Detroit Radiator Corporation Introduce
Detroit Radiator Corporation, located at 26111 Northline Rd, Taylor, MI 48180, USA, functions within the broader "Auto Repair Stations" category, although its primary business appears to be the supply and potential manufacture of cooling system components rather than general vehicle repair services. They can be reached via phone at (800) 525-0011 or +1 800-525-0011. This entity focuses on heavy-duty applications, catering to trucks, agricultural equipment, lift trucks, buses, and motor homes, providing various products crucial for heat transfer and climate control in these large vehicles.
As a supplier and manufacturer of cooling systems, Detroit Radiator Corporation's environment would typically encompass manufacturing facilities, warehouses for inventory, and administrative offices. Their website indicates a focus on producing radiator cores and complete cooling systems for industrial applications, suggesting a significant operational footprint related to fabrication, assembly, and distribution. While specific details about their retail or service environment are not prominently featured, their direct interaction with customers for orders and inquiries implies a sales and customer service department. Their business model is likely oriented towards supplying parts to other repair shops, fleet operators, and potentially individual mechanics or vehicle owners seeking specialized components rather than offering on-site repair services for general public vehicles.
Detroit Radiator Corporation specializes in heat transfer products for heavy-duty vehicles. Their product catalog, accessible online, suggests a wide array of components for cooling systems. Key offerings include:
- Radiators: A primary product line, including heavy-duty truck radiators, designed to replace OEM plastic/aluminum radiators with more durable solutions like their POWERCOOL® radiators, which claim a longer lifespan. They cater to various manufacturers such as Mack, Kenworth, Volvo, Freightliner, and International Harvester.
- Radiator Cores: As a significant core manufacturer, they provide individual cores for various industrial applications, suggesting they may also rebuild radiators.
- Charge Air Coolers (CACs): Essential components for turbocharged engines, designed to cool compressed air before it enters the engine, thus improving efficiency. They offer products like Powermax™ charge air coolers.
- A/C Products: Including condensers, compressors, driers/accumulators, evaporators, and miscellaneous A/C parts.
- Radiator Tanks and Parts: Providing individual components for radiator repair and customization.
- Surge Tanks: Crucial for maintaining proper coolant levels and pressure in cooling systems.
- Coolant Tubes, Fan Shrouds & Silicone Hoses: Additional accessories and components for comprehensive cooling system maintenance.
Their services extend beyond just sales, reportedly including warranty support for their products and potentially technical assistance for product application and selection, as indicated by their online resources like "Instant Tech Support" and "Application Lookup." They emphasize their manufacturing capabilities and engineering expertise in producing high-quality cores.
Based on the provided customer feedback, Detroit Radiator Corporation exhibits some concerning features in its customer interaction and product support:
- Communication Challenges: One customer explicitly reports significant difficulty in communication after payment, stating that calls are transferred to an accounting department that doesn't answer or return calls, and emails go unanswered. This suggests a potential breakdown in customer support post-purchase.
- Product and Warranty Concerns: Another customer highlights issues with product warranty, stating the company "doesn't stand by their warranty" for a leaking radiator that was still under warranty. The company's alleged refusal to honor the warranty due to a third-party shop's involvement, followed by an offer to sell a "junk" replacement at a discount, raises significant questions about their commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction. This customer also noted a previous positive review had been deleted, implying a potential management of online reputation.
- Perception of Business Practices: The reviews collectively paint a picture of a company where customers have experienced substantial frustration, leading to strong warnings against doing business with them. Terms like "scam" and "cheap company who doesn't stand behind their products" are used, indicating a severe erosion of trust. The mention of having "three addresses but the salesman say the building he is in doesn't have an address" could suggest organizational or transparency issues from a customer's perspective.
Conversely, the company's online presence, including information about their POWERCOOL® radiators and claims of improving MPG due to better cooling, suggest that they aim to position themselves as an innovator in heavy-duty cooling solutions. They mention being featured on shows like "Motorhead Garage" and producing videos about their products, which implies an effort to build a reputable brand image. However, this positive self-portrayal directly conflicts with the negative experiences reported by customers regarding core business practices like order fulfillment and warranty adherence.
Detroit Radiator Corporation's own promotional materials focus on the technical superiority and economic benefits of their products, such as the POWERCOOL® radiators being more durable and leading to better fuel efficiency for heavy-duty trucks. They highlight their role as a leading manufacturer in the heavy-duty heat transfer industry and their continuous exploration of state-of-the-art equipment and metals. They also claim to offer "100% money back guarantee" on products for next-day delivery via FedEx, suggesting a commitment to convenience and customer satisfaction. However, these promotional claims are severely undermined by the highly critical customer reviews provided. These reviews, which are very strong and direct, constitute a significant portion of the public perception available online. They act as a stern warning to potential customers about alleged issues with order fulfillment, warranty claims, and overall customer support. For local users and businesses considering Detroit Radiator Corporation, these conflicting narratives necessitate a careful evaluation of their services and products. The company's success relies on their stated commitment to quality products and service, but the highly negative feedback should be a significant consideration for any potential business engagement, as it directly impacts their standing within the "Auto Repair Stations" category as a supplier of critical vehicle components.

DO NOT SEND THIS COMPANY ANY MONEY!! placed an order and paid in full November 2024. It's now march 2025 and haven't received shipment. The scam is, they answer the phone and tell you to talk to accounting, accounting dosen't answer so you leave a message and they don't call back. They don't reply to emails. They have three addresses but the salesman say the building he is in dosen't have an address. So, he takes orders ,money and transfers calls to an answering machine. It's a dead end with no help from them.

Back in the days was good radiator company to do business with. This days they just looking for the reason not to stand by their warranty. I had leak from welded place tank and top cover of radiator, try to get it fixed in the shop but crac was deep under the tank, called Detroit radiator to see if they going to work with me, but best they could come up was that they can't warranty after shop was involved, and they try to sell me another one of their junk for discounted price. I was repeat costumer left nice review years ago which been deleted this time. I told the rep.. no more business with the cheap company who doesn't stand behind their products. Go somewhere else, DO NOT bring them any business. Should go down. American way.

The owner is complete scum, does not pay his bills. If you owe this guy money don't bother paying him, he thinks that's fine. Also Jason who runs the office will run cover. Completely untrustworthy company. Frauds. Belong in prison.
