Boyd's Auto Recycling & Towing Introduce

In the broad spectrum of "Auto Repair Stations" that provide essential services and goods for sale, Boyd's Auto Recycling & Towing stands out as a unique and multifaceted operation. Far more than a conventional repair shop, Boyd's combines the critical functions of vehicle recovery, automotive dismantling, and the sale of used auto parts, making it an invaluable resource for both individuals and professional mechanics looking for cost-effective solutions or needing to dispose of end-of-life vehicles. This business model serves a dual purpose: supporting vehicle repairs by providing affordable, often hard-to-find components, and contributing to environmental sustainability through comprehensive auto recycling.

The "Auto Recycling" aspect of Boyd's highlights their commitment to extracting usable parts from salvaged vehicles, minimizing waste, and offering an environmentally responsible alternative to new parts. The "Towing" component ensures that they can facilitate the entire process, from picking up distressed vehicles to delivering them to their recycling facility. This integrated approach positions Boyd's as a comprehensive solution provider in the automotive aftermarket.

Environment and Locations

It's important to note that there appear to be multiple businesses operating under similar "Boyd's" names across different regions, often specializing in auto recycling and/or towing. For instance, information points to a "Boyd's Auto Recycling" in Noble County, Indiana (specifically at 8093 N. State Road 9, Kendallville), and a "Boyd's Used Auto Parts" in Norwich, Connecticut (133 Corning Rd). While the specific operational details might vary slightly between these independently run entities, the core services and environment remain consistent for businesses of this type.

The environment at an auto recycling facility like Boyd's is typically expansive, consisting of large outdoor yards where salvaged vehicles are stored, often organized by make, model, or type. There will be designated areas for vehicle dismantling, fluid draining, and part removal. While the outdoor areas might appear industrial, the parts sales area, where customers interact, is usually a more organized and accessible space. Customers can expect a counter for inquiries and purchases, and often a computerized inventory system to help locate specific parts. The atmosphere is generally practical and efficient, catering to individuals, DIY enthusiasts, and professional repair shops alike. For the towing service, the "environment" is wherever a vehicle needs recovery, with professional tow trucks operating on roads, highways, and even off-road locations as needed.

Services and Goods for Sale

Boyd's Auto Recycling & Towing, as an "Auto Repair Station" that provides goods for sale, focuses on offering an extensive inventory of used auto parts, coupled with essential vehicle recovery services. Their core offerings include:

  • Used Auto Parts Sales: This is a primary service. They salvage a vast array of parts from late-model wrecked and junk cars. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Engine components (e.g., cylinder heads, manifolds, alternators, starters)
    • Transmission assemblies and parts
    • Body panels (e.g., doors, fenders, hoods, trunks)
    • Lighting (e.g., headlights, taillights)
    • Interior components (e.g., seats, dashboards, consoles)
    • Suspension and steering components (e.g., struts, control arms, power steering pumps)
    • Brake components (e.g., calipers, master cylinders)
    • Wheels and tires
    • Electronic modules and sensors
Customers often find significant cost savings by opting for used OEM parts compared to new ones, especially for older vehicles or less common models where new parts may be expensive or hard to find.
  • Junk Car Removal and Purchase: Boyd's actively buys junk cars, late-model wrecks, and end-of-life vehicles, often paying top dollar. This service frequently includes free towing of the vehicle to their recycling facility, providing a convenient solution for owners looking to dispose of unwanted vehicles while earning some cash. This is a critical component of their recycling process.
  • Towing Services: They provide comprehensive towing services for various vehicles, from standard cars and trucks to potentially larger vehicles, depending on the specific location's capabilities. This includes roadside assistance and vehicle transportation. For the Norwich, CT location of "Boyd's Used Auto Parts," they specifically mention "auto wrecker" services.
  • Automotive Recycling: Beyond simply selling parts, they are involved in the environmentally responsible dismantling of vehicles. This involves draining fluids, removing hazardous materials, and properly disposing of non-recyclable components, ensuring that as much of the vehicle as possible is reused or recycled. The Norwich, CT location has been in business since 1958, highlighting decades of experience in the recycling industry.

It is important to note that while they provide parts for vehicle repair, they typically do not perform the actual repair work on customer vehicles themselves. Their role is to supply the parts and facilitate the towing and recycling process.

lots of cars to pull from and all the workers are very nice, it tends to be really muddy and you will have to do a lot more climbing in there than other yards in the area, but other than that its great place to go if your in need of parts.
