AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care offers a vast and specialized range of services, firmly positioning itself as a leading Auto Repair Station. While their legacy is built on transmission expertise, their "Total Car Care" aspect means they provide a comprehensive suite of automotive services. Their primary focus remains transmission repair and rebuilding, covering automatic, manual, and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) systems, as well as clutch service and repair, and transfer case and differential repairs for 4x4 vehicles. AAMCO technicians are highly trained in diagnosing intricate transmission issues, often using proprietary diagnostic codebooks. Beyond transmissions, their services extend to general automotive repair and maintenance, including:
- Brake Services: Comprehensive brake inspections, pad and rotor replacement, caliper repair, and brake fluid service.
- Check Engine Light Diagnostics: Utilizing advanced computer diagnostics to accurately identify the cause of warning lights and recommend precise solutions.
- Oil, Lube, and Filter Changes: Routine maintenance essential for vehicle longevity, often including a multi-point inspection.
- A/C Service: Diagnostics, repairs, and recharging of air conditioning systems to ensure optimal cabin comfort.

Several key features distinguish AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care as a premier Auto Repair Station. Foremost is their unparalleled specialization in transmission repair. With decades of experience, AAMCO technicians are often considered the industry's leading experts in diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding transmissions, including the complex intricacies of modern CVT systems and hybrid transmissions. This specialized knowledge is a significant advantage for vehicle owners facing costly and challenging transmission problems. Another critical feature is their commitment to accurate diagnostics. AAMCO emphasizes a thorough "Initial Vehicle Courtesy Check" or a "Multi-Point Inspection" to accurately diagnose issues, which can often save customers money by identifying minor problems before they escalate into major repairs. Their diagnostic capabilities often extend beyond simple code reading to comprehensive testing. AAMCO stands behind its work with a strong nationwide warranty on parts and labor, providing customers with peace of mind. Many locations also offer financing options to help customers manage the cost of unexpected and often expensive repairs. The network of hundreds of independently owned and operated centers across North America ensures widespread accessibility and consistent service standards. Furthermore, AAMCO's focus on fleet services provides tailored maintenance and repair solutions for businesses, recognizing the unique needs of commercial vehicles. This combination of specialized expertise, comprehensive services, diagnostic precision, and customer-centric policies makes AAMCO a reliable and trusted partner for vehicle owners.

AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care Customer Reviews
On February 6, 2025, I took my 2018 GMC vehicle to AAMCO for service, and it was ready for pick-up on March 13, 2025. Upon picking it up, I noticed that the gas tank was completely empty, prompting me to drive to a nearby gas station situated less than half a mile away. While reviewing the service paperwork, I observed a discrepancy in the mileage recorded. The mileage at the time of drop-off was 100052, whereas the mileage at pick-up was 100068. My odometer indicated 100617. Subsequently, I returned to AAMCO to address this discrepancy. Andrew Smith was able to identify the correct mileage and updated the paperwork to reflect a difference of 549 miles. Additionally, I have a GPS tracker installed in my truck, which recorded activity over the past 30 days. This data indicates that the vehicle was utilized for various purposes, including lunches and visits to a residential address, along with several unknown destinations. During my inquiries regarding the additional 549 miles attributed to my vehicle, AAMCO did not adequately address my concerns. Instead, I was informed that my vehicle remained under warranty, without acknowledging the fact that my vehicle had been driven as a personal vehicle. Upon inspection of the vehicle, I found that there was a large amount of oily substance in the back of the truck, along with a brass o-ring. I feel as if my truck was used to haul material. Furthermore, I did not receive any updates from AAMCO regarding the progress of my vehicle’s service. I frequently had to reach out to obtain information. Whenever I inquired about the readiness of my vehicle, I received various explanations, including delays due to awaiting parts or a test drive reported to be less than one mile. The transmission fluid was ultimately found to be burnt and required replacement. Each interaction yielded a different rationale for the ongoing delays. Based on the information from the GPS tracking, I have substantial concerns regarding the handling of my vehicle during its time at AAMCO.

Terrible, from start to finish. They didn't keep me updated. Wouldn't take or return my calls. The receptionist was nice. My truck is throwing all kinds of codes. They didn't plug in one of the 02 sinceres. The transmission fluid in my truck is clear. That's hydraulic oil, not transmission fluid. In took them 20 days to change the transmission. It was a warranty job. The first conversation I had with the manager, he told me I had engine problems and they couldn't work and the transmission until that was addressed. I had no codes or engine problems when they got the truck. I plugged in the 02 sincere myself. Now the truck said I had a fuel pressure sincere problem. WHY IS THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CLEAR.

These guys are amazing...car broke down en route to Charleston at midnight. On phone with them 8am next day and on the road in the afternoon, after picking my wife and i up at a hotel. They even saved perishable food in the trunk by putting in the fridge. Class!
