Ansonia General Auto Repair Introduce

For residents of Ansonia, CT, and surrounding areas, Ansonia General Auto Repair is a local automotive service provider operating under the broad category of Auto Repair Stations. Situated at 68 Pershing Dr, Ansonia, CT 06401, USA, this facility aims to provide comprehensive car care, from routine maintenance to more complex repairs. Understanding their offerings, environment, and customer interactions is key for anyone seeking auto repair services in the area.

The facility's environment, while not explicitly detailed in terms of a waiting room or specific amenities, can be inferred from customer feedback to be a functional workshop focused on performing repairs. The primary interaction customers have is with the mechanics and owner, and the efficiency of the repair process appears to be a central aspect of their operation. Like many independent auto repair shops, the emphasis is likely on diagnostics and direct service delivery to get vehicles back in working order.

Ansonia General Auto Repair offers a variety of services, as is typical for a general auto repair station. Customer reviews indicate that services include, but are not limited to, check engine light diagnosis, brake and rotor replacement, and addressing misfiring issues, along with other general engine repairs such as those involving spark plugs. The business also performs broader mechanical work, as evidenced by a customer's experience with a "major repair" that few mechanics undertake, implying a capability to handle complex and specialized tasks.

The features of Ansonia General Auto Repair, as gleaned from customer reviews, present a mixed but evolving picture. Initial reviews suggest some challenges related to diagnosis accuracy and communication. One customer reported being advised to change brakes and rotors for a misfiring issue, only to find the original problem unresolved and the check engine light returning. This indicates a potential for misdiagnosis or a failure to adequately address the customer's primary concern. The customer also expressed feeling "cheated and robbed" after spending $360 on a repair that did not fix the underlying issue, highlighting a concern about transparency and effective problem-solving in certain instances.

However, subsequent updates from the same customer, following direct communication with the owner, reveal a significant shift in the narrative and illuminate other key features. The owner demonstrated a willingness to address customer concerns and rectify situations. In a notable instance, the owner reportedly attempted to "save an already compromised/bad part of the truck to spare us an expensive cost," even though he stated it might not work. When this initial attempt did not resolve the issue and a major repair was indeed needed, the owner partially refunded the cost of the previous repair and applied it towards the new, more extensive bill. This demonstrates a commendable commitment to customer satisfaction and financial consideration, going beyond typical service expectations.

Furthermore, the owner's diligence in identifying and repairing "potential future major problems" during the major repair job, without being specifically asked to do so, highlights a proactive and thorough approach to vehicle health. This suggests a mechanic who is not just focused on the immediate fix but on ensuring the overall longevity and safety of the vehicle. The fact that he charged "thousands less than other mechanics for the job" further reinforces a feature of competitive pricing for complex repairs, adding significant value for customers. This positive resolution transformed the customer's perception, leading them to describe the owner as "very honest, hard working and excellent mechanic," feeling "comfortable bringing his car to Ansonia Automotive Services" (which appears to be a related or alternative name for the business).

Conversely, another customer review presents a concerning experience regarding warranty and repeat issues. A spark plug repair reportedly failed after a few months and then again quickly after being recharged for a second fix. The customer accused the owner of pretending it was a different spark plug and charging again, despite it being the same issue. This incident, if accurate, points to potential issues with warranty adherence and ethical billing practices, suggesting inconsistencies in service quality and customer treatment. This particular review underscores the importance of clear communication, documentation of repairs, and transparent warranty policies for customers.

From a promotional standpoint, Ansonia General Auto Repair's primary method of attracting customers seems to be through word-of-mouth and local recommendations, as indicated by the initial customer finding them via a "local FB page." The owner's direct engagement with negative feedback, as shown by his communication with the disgruntled customer and subsequent resolution, also serves as a form of reputation management and customer retention. While there are no explicit promotional offers detailed, the commitment to potentially saving customers money and offering competitive pricing on significant repairs could be a strong draw.

Local users considering Ansonia General Auto Repair can contact them via phone at (203) 606-9116 or mobile at +1 203-606-9116. Given the varied customer experiences, it appears that while there might be occasional communication or diagnostic issues, the business, particularly the owner, is willing to engage and work towards satisfactory resolutions for complex and costly repairs. This indicates a potential for a personalized service experience, where direct dialogue can lead to positive outcomes for customers seeking comprehensive automotive care in Ansonia, CT.

Ansonia General Auto Repair Customer Reviews

Got recommended by a local fb page. Had a check engine light diagnosis for misfiring and decided to go with this place. Very dishonest mechanic, he change my brakes and rotors and that wasn’t the issue I had and why I brought it there. Before he worked on my car he said there was no misfiring ONLY THE BRAKES AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS ISSUE. I told him do all that work on it, he recommended changing the brake because that’s what causing “the shaking” long story short he reset my light without fixing the issue and the next day my check engine light come on (this time flashing) I felt I was cheated and robbed out of $360 for a brake and rotor job when I had a different diagnosis and issue with the car. Now it’s back to square one. I got my car back worser Than I brought it in Just an update today (2/23/25) since I can’t write a new review. The company’s response was ALL LIES! I got a misfire code and brought it there. I was advised that they do their own diagnosis as well, once they check it they told me THEY DIDN’T FIND ANY MISFIRING he told me all I need was brakes and rotors. When I told them I’m coming to get my car he insisted that I let them do new brakes and rotors. Thing is they tried to find something to fix since it would only have cost me $99 for their diagnosis only. WHATEVER MACHINE Y’ALL HAVE YOU NEED TO DUMP IT. Get one like AutoZone and Advance Auto since they both had given me the same codes while your machine. DON’T RESPOND WITH LIES. Y’all are a bunch of LYING SCAMMERS and NOT reputable business people. Took my car to REPUTABLE mechanic and my problem was solved. DONT walk run and take your cars somewhere else

Update #2 I am going to make this short and sweet. After my husband spoke to the owner of the shop and took our truck back for repair the owner explained everything. He tried to save an already compromised/bad part of the truck to spare us an expensive cost. He did state that it might not work, but still made an effort just to help us out. When it did not work and a major repair was needed the owner partially refunded the cost of the last repair and applied that to the repair bill. The repair is not one many mechanics actually do, but he does and did the work excellently. He repaired the truck and actually found potential future major problems and repaired those too. Now, how many mechanics do that? Most of them just stick to the repair job and send you home knowing something else is going bad. He repaired everything that he came across that was problematic. He actually did above and beyond what he was supposed to do and charged thousands less then other mechanics for the job. We were wrong in our thinking that he was being dishonest. He has proved to be a very honest, hard working and excellent mechanic. My husband says, a good mechanic is hard to find and he is a good one, he feels comfortable bringing his car to Ansonia Automotive Services. Update My husband was able to speak with the owner of Ansonia Automotive Services LLC. and something is being worked out with our vehicle. I will update the rating and give more information when the matter has reached a resolution. Spark plug came out and I went there for repair. Work lasted a few months and it happened again at the same spot. I thought it was a different spot but it wasn't. The owner pretended it was a different Spark plug and charged me again several hundreds of dollars to fix the issue. It fell out in a few days. When I called he said it would cost me over $2000 to fix it. He did not mention that he should not have charged me for the second fix because it was still under warranty. To be treated so dishonestly is horrible. This is the only car for our family and we are on a tight budget. The owner should be ashamed. If I can rate lower for how I was treated I would.

Took my truck to these people little over a year ago for my clutch slipping. Had to pay $1,300 for parts and labor. Clutch was $250 and labor should have been about $500 for this job. I paid because I needed the truck back asap. The very next day the clutch started slipping again. Brough it back and they said it was the clutch master cylinder, they replaced it $250 for an $50 part and it was fine after. But why was my transmission removed again if it was just the master cylinder? Fishy? 14 months later (today) my truck is having a hard time getting into first gear from a stop and it’s hard to shift into second gear. I called them up and described the issue. They said bring it in but before that I asked about the warranty on the work that was done. They said it’s one year parts and labor and that I am just past that so now I have to come out of pocket again?! No clutch only lasts a year! Don’t trust these people. The workers get paid under the table and not hourly. Paid by the job. Should be investigated for tax fraud.
