Great service. Fast and friendly too. Highly recommended. Fixed my exhaust and A/C.

I live an hour away. I drove to Bellefontaine to pick something up from a store downtown, rather than having it shipped. My car started acting up and wouldn't accelerate correctly. The store owner gave me directions to Birt's. I got there about 45 minutes before closing and explained I was from out of town. They were incredibly understanding and friendly. They squeezed me in right before closing and even stayed over to fix my car and get me and my children safely back on the road. I am very grateful for their kindness in helping us. I wish I lived closer, I would use them for all of my car needs!

My grandfather has been to birt for over 20 years. Now my family and myself go to him with all of our vehicles. Prices are good and service is great. Recommend anyone give him a call to get anything done or fixed.

Brought my car in to have a custom exhaust welded from the header flange to the rear axle. The welds and pipe layout were decent—no complaints there. That said, $300 felt a bit overpriced for the work done, but I was willing to pay for quality and convenience. Here’s the issue: when I picked the car up, I immediately noticed a check engine light. It wasn’t on when I dropped the car off. Got it home and scanned the code—turns out it was for a failed O2 sensor, specifically the one right at the header flange where they started their work. When I called to ask about it, I was told they had to “heat and beat the crap out of it” to get the old parts off. That’s not surprising, but here’s the problem: O2 sensors are extremely sensitive to heat and impact. They could've been removed before that kind of work was done or they could have informed me that I would likely lose the o2 sensor in the process. I told them to get the rusty pipe off however they felt best, but wasn't made aware of the risk to my expensive sensors. Instead, when i called after the job I was told this was “just part of the risk” and they made it seem like a common problem. Would have been nice to know before hand, and they refused to take any responsibility. Now I’m out another $150 for a new sensor, have to install it myself in my driveway, and I’m racing against a state emissions deadline. I’m a full-time college student working to pay off loans, and this is a frustrating and expensive setback that could’ve easily been avoided with a little more care or accountability. Bottom line: if you go here, you get acceptable exhaust work—but don’t expect them to stand by the full impact of their work. I get that my exhaust was hard to do but would have been nice if there was more sympathy or communication of the potential problems. Rather then just, if something gets damaged in the process, you’re on your own.
