Auto Experts Customer Reviews

This might be the worst auto repair shop I've ever encountered, and I've seen a lot (I used to work in the auto repair industry). I bought a vehicle from a coworker that Auto "Experts" supposedly "looked over" before it was put up for sale and I've never seen such incompetence. They replaced a good portion of the front end (allegedly), yet the front end is full of clunks that I now have to chase down. (EDIT: the sway bar end links and bushings were completely shot both front AND rear, and it was so obvious a blind person could have seen it). They did an oil change but it's 1/2 quart low and has a heavy leak from the drain plug, and possibly other places since the entire bottom of the engine and the skid plate is covered in oil. (EDIT: instead of replacing the crush washer on the drain plug they just left it off completely). They replaced the radiator and a bunch of fluids and spilled fluids all over the front of the engine and engine bay and didn't bother to clean it up. (EDIT: they routed the hoses incorrectly, causing one of them to kink, which resulted in the hose tearing and pouring transmission fluid out of the bottom of the vehicle...I believe I caught it early so hopefully there is no damage to the transmission). The vehicle needs a full brake job on all 4 wheels (calipers, rotors, and pads), yet somehow they "missed" that. They also somehow missed a very obvious exhaust leak caused by a hole in the muffler about an inch long along the seam where one of the hangers is welded on. Not only that, but they did a state inspection (Alvaro Umana was the inspector) at the same time and still passed the vehicle even though it has a very obvious leak. (EDIT: not only was the muffler full of holes where every hanger connected to the muffler, but it has a cracked exhaust manifold which they also "missed"). I would highly recommend NOT taking your vehicles to Auto "Experts" unless you want someone to cut corners, do shoddy, lazy work, and potentially destroy your vehicle in the process. This place doesn't deserve to be in business. *Photos added. The arrows show the empty clips where the transmission lines that run to the radiator are supposed to be routed, along with the kinked and leaking hose. There are also pictures of the muffler which has holes at every hanger location.

Customer here for 10 years. Never again. Second instance... Car that passed inspection last year with 2000 more miles doesn't pass inspection. All "bad" things they found are functional and passed last year. Of course, they installed the tires first then inspected, versus inspecting then asking if I wanted tires installed. First instance. Jan 2003. MDX missing on 6 cylinders. "Please check the valve adjustment". Auto Experts replaced all the coil packs instead, $700. MDX still missing on 6 cylinders. Took to another mechanic, got the valves adjusted... works great now.

Took my car in for an issue and was quoted $400. When I picked up my car they increased the price by $150. The next day the issue came back worse and I was told I probably need to “drive my car into the dirt” it was probably a bad transmission. I took it to a transmission expert and they found nothing wrong with my transmission. $550 dollars wasted to not fix my problem and try to get me to spend more money with them.

Brought in a 2010 ford focus due to a snapped serpentine belt due to a locked up A/C compressor. Took them 2 A/C compressors to do it “right” ended up having to take it to my uncle to flush the system completely and redo everything besides dropping the compressor & replacing it again. I was also missing the Hot & Cold caps from the A/C lines, I was charged about 1k for this service and all the running around and headaches bringing the vehicle back and fourth over the course of a month (from the Salem area). I also started having issues with the vehicle just recently with the car shutting off when started up, come to find out the crank shaft position sensor harness that was disconnected at some point during these repairs and Jerry rigged the connector back together with electrical tape. So long story short this company is a bunch of crooks and thief’s and DO NOT KNOW HOW TO WORK ON PEOPLES CARS! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAUGE! Will tag pictures of their “repair job” when I receive them from the mechanic that did the work correctly.

Very quickly handled a "sick car" situation for me saving me a trip to Blacksburg to rescue my daughter who is a VT student. Amen to this shop! I praise them and should you be in need as I was don't be afraid to give them a call! Excellent service!
