Services

While specific comprehensive service lists are not provided in the prompt, the customer reviews indicate that Certified Auto and Transmission offers the following types of automotive repair services:

  • Transmission Services: One review specifically mentions a "gasket change" for a torque converter, indicating that the shop handles transmission-related repairs. The business name itself, "Certified Auto and Transmission," further emphasizes this specialization.
  • Cooling System Repair: A customer noted an attempt to fix a "cooling leak" to address an overheating issue, suggesting services related to the vehicle's cooling system (e.g., radiator, hoses, water pump).
  • Engine Diagnostics and Replacement: One review describes being told a "new engine" was needed, implying that the shop performs engine diagnostics and potentially offers engine replacement services. However, the customer later stated another shop confirmed an engine replacement was not necessary, raising questions about the accuracy of the initial diagnosis.
  • Towing Services: It was mentioned that towing was offered as "free with any work," implying that the shop provides or arranges towing for vehicles requiring repair. However, a customer reported being charged for towing when a major repair (engine replacement) was not performed.

Features

Based solely on the provided information, the features of Certified Auto and Transmission, particularly from a customer experience perspective, appear to be:

  • Specialization in Transmissions: The business name strongly suggests an expertise in transmission repair, which can be a valuable feature for vehicles experiencing transmission-specific problems.
  • Diagnostic Capabilities: The shop evidently performs diagnostic assessments to identify vehicle issues, as seen in the reported cooling system and engine diagnoses.
  • Towing Service Offer: The offer of free towing with work performed is a potential feature, though its execution has been a point of contention for at least one customer.

However, the provided customer reviews highlight significant negative features related to business practices and service quality:

  • Inaccurate Diagnoses/Unnecessary Repairs: A customer reported being told they needed a new engine which another shop contradicted, suggesting potentially unnecessary repair recommendations.
  • Price Discrepancies and Changes: Customers experienced quotes changing to higher prices after initial discussions, leading to dissatisfaction.
  • Allegations of Negligence/Damage: One severe complaint claims the shop damaged a torque converter during a gasket change, leading to significantly increased costs and accusations of negligence.
  • Unresolved Issues: A customer stated that a "cooling leak" repair did not resolve the overheating problem, indicating a failure to properly fix the issue.
  • Misleading Towing Policy: The "free towing with any work" policy was reportedly not honored if the "big job" (engine replacement) wasn't pursued, leading to unexpected towing charges.
  • Gender Bias Claims: One review alleges that the shop "try to play women," suggesting issues with fairness and transparency in dealing with female customers.

These recurring themes in the negative feedback are critical features of the customer experience at this establishment, as reported by individuals who have utilized their services.

Promotional Information

Based on the provided information, the only explicitly mentioned promotional information is the offer of "free towing with any work." However, as noted in the customer reviews, the application of this promotion has been a point of contention, with a customer being charged for towing despite bringing their vehicle in for work. Beyond this, no other specific promotional offers, discounts, loyalty programs, or advertising efforts are detailed in the provided data.

In summary, Certified Auto and Transmission at 1006 Calumet Ave, Valparaiso, IN, presents itself as an automotive repair station with a focus on transmission services, alongside general auto repair including cooling system and engine diagnostics. While contact information is available for customer inquiries, the overwhelming sentiment from the provided customer reviews is highly negative. These reviews raise serious concerns about the accuracy of diagnoses, transparency in pricing, quality of repairs, and adherence to promotional offers. Prospective customers should be aware of these reported issues and consider them carefully when evaluating this service provider for their automotive repair needs.

Hello everyone my experience with this shop was so damn horrible. Yes they do lie and try to play women… I told one thing over the phone and than changed a couple days later to a higher price. They charge me for something and told me it’s still over heat so he didn’t fix it properly and I told him that’s not fixing the problem. Not to mention he told me the towing was free with any work but since I couldn’t afford a used engine i had to pay for the tow just because I didn’t get the big job done. So I paid for you to fix a cooling leak but it’s still overheat don’t make no sense. Also they told me I needed a new engine but I didn’t another shop told me I did not need an engine they couldn’t just fix the problem trying to get more money from me.

I waited to post a review due to i wanted to see how long my trans would last after taking to be repaired, and here i am. I brought my 2011 acura mdx here multiple times in the months of September &October 2019 since it wasn't fixed correctly, it was originally to repair only my torque converter for $300. Once they had my car they looked into the problem which involved them cracking my trans case which turned into forcing me to purchase a new/rebuilt trans from them $4000. They switched my trans three different times for bad leaks or hard shifting, just bad work, here are some pics, notice the rtv around the trans and all pictures are from different transmissions and dates. Just over a year later, with not many more miles since i don't drive it as much, and my transmission needs to be repaired/replaced again. which is convenient since they only offer a one year warranty on their work even on a new/rebuilt trans. I honestly try to support small especially local businesses, but I wish i would've just took it to the dealer... edited to add pics
