Cannon's Automotive Service+ Introduce

Cannon's Automotive Service+, located at 909 Boyd Blvd, La Porte, IN 46350, USA, operates as an Auto Repair Station providing various services and goods for sale related to vehicle maintenance and repair. The establishment can be reached at (219) 362-2728 or via mobile at +1 219-362-2728. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on available information, including customer feedback.

Regarding the environment at Cannon's Automotive Service+, public information does not offer specific details about the waiting area, repair bays, or overall facility aesthetics. As an auto repair station, one would expect a functional garage setup designed for vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs. The atmosphere, as suggested by customer reviews, may be influenced by the practices under the current ownership. One review mentions the car "smelled of cigarette smoke" upon pickup, which could impact a customer's perception of the cleanliness and professional environment. Generally, auto repair shops aim to maintain a professional and clean environment to ensure customer comfort and confidence in the quality of work performed. The efficiency and organization of the shop floor would directly impact service times and overall customer experience.

As an Auto Repair Station, Cannon's Automotive Service+ offers a range of services designed to address common vehicle issues and maintenance needs. Based on the customer reviews, these services include, but are not limited to, **vehicle diagnostics** (indicated by a "Scan tool fee"), and **brake services**, encompassing the replacement of calipers, rotors, and pads. The reviews imply a capacity to perform general car repairs, as customers sought their services for various "car repair needs." While a comprehensive list of all services is not provided, typical offerings at an auto repair station would also involve oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, suspension work, and potentially more complex engine or transmission repairs. The core function is to identify vehicle problems and perform the necessary repairs or replacements to ensure the vehicle's safe and proper operation.

The features of Cannon's Automotive Service+, particularly under its current ownership, are characterized by certain aspects that have generated specific customer feedback. One notable feature, as highlighted by customer reviews, pertains to their **pricing structure, particularly the mark-up on parts and labor costs**. Customers have reported significant discrepancies between the price charged for parts by Cannon's and the market price they found when researching the same part numbers from the same suppliers. For instance, a part researched by a customer at $48 was reportedly charged at $126, representing a substantial markup. Similarly, a scan tool fee of $224 was noted, and a front brake job on a Mazda 3 reportedly amounted to over $800, with $456 attributed to labor alone, alongside a $91.64 brake inspection fee. This indicates a business model that applies considerable margins on parts and potentially higher labor rates or diagnostic fees compared to customer expectations or other repair shops. The practice of charging for diagnostic services is common in the industry, but the specific fee amount can vary and be a point of concern for customers.

Another significant feature, as observed by customer feedback, relates to their **service recommendations and diagnostic accuracy**. One review details a situation where the customer was advised to replace brakes and rotors "ASAP" due to them being "nearly metal on metal," despite having changed them less than six months prior and subsequently discovering no problem upon personal inspection. This raises questions about the consistency and objectivity of their diagnostic recommendations. In the auto repair industry, transparent and accurate diagnoses are paramount for building customer trust and ensuring that only necessary repairs are performed. The perception of being recommended "unnecessary" work can significantly erode customer confidence.

Furthermore, a shift in customer satisfaction is noted since the "new ownership took over (Canon's)," with a customer who was "very pleased with the service and quality of work performed" by the previous ownership (Condon and Christ) expressing "very dissatisfied with service" under the current management. This suggests a change in operational practices, customer service approach, or pricing strategies that has negatively impacted some long-standing customers. The customer's strong recommendation to "find another option for your car repair needs" is a significant indicator of this dissatisfaction.

The issue of the vehicle smelling of "cigarette smoke" upon pickup, as mentioned by a customer, points to a potential concern regarding adherence to customer vehicle care standards. While seemingly a minor detail, it contributes to the overall perception of professionalism and respect for customer property.

Given the nature of the provided reviews, specific positive promotional information about Cannon's Automotive Service+ is not available. Businesses in the auto repair category typically promote themselves through various means, which would commonly include:

  • **Service Guarantees/Warranties:** Many repair shops offer warranties on parts and labor to instill confidence in their work.
  • **Certified Technicians:** Highlighting the expertise of their mechanics (e.g., ASE certified) is a common promotional strategy.
  • **Specialized Equipment:** Advertising their use of advanced diagnostic tools and repair equipment to ensure accurate and efficient service.
  • **Competitive Pricing/Specials:** Offering competitive rates or running seasonal specials on common services like oil changes, brake inspections, or tire rotations.
  • **Customer Convenience:** Services like shuttle service, online appointment scheduling, or loaner vehicles to enhance customer experience.
  • **Transparency:** Emphasizing clear communication, upfront pricing, and explaining repairs in an understandable manner.
However, based on the provided customer feedback, the current promotional message might be implicitly counteracted by the reported experiences regarding pricing, perceived unnecessary recommendations, and overall customer satisfaction. In the absence of positive promotional details, the existing customer reviews serve as the primary source of information for potential clients. For individuals in La Porte, IN, considering Cannon's Automotive Service+, it would be advisable to carefully review their specific needs, potentially obtain quotes for services, and engage in clear communication regarding diagnostic findings and pricing before authorizing any work, especially considering the feedback regarding pricing discrepancies and service recommendations.

I had gone to Condon and Christ for years and very pleased with the service and quality of work performed. Since the new ownership took over (Canon's), I am very dissatisfied with service. Upon picking up my vehicle the car smelled of cigarette smoke. As well, I felt the cost of the parts used was excessive. They shared the part numbers with me and where they got the parts. When I researched, I found that I could have gotten the parts for about $48 at the same place they purchased them. They charged me $126. About a 160% mark-up on price. They also told me my brakes and rotors needed to be replaced ASAP as it was nearly metal on metal. I changed the brakes and rotors less than 6 months ago and upon checking them myself, I discovered there is no problem at all with them. They charged me nearly $400 for this recent car repair. I called another repair shop after the fact. They quoted me a price of $150 for the same job. I strongly recommend you find another option for your car repair needs.

I have had work performed at many automotive shops. Condon and Christ is the most attentive, professional, and outgoing staff I've experienced anywhere! The experience was more than satisfying each and every time. Chariti the service manager was very polite and professional and more than willing to work around my schedule for my automotive repairs. Don't have to worry about mechanical issues anymore, they're just a phone call away

Decided to try Condon & Christ due to they were closer to my house. My experience with the first phone call to make the appointment was excellent! The female who I was speaking to was very nice! Customer service is a big thing for me and they over exceeded my expectations. The service part was very informative and they always let me know what the problem was and what they did to fix and how much it would cost before work was ever completed.. Very pleased with everything and everyone. Thank you!

I see some negative reviews on here. Mainly about money. I don't see any reviews saying anything about how the cars didn't get repaired correctly. The Cannons have been repairing cars in this town for over fifty years. If they were bad mechanics they wouldn't have lasted so long.
