Chevrolet of Ottawa Auto Repair & Service Introduce
Chevrolet of Ottawa Auto Repair & Service, located at 1420 N Perry St, Ottawa, OH 45875, USA, functions as a full-service "Auto Repair Station" operating as the service department of a franchised Chevrolet dealership. With contact numbers (419) 523-5441 and a mobile option at +1 419-523-5441, this facility is specifically equipped and staffed to provide expert maintenance and repair services for Chevrolet vehicles, and often other GM makes, in the Ottawa area. As an authorized dealership service center, it adheres to manufacturer standards and utilizes specialized resources.
As part of a new car dealership, Chevrolet of Ottawa's Auto Repair & Service center typically offers a modern, clean, and well-organized environment. The service bays are equipped with specialized tools and diagnostic equipment designed for Chevrolet vehicles. The waiting area for customers usually provides amenities such as comfortable seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, often refreshments (coffee, water), and sometimes even a quiet room or kid's play area, as indicated by information from similar GM dealerships. This setup aims to provide a comfortable and convenient experience for customers while their vehicles are being serviced.
The facility would also include a parts department that stocks genuine GM parts, ensuring that repairs are performed with components designed specifically for Chevrolet vehicles. The location on N Perry St provides good accessibility within Ottawa, making it a convenient option for local residents.
Chevrolet of Ottawa's Auto Repair & Service offers a comprehensive range of maintenance and repair services, primarily for Chevrolet vehicles, leveraging their status as a factory-authorized service center. Their offerings include:
- Factory Scheduled Maintenance: Adherence to Chevrolet's recommended service intervals for optimal vehicle performance and longevity.
- Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection: A thorough check of key vehicle components, including tires, wiper blades, fluid levels, brakes, and battery.
- Engine Diagnostics and Repair: Advanced diagnostic capabilities to pinpoint issues indicated by the check engine light, and subsequent repairs ranging from minor adjustments to more complex engine work.
- Brake Service: Inspection, repair, and replacement of brake pads, rotors, calipers, and fluid. The customer reviews specifically mention brake problems, indicating this is a common service.
- Oil Changes: Routine oil and filter changes using recommended oils (e.g., ACDelco GM OE dexos1® Full Synthetic Oil, Mobil 1® Full Synthetic Oil).
- Tire Services: Tire sales, mounting, balancing, rotation, and repair.
- Battery Service: Testing, sales, and installation of ACDelco batteries.
- Transmission Repair and Service: Maintenance and repair of automatic and manual transmissions.
- Steering and Suspension Repair: Addressing issues with shocks, struts, alignment, and other steering and suspension components.
- Heating and Cooling System Service: Diagnosis and repair of vehicle climate control systems.
- Electrical System Service: Troubleshooting and repair of various electrical issues.
- Genuine GM Parts: Use of original equipment (OE) parts designed specifically for Chevrolet vehicles, ensuring compatibility and quality.
While they strive to provide comprehensive service, the customer reviews highlight a point of concern regarding diagnostic charges. One customer, experiencing brake light issues, was quoted an $88 diagnostic fee to determine if the problem was covered under a safety code, despite the obvious safety implications of faulty brake lights. This indicates that diagnostic charges are a standard practice, and coverage under warranty or safety recalls requires a prior assessment.
Several features distinguish Chevrolet of Ottawa Auto Repair & Service as a certified dealership service center:
- GM Certified Technicians: Their technicians are factory-trained and certified by General Motors, ensuring they have specialized knowledge and access to the latest technical information and tools for Chevrolet vehicles. This often translates to precise diagnostics and high-quality repairs.
- Genuine GM Parts: The use of genuine GM parts guarantees that replacement components meet the manufacturer's specifications for fit, function, and durability, which can be crucial for maintaining vehicle warranty and performance.
- Manufacturer-Specific Expertise: Unlike independent shops that service all makes, a dealership service center has in-depth expertise in Chevrolet's specific models, systems, and common issues.
- Warranty Work: They are authorized to perform warranty repairs and recall services, which is a significant advantage for owners of newer Chevrolet vehicles.
- Customer Amenities: As part of a dealership, they typically offer a comfortable waiting area with various amenities, aiming to make the service experience more pleasant.
However, the provided customer reviews present a challenge regarding customer perception and communication, particularly concerning diagnostic fees and the perceived clarity around "safety hazards" and warranty coverage. The repeated complaint about the $88 diagnostic charge for a brake light issue that the customer clearly identified as a safety concern points to a potential area for improvement in customer education and empathy regarding service processes and charges. This is a common pain point for customers at dealerships, where diagnostic fees are standard practice, but clear communication about their necessity and potential for coverage is vital. Other reviews for the broader dealership (which includes sales) indicate overall high satisfaction with sales and positive feedback on service, mentioning "professional staff; clean shop and waiting area; no excessive waiting time. Excellent service." and good communication. This suggests that while there are individual pain points, the general service quality can be high.
Chevrolet of Ottawa's Auto Repair & Service, like other Chevrolet dealerships, frequently offers various promotions and service specials to attract and retain customers. These are often aligned with national GM service campaigns and local dealership initiatives. Common promotions include:
- Service Coupons and Deals: Regular specials on routine maintenance services such as oil changes (e.g., specific pricing for 6-quart or 8-quart synthetic blends or full synthetic oil changes), tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Tire Price Match Guarantee: Many GM dealerships offer to match or beat competitor prices on eligible tire brands, and sometimes provide rebates or "Buy 3, Get 1 for $1" promotions on select tires.
- Parts and Labor Rebates: Offers such as rebates on the purchase and installation of select brake pads, shocks, and struts, often tied to GM Genuine Parts or ACDelco brands.
- Multi-Point Inspection Offers: Complimentary or discounted multi-point inspections as part of a service visit.
- GM Rewards Program: Customers can often earn and redeem points towards eligible services, parts, and accessories through GM's loyalty program.
- Online Service Scheduling: While not a promotion in itself, the convenience of scheduling service appointments online or through a mobile app is a key feature that makes the process easier for customers.
Customers are encouraged to visit the official Chevrolet of Ottawa website's service section or contact the service department directly at (419) 523-5441 to inquire about current service specials, available rebates, and to schedule appointments. By leveraging these promotions and the expertise of certified technicians, Chevrolet of Ottawa aims to provide value and reliable service for Chevrolet vehicle owners in the Ottawa, OH, area.

My car 2010 Chevy Malibu has problems with the brakes the brake lights stay on when I'm not applying them and go off when I apply the brakes. The mechanic said he doesn't know if this is covered under a safety code I have to pay $88 for a diagnostic check to find out if it's covered if it's not a safety hazard what the hell is it.

Got charged for a tire rotation when it clearly states it is included with an oil change. Was told the vehicle inspection was covered but not tire rotation. After some arguing and not having the correct parts in stock, I’m never going back and they are now $20 richer from me. Horrible dealer, highly advise to never go here.
