Brakes & More LV Introduce

Brakes & More LV, located at 2147 N Decatur Blvd #100, Las Vegas, NV 89108, USA, functions as an automotive repair shop within the "Auto Repair Stations" platform category. The establishment offers various services aimed at maintaining and repairing vehicles for the local community. For inquiries and appointments, customers can reach them by phone at (702) 690-7254 or via mobile at +1 702-690-7254. The owner, Alejandro, appears to be the primary point of contact and mechanic for the shop.

Environment and Customer Interactions

The environment at Brakes & More LV, as suggested by customer feedback, appears to be a smaller operation, likely a single bay or a few bays, where direct interaction with the owner/mechanic, Alejandro, is common. While one customer describes Alejandro as a "cool guy" who is "very friendly and great customer service," leading them to consider it their "main auto repair shop," another review paints a more challenging picture of customer interaction. This conflicting feedback suggests that the customer experience can vary significantly.

The critical review details a situation where a vehicle experienced a severe oil leak shortly after a major repair. The customer reported difficulties getting a prompt return call and, upon bringing the car back, was quoted a significant additional cost for a problem they believed should have been addressed or identified during the initial repair. The mechanic's alleged statement, "if I do an inspection on all cars and people just think I’m bargaining for more money.. so I opt not to do so. I only fix what I see," highlights a potential approach to diagnostics that might prioritize immediate visible issues over comprehensive inspections. This interaction reportedly escalated to a defensive stance from the mechanic, culminating in a dismissive interaction where the customer felt like "a number for his business adventure more than a client he cared about." This suggests that while some customers may experience positive and friendly service, others might encounter a more transactional or less accountable approach, particularly when complex or follow-up issues arise.

Services Offered

Based on the available customer reviews, Brakes & More LV provides a range of automotive repair and maintenance services, which fall under the umbrella of "Auto Repair Stations":

  • Brake Checks and Service: As the name "Brakes & More LV" suggests, brake services are a core offering. A customer mentioned having their brakes checked, implying that the shop performs inspections, repairs, and replacements of brake components.

  • Oil Changes: A basic but essential maintenance service, an oil change was performed for one of the reviewers, indicating that routine fluid maintenance is available.

  • Alternator Replacement: One customer's extensive review details an alternator replacement, which also involved replacing two broken belts. This shows the shop handles more complex electrical and accessory drive system repairs.

  • Crankshaft Seal Repair: The more problematic incident described involved a crankshaft seal issue. While the circumstances surrounding its diagnosis and repair were contentious, it indicates that the shop has the capability to address engine oil seal leaks, which can be labor-intensive repairs.

  • General Mechanical Repairs: The issues described (alternator, belts, oil leak) suggest that Brakes & More LV undertakes various general mechanical repairs beyond just brakes and oil changes, addressing critical vehicle systems.

Features and Approach

Brakes & More LV appears to operate with a focus on addressing immediate repair needs, possibly without always conducting comprehensive preliminary inspections, as implied by the mechanic's statement in one review.

  • Direct Mechanic Interaction: Customers interact directly with Alejandro, the mechanic and owner. This can be a positive for some, offering a personalized experience, but can also lead to challenges if disagreements or complex issues arise.

  • Reasonable Pricing (Initial Quotes): One customer noted "reasonable price" for an oil change and brake check, suggesting competitive pricing for routine services. However, the subsequent, significantly higher quote for the oil leak repair raised concerns about overall cost transparency and initial diagnostics.

  • Specialization in Brakes: While they offer "More" services, their name suggests a particular emphasis or expertise in brake systems, which is a common specialization for many smaller auto repair shops.

A significant feature, or rather a point of contention, highlighted in the detailed review, is the apparent approach to diagnostics. The mechanic's alleged statement about not performing comprehensive inspections to avoid appearing to "bargain for more money" suggests a reactive repair philosophy—fixing only what is immediately visible or directly related to the initial complaint. This approach, while potentially keeping initial quotes lower, risks missing underlying or related issues that could lead to further problems and higher costs down the line, as was the case with the oil leak. For customers seeking a thorough diagnostic process that anticipates potential future problems, this approach might be a drawback.

Promotional Information and Customer Testimonials

As a local auto repair shop, Brakes & More LV likely relies on word-of-mouth and customer satisfaction for promotion. The available reviews offer a contrasting view of customer experiences:

  • The positive review highlights:

    • Friendly and cool demeanor of Alejandro.
    • Good customer service for routine tasks.
    • Reasonable pricing for simple services like oil changes and brake checks.
    • Being considered a "main auto repair shop" by a satisfied customer.

  • The negative review details:

    • Significant follow-up issues shortly after an initial repair.
    • Lack of immediate accountability for subsequent problems.
    • Concerns about the thoroughness of initial diagnostics and inspection.
    • Very high additional quotes for related issues.
    • Perceived unprofessionalism and dismissive attitude during conflict resolution.
    • Ultimately, the customer took their car elsewhere for a significantly lower overall cost for the combined issues.

This stark contrast in feedback suggests that potential customers should consider their specific needs and comfort level with the shop's operational style. While some may find the direct, no-frills approach effective for straightforward repairs, others might prefer a shop that prioritizes comprehensive diagnostics and clear accountability, especially for more complex and critical vehicle issues.

In conclusion, Brakes & More LV in Las Vegas, NV, positions itself as a local auto repair option primarily focused on brake services and general mechanical repairs like oil changes and alternator replacements. Operated by Alejandro, the shop has garnered both praise for its friendly service and reasonable pricing on basic jobs, as well as significant criticism regarding diagnostic thoroughness, accountability for post-repair issues, and customer service during disputes. Prospective clients are encouraged to weigh these varied experiences when considering Brakes & More LV for their automotive needs.

** LONG STORY*** On April 16, unfortunately my car broke down and I got it towed to Alejandro. Initially, Alejandro told me my alternator locked up as a result two belts on my car had broke and needed to be replaced. The job was quoted $1000. I paid it and the job was done. The car was ready for pick up the next day however, not even five minutes from leaving the lot. I begin to have a really bad oil leak. I immediately called the shop, it took three phone calls to get back to him and he said bring the car back when you can, and I’ll take a look at it. I dropped the car off the next day. About two hours later tells me that my crankshaft seal is also broken and that is likely the cause of the previous job done. I was quoted 2460 to repalce. Just a day after I gave him 1000. I was distraught and he could see that understandably so however I was confused as to why I just paid $1000 and why this problem wasn’t addressed initially when they had access to it and now they’re quoting me 2400 for quote “a 5.00 seal” implying most of that would’ve been labor cost. In an additional $800 for a pre-existing condition on my car prior to coming to the shop totaling well over $3200 And 4200 total Had I gone through with that job previous work order of 1000.00. Disturbed —I had a friend come along with me the third time around to discuss. How is it? This severe leak was missed and he allowed me to drive off the lot and is now taking no accountability and insisting I pay 2400 for a mistake that simply shouldn’t have been missed And I quote Alejandro states “if I do an inspection on all cars and people just think I’m bargaining for more money.. so I opt not to do so. I only fix what I see. “ But to that answer, I ask what is the point of a diagnosing and inspecting? How can you “fix a the problem” and not inspect it to make sure. Very disappointed and unable to articulate my thoughts my friend tried to explain further. Alejandro got defensive in nature and stated “ I have rent to pay if you don’t like it please feel free to take your car elsewhere” and proceeds to put the key on the counter and slide it to me in a very dismissive manner.. I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism from any Mechanic Shop. I asked for a printed out quote for the 2400 and a separate one for 800. I removed my car from his lot and gracefully I went to Your Auto Repair and my car was fixed for 1440 everything combined. I am disgusted with his actions and his lack of accountability, even admitting that he should’ve done an inspection, but he opted not to morally wrong beyond that he did not take the time for customer service and I felt like a number for his business adventure more than a client he cared about and I will more than likely not recommend this Mechanic Shop to anybody ever.

If I could give zero stars I would! My headlights were out so I took it to Autozone. They showed me that a wire had come out and said they didn't do that I would have to go to a mechanic. My regulat mechanic BEST VALUE AUTOMOTIVE (best in Vegas) was closed that day. So I go to this place and let them check it out. The owner and another guy checks the lights. He tells me that they can fix it but it will be a few hours. I agree. A few hours go by and he calls me and tells me that one side came on but the other side won't. And that my fuse box blew out and I need a new one. He says I'd have to get a new fuse box for $250 then another $250 for labor. I ask well how much was the service today? He says $400. So Im sad and confused at this point. I go and pay the $400 and ride with 1 headlight for months. So my oil change is due, I go back to my regular mechanic and he normally runs down everything that's out of place. So he's like your headlight out. I'm like I know, I don't got $500 to fix it. He's like what? So he does his magic he does and says my guse box was not blown. That it needed a new connector and a bulb. I'm only mad bkuz as a single mom he took advantage of me. It took me forever to save that money. But single mom's beware of this place. Awful.

I would 10/10 recommend this place. The owner is very approachable and knowledgeable. He provides good customer service. I went in for brake issues and he was able to resolve it for me. As a woman, I felt comfortable entering this shop. I will be coming here again.

Brakes and More has time and time again delivered excellent service at an amazing price. I would trust this mechanic with my car and the cars of those I know because he finishes in a timely manner and does a great job every time. The mechanic, Alejandro, is incredibly helpful and is thorough in his explanations of what the issues are in your car. I’m not much of a car person, but Alejandro explained my car’s issues in a way that I could follow along. He has consistently done a good job every time that I have needed service for my car. Thankfully it’s been nothing major, just general issues here and there. I highly recommend Brakes and More to anyone looking for a great mechanic at an affordable price.
