Byron Woodley Tire Introduce

Located at 1330 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405, USA, Byron Woodley Tire operates as an "Auto Repair Station" that focuses primarily on tire sales and services. As a specialized outlet within the broader automotive repair sector, its core business revolves around providing solutions for vehicle tires, including installation, balancing, and related maintenance. For local users in Santa Monica, a dedicated tire shop can be a convenient resource for addressing common tire-related needs.

The "environment" of Byron Woodley Tire can be inferred from the nature of its business and the customer feedback. It is fundamentally a functional workshop designed for the practical tasks of tire mounting, balancing, and potentially other wheel services. While explicit details about waiting areas or customer amenities are not provided, the operational focus would be on efficiency and the proper handling of vehicles during tire service. The reviews, however, suggest that interactions with staff at the front desk or in the service bays can significantly shape the customer's perception of the environment. One review points to a direct interaction with "the bearded man behind the front desk," indicating that the service environment is characterized by direct engagement with staff members.

The core "services" offered by Byron Woodley Tire, as indicated by the customer reviews, include:

  • Tire Installation: Mounting new tires onto vehicle rims.
  • Tire Balancing: A crucial service to ensure smooth driving and prevent vibrations, typically involving aligning the tire and rim to distribute weight evenly. This specifically includes the practice of "indexing" tires (aligning the red dot on the tire with the valve stem) for optimal balance, which, according to one review, was a point of contention.
  • Wheel Alignment: While not explicitly mentioned as a direct service in the reviews, proper tire performance often necessitates correct wheel alignment, suggesting it may be an associated service or a recommended follow-up.
  • Tire Repair: Patching or fixing punctures, although not directly mentioned, is a standard offering for a tire shop.
  • Tire Sales: The primary function of a tire shop is to sell new tires to customers.
The focus is clearly on ensuring that vehicles are equipped with properly installed and balanced tires for safe and comfortable driving.

The "features" of Byron Woodley Tire, as described by customer experiences, present a mixed picture. On one hand, the shop has evidently been a choice for customers for tire installations. However, critical reviews highlight significant areas of concern. One major feature, or rather, a point of deficiency, noted by a customer, is the inconsistency in service quality, particularly regarding tire balancing. The specific complaint about not "indexing" the tires and resulting in a "waaay off" balance that caused vibration even at 60mph, requiring a visit to another shop for correction, points to a potential lack of attention to detail or adherence to best practices in tire service. This issue, described as "the last straw" for a returning customer, is a significant detractor from the shop's reliability.

Another critical feature, or rather a negative characteristic, brought to light is a reported lack of transparency in pricing. A customer recounted being told that quotes are based on "whatever number they happen to feel like at the time," and that the mechanic's "feeling" dictates the price, rather than objective factors like time or difficulty. This brazen admission, as perceived by the customer, suggests a business model that lacks clear pricing structures, which can erode customer trust and lead to a perception of arbitrary or unfair charges. This directly contrasts with what most customers expect from an auto repair station: clear, justifiable pricing for services rendered.

The contrasting experiences, where a customer "used to like these guys" but then had a severely negative "last visit," indicate potential variability in service quality over time or across different staff members. This inconsistency in delivering reliable service, especially for a fundamental task like tire balancing, poses a challenge for maintaining a consistent positive customer experience.

Regarding "promotional information," the provided reviews do not offer any explicit details about ongoing sales, discounts, or marketing campaigns from Byron Woodley Tire. The business relies on its direct service provision. However, the critical customer feedback inherently serves as a form of informational "promotion" for other potential customers, signaling areas of caution. In the absence of positive testimonials in the provided information, the existing reviews become a primary source for local users to gauge what to expect.

For potential customers, Byron Woodley Tire can be reached via phone at (310) 452-3896 or mobile phone at +1 310-452-3896. Its location on Pico Blvd makes it accessible in Santa Monica. However, based on the provided reviews, potential customers might want to consider the issues raised regarding tire balancing practices and pricing transparency before committing to services. It is often advisable to explicitly discuss specific service procedures and obtain clear, itemized quotes before work begins, especially given the concerns highlighted by past customers.

In conclusion, Byron Woodley Tire positions itself as an "Auto Repair Station" specializing in tire services in Santa Monica. While it offers essential services like tire installation and balancing, the customer feedback available points to significant concerns regarding the consistency of their work quality (specifically tire balancing) and transparency in their pricing practices. These insights are crucial for local users evaluating their options for tire-related automotive needs.

Byron Woodley Tire Customer Reviews

I used to like these guys,,,But...BUT...my last visit for tire install and balance was the last straw. After thier install/balance I immediately noticed a vibration starting at 60mph (who goes that slow right?) I said frick this and took it to Stokes Tires SM. Well guess what they found??...Yep...front tire balance was waaay off. Apparently , BW did not "index" the tires which means aligning the "Red Dot" on the tire with valve stem. UGH. Tires had to be remounted on rims correctly and now they are perfect. Yes at 90mph, like friggin glass my friends. GLASS!!! YaY!!

When receiving a quote the bearded man behind the front desk straight out told me they pick whatever number they happen to feel like at the time. When I pushed to try understand if its time related or difficulty related he confirmed "no whatever number the mechanic feels like thats what you'll pay". It was late on a Friday so perhaps he'd reached his limit but don't know how a business that brazen can continue to exist. Will not be returning.

They have good service and I was happy to get my tires patched here, but I also wanted to get my steering wheel re aligned. I told them that my alignment issues were independent of my tire issues, but they assured me that a tire rotation would likely solve my issue. When it inevitably did not, it became very tedious to find time to come back because the one person they have for alignment has a different schedule. Very frustrating, they should have fixed it the first time around when he was there

These guys are Life Savers! Visiting from up north and I needed new rear tires. They were the only place in town to have my size tires in stock, they got me in and out within an hour, did it at a great price, and had excellent customer service. I encourage anyone who lives here, or is visiting and needs help, to come to Byron Woodley! Don’t waste time calling around for 30 minutes like I did because everything you need is right here!

Beware of this shop. I brought my 1964 Cadillac to Byron Woodley Tires in Santa Monica on October 9, 2024, for an alignment. They told me they didn’t have time to complete the full job that day. They noticed a missing bolt for my bushing and installed it, then told me to return in a few days to finish the work. Before I left, they brought me into the office and charged me $450: $250 for the alignment (which they didn’t complete), $100 for the bushing bolt, $100 to fix a missing bolt on my exhaust. Even though the work wasn’t finished, I paid and left. Unfortunately, my car broke down shortly after and I wasn’t able to return right away. On April 21, 2025, I brought the car back to get the alignment and exhaust properly fixed. They told me to come back the next morning at 8:30 AM. I showed up on time, and one of the mechanics said I now needed new parts before they could do the alignment. I asked for a refund for the services they charged me for but never completed. They refused. I don’t understand how a business can charge someone for work they didn’t do and feel okay about it. I hope this review helps others avoid the same experience.
