not let me get the warranty rights.

The job was done well! However, my car had been ransacked onto their property lot. They didn't have video surveillance in the lot. They eventually notified me when I had reached out to them through the phone. They mentioned that the assailant was able to get into the car during the afternoon. This event happened when the job had been completed. Hearing this, it tells me they failed to lock my car when they left it in the lot. Overall, my socket set and map gas tank.
