Dave's Auto Repair Introduce
Located at 3913 Smithville Rd, Harrisville, WV 26362, USA, Dave's Auto Repair operates within the "Auto Repair Stations" category, offering a range of automotive services to local users. They can be reached via phone at (304) 643-2337 or mobile at +1 304-643-2337. As an auto repair station, their primary function is to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles. Based on available customer reviews, there are varying perspectives on the quality and scope of their services, providing a nuanced view of what customers can expect.
Information regarding the physical environment of Dave's Auto Repair is limited in the provided reviews. However, the feedback from customers gives an indication of the operational atmosphere. One reviewer describes it as a "wonderful business," suggesting a generally positive and professional setting where work is "get done fast." This implies an efficient and perhaps straightforward approach to service. On the other hand, the detailed negative review, while not directly addressing the aesthetics of the shop, alludes to a potentially rushed or less meticulous environment, given the reported issues with the quality of work. The contrasting feedback suggests that customer experience may vary, influencing the perceived atmosphere of the shop.
As an "Auto Repair Station," Dave's Auto Repair offers a variety of services typically found in such establishments. Based on the customer reviews, their services appear to include:
- General Vehicle Repairs: One customer mentioned having a "new motor" put in their car, indicating they handle significant mechanical work, including engine replacements.
- Vehicle Inspections: One reviewer explicitly states they "would not recommend this shop for anything other than an inspection." This suggests that inspections are a standard service offered, and potentially one they are deemed reliable for.
- Tire Services: Similarly, the same reviewer also mentioned "tires" as a service they might recommend, implying they handle tire mounting, balancing, or replacement.
- Fluid Services: The complaint about the car "leaking coolant" suggests that fluid system checks and repairs would fall under their purview.
- AC Line Work: The mention of "AC lines were not connect" indicates they perform work on air conditioning systems.
- Minor Body/Undercarriage Issues: The unfortunate incident with the car being dented and paint cracked on the side skirts due to lift mishandling suggests they would also handle minor body imperfections, even if self-inflicted.
While the reviews don't list specific "goods for sale" like a retail parts store, an auto repair station like Dave's would naturally source and install necessary parts for the repairs they conduct. These would include replacement engines, AC components, various bolts and brackets, and potentially tires, among other automotive parts integral to their repair services.
The features and specialties of Dave's Auto Repair, as depicted by the customer feedback, present a mixed picture:
- Speed of Service: A consistent theme across both reviews is the speed at which work is completed. One praises "get done fast," while the other notes, "He is quick." This suggests that efficiency and minimizing vehicle downtime for customers is a strong operational characteristic.
- Fair Pricing: The negative review acknowledges that the "price is fair," indicating that their service costs are competitive and reasonable, which is a significant factor for many customers.
- Variable Quality of Work: This is the most contested feature. One review states "Do good work," while the other directly contrasts this, asserting, "I have never been happy with the quality of work," detailing multiple critical errors such as disconnected AC lines, missing bolts, leaking coolant, and significant body damage from improper lift use. This discrepancy is crucial for potential customers to consider.
- Potential for Communication Gaps or Oversight: The list of issues after an engine replacement, including missing parts and fluid leaks, points to a potential lack of thoroughness or a breakdown in quality control during complex repairs. The damage to the vehicle's body also suggests a need for more careful handling.
Given the direct feedback, it appears that while Dave's Auto Repair might be a viable option for quick, less complex services like inspections or tire work due to their speed and fair pricing, customers should exercise caution or inquire more deeply when considering major mechanical repairs, such as engine replacement, due to reported quality issues. Their specialty seems to lie in rapid turnaround and affordable rates, but the consistency of quality for more intricate jobs is questioned by at least one detailed account.
There is no explicit promotional information provided in the given text, such as discounts or special offers. However, the customer reviews themselves act as a form of promotion, both positive and negative, that local users would rely upon. The positive review, "Highly read this place," serves as a direct recommendation. This type of endorsement is powerful for attracting new business.
Conversely, the detailed negative review serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting potential risks associated with more extensive repairs. For local users, this review implicitly promotes a more cautious approach, suggesting that while the business might be suitable for simpler services where speed and price are paramount, it may not be the optimal choice for complex and critical repairs that demand meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive quality control. The information collectively suggests that Dave's Auto Repair is a local option known for being quick and affordable, but potential customers should weigh these benefits against the reported concerns about the quality of workmanship, particularly for significant vehicle repairs.

I have used this shop multiple times. I have never been happy with the quality of work. He is quick and price is fair, but the quality is poor. I had him put a new motor in my car and there is a list of issues. My ac lines were not connect, missing bolts on several brackets for ac lines, the bracket for the down pipe on the car is completely missing, and it’s now leaking coolant because those brackets were also not connected. On top of this head ache when he put the car on the lift he didn’t adjust it to clear the body of the car, so both side of the side skirts are dented and the paint is cracked. I would not recommend this shop for anything other than an inspection and tires

We were in town traveling from Virginia and our water pump went out unexpectedly. Had family send us to one guy who was trying to charge me 400, not including the part. Dave was able to get it fixed up for just around 200, was able to have NAPA deliver the part first thing the next morning and had us back on the road by noon the next day. Very wonderful people with excellent service and very fair prices! Wish they were located in my home town so they could be my main auto repair shop. 10/10 Highly Recommend!!

We took my 2015 Nissan Juke to Dave and said "Fix everything that needs fixed," He knew we wouldn't quibble over a $50 part but wanted kept in the loop. My 8 year old car with 147,000 miles drives like it is new and we didn't get taken advantage of with prices either. This is my go-to pla e when it is needed. Honest and dependable!!

Took my truck in for inspection, and learned I needed new tires(not surprised). Dave offered 4 new tires at a reasonable cost, ordered them, and had them installed 2 days later with a 75 min wait time. Thanks again Dave!
