Crankshaft Craftsmen

I'm an Engine Builder who used this place twice, and i'm noticing the great reviews people are leaving. I'm just wondering if these are people that this place are personally acquainted with, or people of more importance. My experience is completely different than what everyone else is saying. My first Crankshaft I dropped off it took me close to a month to receive back and there was not enough material removed from it. Keep in mind that I have to travel over an hour there and an hour back each time so I had to take it back which they ended up taking off another .001 inch. So I said no big deal, and did another rebuild dropping off another Crankshaft. I was told that it may have to be welded and straitened so I went along with it. Again it took a while to get back but this time, during preparation for install, I noticed a crack in the treated area so I called Nick and sent him the photos (one of them is attached), and he told me that I could bring it back and they'll fix it. I didn't want to take another chance so I decided to order a new one through them where they changed the price 3 times on me, so I told him if I went along with the new one could they at least pay something on it. He told me he had to check with the boss (scratching my head), and when he responded he told me that they didn't fully charge me for the welded area so they could only help me out with the bare minimum. He's not knowing that I remember the first price he quoted me so they wouldn't lose anything. So when I told him I wanted to buy from another place and if he could at least refund me on $50 to help with that, he told me again that they didn't charge me fully. But I own a business, and will never ever charge my Customer for something that I messed up! I only asked for $50 on another part since they messed up my customer's Crank, and he said he would get back with me. Well it has been 3 weeks, and I haven't heard a word from him. So I had to buy another Crankshaft for my customer because it's costing me more to do the back and forth which I tried to explain to Nick but they are unwilling to make this right or understand business. I pray that no one else experiences this and that every business that operates in this manner cease to be successful or prosperous. I've noticed this more and more where businesses blame customers for their own mess. Please be careful when dealing with this place, and be vigilante. It seems to be a lower cost, but it isn't. Your time is worth more!

First machine shop I went to couldn’t balance my rotating, took it to these guys they are cool and had it done quick, will be returning for future projects

Awesome folks here. They have done a bunch of work for me and sold me lots of parts. They routinely go above and beyond my expectations, I highly recommend.

Used this shop in the past in 2015 was extremely satisfied of the workmanship on the crankshaft grind. Recently with all the craziness happening I dropped off a rotating assembly (May 6) to get balanced minus the pistons since that was on back order just to have a spot to be next to avoid waiting long term. June 24 pistons were dropped off and placed next to my other stuff. Called a week later to see if they touched it and was told next week, called again the following week was told the same thing. So after waiting two weeks. I decided to stop by the shop and see if my stuff had even been moved or worked on and it was still in the same spot. I spoke with the manager about the issue. He was understandable, I was basically told in my own words that if you don't have a contract or not a regular good luck, we will get to it when we can. "I dont wanna hurt your feelings" What's the point in offering a service to the public when you clearly have contracts that keep you busy enough and regulars. Ended up taking it elsewhere with a two week turnaround.

Dropped a crankshaft off that had spun a bearing, thinking I needed to get the journal welded. They called me the next day and said they could clean it up with only a polish. I appreciated the honesty and was super happy with the repair
